Madre for "mother" is a Bring your own Wine French bistro with classic and modern latin influences from the peruvian Chef Mario Navarrete Jr. His culinary experiences have taken him from New York to Philadelphia to Montreal. Navarrete, chef owner, first opened the fine table RAZA in 2005 on Laurier avenue. He pursued with Madre on Masson street two years later in honour of his mother's cooking. Madre opened its second doors, this time on Fleury street, in Ahuntsic in 2013.

La serveuse nous informe que dans la salade de roquette et betterave et bien il n'y a plus de roquette, ce sera de la coriandre à la place. Le plat arrive et c'est du persil frisé, drôle de mélange avec la betterave trop cuite et fade. Ce resto devrait fermer le lundi car nous y étions seuls et aucune ambiance. Nous avions l'impression qu'on attendait que nous partions. Le menu à 29$ est peu intéressant.

This small Peruvian/ Mexican restaurant is a unique find. It's a very small restaurant (tables are very close together), byob, yet the food is outstandin and the service is excellent. Not inexpensive, to be sure, but not overpriced, either. We had the Valentine's Day (fixed) menu, but the kitchen was very accommodating of our allergies and non-meat needs, and suggested excellent alternatives to the fixed menu. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Très petit restaurant mais dans les petits pots les meilleurs onguents. Visité dans le câdre de Mtl à table donc menu fixe à $31. à part le thon qui était trop cuit, tout le reste était très bon. Mention spéciale pour le dessert à la lime et méringues. Excellent ! Un apportez-votre-vin qui vaut le détour.

Imaginatif et délicieuses combinaisons d'ingrédients. Des saveurs du Pérou mêlé à celles du monde. Un peu le world music de la table. En plus un de ces restaurants "apportez votre vin"... étrange puisque ce restaurant ne semble pas être de ce type. La qualité de la cuisine fait palir M sur Masson qui est tout près. Un incontournable de la promenade Masson.

Belle ambiance décontractée. On ne sent pas entièrement l'influence latino américaine dans la carte. Peu dépaysant. Nourriture néanmoins très bonne et expérience agréable.

I went for brunch last Sunday. The food was good, but not incredible. It's a good thing my friend and I both have small appetites because the servings are pretty skimpy. We shared a tortilla with chorizo sausage and a nutella 'burito' (it was basically a crepe with chocolate filling, strawberries, caramel and a bit of lemon curd). Both were pretty good. The one thing we loved was the purple corn lemonade. Now that's something you don't get to try everyday! Overall, a nice neighborhood place to go for brunch. Not too expensive, though people with normal appetites would perhaps need to order an extra plate. When we arrived it was pretty empty and quiet but by the time we left things were getting quite loud (fine by me, I like livelier spots)

We were expecting great things when we arrived at Madre but unfortunately it was not to be.They have 2 seatings on Sat. Nite and we went for the second. Altho' our table was ready we had to wait until everyone else was seated before our orders were taken. Our waitress was very sweet and the place was noisy. The appetizers of salmon ceviche and Caesar salad Nuevo style were good. The mains however were disappointing. First of all they were not served simultaneously but by group. Ex. If one person at our table ordered lamb shank then he was served at the same time as others in the room who ordered the same. All mains were served like this so we had to wait till our whole table got served which was annoying.The pork flank was tough. Too bad.
