    Celebrated 2017 @ Heartland for the closing of the restaurant. Food, ambiance, value and menu was outstanding. Phillippe, our server was smart, caring and knowledgeable. He really took care of us. Lenny Russo made his rounds visiting nearly all the tables to Thank everyone for coming and their support of his efforts and dedication to local sourcing of foods. My wife and I will REALLY miss Heartland.

    This was the last night that Heartland was open. The staff was for the most part poker-faced. Our server was nice. Pretty sure they substituted kale or another stiff green for spinach in two dishes we ordered. The only likeness between kale and spinach is that they are both green and leafy. Not really happy about that.

    Fabulous food and service! Had the pumpkin soup, cheese fritters & bread was hot out of the oven. Cassoulet was delicious, my husband had the trout, split the Chocolate dessert & coffee - all Super yummy. Thank you- we are sad to see them close!

    I found that the menu was very limited for this visit. I know they are closing this week; so I think that may have been the reason. We have dined here previously and it was a good experience, with great service. However this time, we found it to be extremely pricey for a very limited menu. Also, the hostess was not very welcoming, unfriendly considering we had reservations, was a milestone birthday celebration, and had guests we wanted to impress since never there before. It was very clear people were unhappy because they would be soon be out of a job. I wish the chef best wishes, and hope to see him open another restaurant in the near future.

    I suppose a review doesn't really matter because they're closing and it's probably why the food wasn't up to its usual standards. My waiter was very casual toward me, and did not have a sense of timing as to when to clear my plates. The pumpkin soup was yummy with a nice texture and variety of flavors but it arrive tepid in the center and cool on the edges - I assume it sat out before someone brought it to me. The beet salad had the equivalent of one half of a beet on it, mostly greens and too much dressing. I've eaten here before and have always been pleased but this was disappointing. I wanted my last time there to be a good memory. On a positive, the Last Word cocktail was good.

    Sadly, this restaurant will be closing on December 31, 2016. The prix fixe meals used to be some of the best deals in town, with four-star food coming at a Restaurant Week price. Now they have small and large plates. Yes it's pricey, but I've been to far too many inferior and equally expensive farm-to-table places. I will miss Heartland.

    This was my first time at Heartland and am very disappointed in myself that I didn't make more of an effort to get to Heartland sooner. Very sad you are closing at the end of the year. My dining experience was wonderful, everything was great and have recommended you, but I told everyone you were closing at the end of the year.

    Portions.small. greens tough and tasteless. Left still hungry, had to visit a fast food joint. Wish I had just gone to Dennys and saved a bundle. Just.as well they are closing at.end of this month.

    Chef Russo never dissappoints ...with the notable exception of Heartlands closing. The menu, wine list and hadcrafted coctails, quality of the food and beverage preparation, presentation, attentive service, overall ambiance is consistently impressive. Thanks for the memories.

    The restaurant is closing on December 31, 2016. Pros: food is absolutely delicious. Expertly selected menu that changes regularly and all of it well-cooked. Cons: takes nearly 2 hours to have a dinner service.

    A favorite place and so sad they are closing. The food, decor and people make this restaurant a stand out Limited but carefully selected wine list that exceptional. Artisan cheese fritters are lovely with house made pickles and breads. We liked the steak and cassoulet.

    I'm sorry to say that this was our final visit to Heartland, as it will be closing at the end of December. We have always enjoyed dining here, and especially when we are with our local family (we discovered Heartland years ago when it was new to Lowertown) on our visits from Kansas. We wish Lenny and the staff the very best for whatever each will be doing next.

    Not as impressed this time around. Service was not on par with the level we have come to expect from Heartland. While the food was good, again we felt it was not the level it was prior to the announcement they would be closing. We missed the tasting menu and frequently changing menu.

    We were so glad that we were able to try Heartland before it closes on December 31st! It was a great way to celebrate my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws 25th wedding anniversary! Thank you for a special dining experience!

    This was our 3rd time at Heartland, the 1st 2 visits were awesome, this time it was very disappointing. The food was so, so. We sent two dishes back because they were cold. 1 dinner was removed from the bill.

    We were very disappointed. The service was pretentious and our menu choices were obviously below our server's expectations. We overheard the server telling patrons at the adjoining table how much he hated the certain entrées on the menu, one of which we had just ordered. Unfortunately, he was right. The food was underwhelming and overpriced ($18 for three fritters – really?).

    I have been to the Heartland many times both at the original location and the newer location. Every time has been wonderful. So many delicious choices. I'm so sad to see it close at the end of the year as it has been one of my favorite places in the Twin Cities. I'm definitely going to try and get in at least one ore time before they close.

    Every time I have eaten at Heartland I have been impressed with the food and quality of service. It's too bad they are closing at the end of the year; although the Twin Cities has more fine dining options available then ever this restaurant has consistently provided memorable dining experiences for me and I will miss being able to eat here.
