You pay more for the experience than the food. My husband and I had the afternoon tea, one New Yorker and one Champagne. It is overrated, but it’s an experience that if you have the opportunity to do, go for it! Check was $270 including two glasses of champagne tax and tip.
Granddaughter’s first trip to NYC. 3 generations having tea. Waiter could have been pleasanter in explain the price structure. Other than that, it was lovely.
Overall we loved our time there. However, when some of us were still eating the waiters and server were trying to clear our plates and rush us to finish. We did not feel that this was appropriate and felt it was very poor service because of this...
We arrived for breakfast to find out they were understaffed so they were only having a buffet breakfast. This was a limited buffet. They should have notified people who had reservations that this was the case. To only have a few basic options on the buffet and then charge people close to 50$ pp for it was ridiculous. Going to the plaza for breakfast is an annual tradition for us and we were very disappointed.
We went to the Palm Court for my birthday dinner. Unfortunately the famous afternoon tea sessions were all booked, so we had a early dinner. However everything was great - the food , the service and the ambiance. We spent about $200 for the dinner for four people but it was worth for a special day!
Fariz was excellent! He added to the wonderful experience we had.
The experience was nice, something to check off my bucket list. The Pslm Court seemed smaller than when i had gone a long while ago, but the service was very nice. The food and tea good but it was very pricey. I don't think I would go again unless the price is reduced which i doubt.
What a fabulous experience! Our server, Ruggero, was amazing! He was so friendly and attentive! The food was delicious and I’ve never had tea like that before. It was incredible!
Open table and the plaza totally messed up and ruined our final day in NYC. I had booked high tea 2 weeks prior for my wife’s birthday which we were really looking forward to but when we got there at the designated time we were told our booking had been cancelled, even though I had received an email reminder from open table that very morning. We had planned our day around this and as it was our last full day in NYC we couldn’t reschedule. The hotel said they had tried to call us earlier on the day but as we were travelling from abroad we did not get the message and in any event the notice would have been too late, given it was our final day in NYC. There was no email from opentable. Then to add insult to injury we received an email that evening from opentable suggesting we were a no show. This was totally unacceptable and sheer ineptitude from both the plaza and open table to allow this to happen.
Lovely service. Restrooms far away (upstairs, through the bar). Food very good but not outstanding. Lots of teas for selection. Ambiance kind of like a fish bowl.
The Palm Court is a gorgeous place to enjoy afternoon tea. When my mother and I were looking for vegan afternoon tea options in the city we were so excited that the Plaza offered a vegan tea. We had previously been to the Palm Court for afternoon tea before we became vegan so we knew how special the experience was. The ambience is beautiful and the service was great but unfortunately the vegan tea was just not up to par. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich should not be served at such an upstanding restaurant. There are many other delicious and tasty options that could have been served; (we would be happy to give some ideas on how to improve the vegan tea sandwich selection. In addition the pastries were not impressive or interesting. Overall we would come back solely for the ambience and attentive service but the vegan afternoon tea needs to be completely revamped and re-thought.
We had High Tea at the Plaza, and it was such an experience. I would recommend this for a mother daughter day.
After central park walk popped in to have afternoon tea for two. It was $90 per person including glass of champagne. I like the tables in plaza and the room is pretty. BUT the food was unbearable. The small sandviches were absolutely tastles and stale, i dont remember having any worse honestly. The cakes were not delicious as well. J dont know what is wrong with this place, but the food is terrible!!!!! Champage and tea were nice though. The service is ok with a little bit weird waiter in dirty uniform. There was a line in the bathroom as well, took me 15 min to wait for my turn. I have been here yeara ago, unfortunately this place turned into tourist trap of some sort.
The tea was good, the sandwiches were fine, I loved the caviar, but a lot of the desserts were difficult to pick up to eat. I went to celebrate my birthday and they brought out a plate of macarons with a candle which was sweet, and the macarons were good. The service was not as refined or attentive as I would have hoped, but the man that delivered our food was very nice. Overall, not the best tea experience I’ve had, I would not return.
It would be great if there was a dress code, since guests are spending so much money to dine there.
I cannot believe the lines to the bathrooms. For $90 a person, there should be bathrooms that aren’t open to the public. I spent half of my time during tea in line for the bathroom.
