   This is a tragedy. After 32 years. My friends and I enjoyed it often. I don't know what the landlord is thinking, other than greed. It was by far the best place in a grubby neighborhood, and the landlord was lucky to have Bello as a tenant. A real loss.

   Food was very good. Ambiance was not good, seated between two tables of noisy dinerS. Very expensive, a la Carter menu selections. Service worst aspect of overall experience. Brusque, impersonal. Rushed.

    Bello is a retaurant that never disappoints. Food is excellent, the restaurant is comfortable, service is excellent and parking is free! I frequently recommend it to friends from "out of town."

    Our reservations were honored on time with appropriate greetings from a gracious staff. One extra glass of wine was gratis with a most delightful dinner. The wait staff was exceptional. Return fare guaranteed.

    In Business for over 30 years so they must know what they're doing. Recently had a very pleasant pre-theater lunch there. They have an excellent fixed-price lunch menu as well as the general menu which is always very good.

    A top-notch traditional dining experience. Tablecloths, well dressed waiters, soft lighting, and excellent food and service. Our house specialty veal chop was superb, as was the baked branzino, beautifully prepared at the table. We will be going there again.

    Well, where should I start. I have been eating at Bello's for years. What a disappointment. We were a party of six. To start, we waited for bread, butter and potato chips (that we requested several times). The busboy, brought us only enough of each for a party of two. We noticed that immediately. No thought went into that by either the busboy or waiter. Our order was taken incorrectly. The waiter did not order the correct amount of soup. So my friend, received his soup after we we finished ours. I ordered, Veal Piccata, which was not ordered and had to be re-ordered and it came out after everyone was finished! To make things even worse, they brought out Veal Marsala. The took it off the check. They did offer us after dinner drinks, but, they knew, we had to make a 7:00 Broadway show, so we declined. ....................................

    They've done some renovations, but it hasn't affected the service or quality. Food is still delicious and eating here is almost like eating at home with family. Really pleasant. We will definitely be back to this very enjoyable restaurant!

    I have been coming to Bello for 25 years. It never disappoints. In all that time, I have never had a bad meal or bad experience. On our most recent visit, our party of 4 ordered a range of entrees. All were generously portioned and delicious. The service was attentive but not overbearing. I regularly and confidently recommend Bello to family and friends.

    25 or so years ago, I enjoyed this restaurant immensely. I even used that visit as a backdrop to several Trattoria's that I built in the last several years. The feel of being home, in someones house with a staff that catered to you as you dined. Flash forward to this past Saturday evening.... special, romantic dinner post Wicked on Broadway....wioth someone that had never been to Bello.... I requested to sit toward the front with a window...... was set at the last table as far back a possible...right next to the kitchen. It was noisy and we never had an opportunity to talk privately because there was always someone coming or going and taking over us. Calamari... $13.95 for a 4oz portion... nothing special, no special garnish only a lemon slice and parsley.... not worth the money.... and very small portion on the plate it was served on. The red sauce..... I give that a thumbs up... The Dover Sole...... I will put money on it...was not DOVER sole.... for almost $40 dollars.... a flat piece of fish with a very very lemony flavored sauce over it that killed the flavor of what the fish was supposed to be. I ordered the filet for $40 dollars.... lets say....very bland, cooked blue inside for medium rare... nothing special except for a very bland and flavorless Chunk of meat on the plate. The steak was grilled on one side with marks and nothing on the other. This was very anticlimactic to my expectation of a place, once revered. The service was mediocre at best.... waiting for refills, cold sliced bread, and 6 or 7 servers chatting and not paying attention. I feel that I totally wasted $150 on a dinner that I could get anywhere... I have had better steaks at Long Horn.... explain that, please. For someone who loved the ideas of what Bello used to be.... I am ashamed that I took my date for her very first visit.

    Enjoyed a lovely dinner at Bello with my 3 adult children, pre-Lincoln Center performance. Old world, comfortable, quiet, guests on the older side, attentive and professional service. Standard Italian menu, everything well-prepared. House wines were good. Not trendy, but a good place for a relaxing meal where you can actually hear each other. Will definitely go back.

    The food is consistently good, specially the Veal Marsala. It's lively and they don't rush you out. The drinks are also great. I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well without breaking the bank and its near the theater district.