Amazing experience! Went with two friends for afternoon tea. The presentation was beautiful, the atmosphere amazing, but above all the service was incredible! When you go ask for Kazi and you won't be disappointed!!
Only good for the ambiance, food is mediocre. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing, I was just disappointed with the food. For the price I think the food should have been a lot better.
Perfect for afternoon tea - beautiful hotel & restaurant. Staff go out of their way to accommodate you. Food was great quality.
Plaza Hotel is a classic NYC Hotel, where they do recognize you and make you feel like royalty.
We went for my daughter’s 8th birthday and had the Eloise afternoon tea. It was beautiful and felt very special. I could only give 4 stars though as felt the experience was a little too rushed, we were only there 1 hour, I was expecting it to be longer.
Good and we had a lot of fun. My cousin came out of town so it was the perfect NYC morning experience.
Every member of the hotel made me feel like family. The food was incredible, the ambiance was second to none and it felt magical.
Razi helped make our experience great and special!
Fancy. Some of the desserts were really good and a nice selection of tea. Not worth the money though, overall food wasn’t good :/ expected something better for 75$-95$ afternoon tea.
I was truly disappointed in the palm court. For a place so well known and historic I expected a lot more from the service and food. I’m pregnant and noted in my reservations that I can’t have certain things. The waiter was unaware of this. In addition the gentleman who brought the water to us was much more friendly and polite and helpful than the actual staff. The food was very disappointing for the price. All the food from high tea tasted refrigeratored and a couple days old. The quality was very poor. I have been to other high tea with much more better food and teas for a lot less money. Nothing stood out that would make me go back
Didn't realize they require you to order High Tea at noontime. Thought there would be an array of options, or the option to simply order tea. Made it a bit awkward for our business meal.
It’s all so beautiful! The food is nicely presented and the building is flawless. This is definitely worth a visit as a treat.
A lovely way to end a short stay in New York. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff were attentive and made this birthday treat a memory to treasure.
Beautiful location but stunningly weak fare - the Lobster Bisque (a staple of my diet) was like hot, orange water. Service was indifferent. This place rides on reputation and location alone.
Amazing. Excellent service.
Went for afternoon tea with my mum to celebrate her upcoming birthday and both had a lovely time. The food was so filling we had to take some of the cakes away with us!
A good spot to celebrate significant birthdays. Service was very good and the ambiance was pleasant. I would have liked to see a pianist, my tea was fairly weak and afternoon tea was stacked incorrectly but they are all things I could live with. When I have a spare $90 hanging around again I will definitely go back.
What a unique and fun high tea experience in NYC. I have been to a couple around the world, and this is up there so are the prices, but we went for a special occasion and it is worth it.
The cakes and drinks were amazing!! The sandwiches looked great, and I believe the non gluten free ones were very good. The gluten free ones were okay, but had been toasted and served cold. High Tea does consist of cold sandwiches, but the toasting and serving it cold did not work. I would of preferred them hot. The scones (gf too) were delicious and served warm!
The Eloise Kids High Tea was fun, fab, and went down really well; especially with the pink lemonade option.
The setting is beautiful, ornate and works well with the overall theme of The Palms. It does need a fresh coat of paint in some areas closer to the kitchen, but that does not matter in the overall experience.
FYI- I did book a few weeks out on their website. I’m glad I did, to ensure we got the time and seats we needed. They were turning people away on a Monday afternoon, as it was fully booked.
I made sure to ask for a gluten free tea in advance, but got no confirmation and was willing to just get there and drink some tea and watch the others enjoy, but yeah, they have a full gluten free high tea, and it was good!
If you are in NYC and want a fun experience and some yummy treats for a special occasion this is the place to go and enjoy together.

A very enjoyable tea in an iconic hotel. Would highly recommend.
My husband and I took my mother-in-law to High Tea. The ambience, food and service exceeded our expectations. Our server, Kazi, was very attentive and ensured our needs were met. We will certainly return and highly recommend the restaurant.
Exquisite experience! Kazi provided extraordinary service from beginning to end!
Such a beautiful classic place! I’ll be coming back for all my special events. Giovanni was super sweet and sent over something special for my mother and I. Thanks again guys!
