After 22 years, Paolo Alavian has closed his iconic Soho restaurant "Savore" and replaced it with Altesi Downtown. Altesi Downtown is outpost of Altesi Madison, his Upper East Side townhouse restaurant. Locally sourced seasonal ingredients will be used in traditional Italian dishes, which will be served alongside small plates including Salumi and cheese platter served on cutting boards, panini and pizza from the wood-fired oven. Like its sister concept, Altesi Downtown offers Aperitivo (cocktails served with Hors D'Oeuvres) and A2Go - a lunchbox-style selection of panini, water/soda and small cookies.

Dinner at Altesi was amazing! The appetizer mozzarella in carozza melted in my mouth and was sooooo delicious, my meal lobster linguine was good but could have been better, my lichee martini drinks were perfect and the pistachio dessert was phenomenal. My friend had the calamari, grigliata di pesce as entree and tiramisu for dessert! 10/10

The food here was very disappointing. We read the reviews and researched this place. On paper it looked like a place in line with what we really enjoy. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was amazing. The food, quite honestly, was just not that good at all. We ordered two appetizers: tuna tartare and meatballs. The presentation of both dishes was beautiful, but the taste did not match the look. The tuna tartare was flat, and tasteless, overwhelmed by the over-sized portion of avocado. The meatballs tasted like an old dish rag. The marinara sauce was almost flavorless. Even the breadbasket with small scraps of bread and a tasteless spread was underwhelming. We decided not to stay for the main course. I can't remember the last time we've done that. Bottom line - the place is very nice. The service was great, but you go to a restaurant for good food. This place just doesn't have it. Go somewhere else.

Very warm and attentive service and not crazy prices, given the hot location. My orecchiette dish was good, but I've eaten better versions. I would be happy to return sometime and try other items on the menu.

Altesi Downtown is one of my absolute favorites. The staff is attentive, efficient, and warm, and the resto is beautifully designed...open and airy. The food is delicious, authentic Italian, and beautifully presented. Their Bottomless Brunch is great value...BONUS!!!

This is one of my favorite neighborhood "go to" restaurants. The staff is always welcoming and courteous and the food is consistently perfect. I've taken many an "out-of-town" guest there, and have never received a single negative comment from any of them . . . only compliments.

Valentine’s Day price fix menu was terrific! The food was delicious and the service, authentic Italian (for the most part). The room was surprisingly brightly lit for dinner service and our table was close to the drafty entrance and obviously less desirable as neighbors kept asking to be moved. But overall we enjoyed our date night and will definitely come back with friends!

Food fine, but. - my goodness - $12 for a bottle of water (on reflection i don’t think this price was even visible on the menu). I was too shocked to complain. I feel like I have been truly gouged and will never return.

They Were impatient with us and rushed us through the entire meal. The spaghetti was barely cooked. The only time they were actually polite was after we left the tip. Although I'm a woman and I paid for a six person meal they brought the card back and put it in front of the man sitting next to me for a signature.

This is becoming one of our favorite spots. Awesome pizza served oblong, not too crispy, but not too soft. I had the Diavoletto which was great but not too spicy, the waiter said add the "Pepper Oil" that comes with all pizzas. I did and WOW was it hot but full of flavor. We highly recommend the Pepper Oil but try just a little first so you can moderate to your correct heat threshold. She had the Margherita pizza and loved it. She said it was perfect "fold over" pizza. She had the Prosciutto and Burrata special app which was huge and really tasty. I had the Spaghetti with Cherry Tomatoes which was some of the best I have ever had and I have had a lot!!! Really a must have. We passed on dessert because we were too full, but 2 other tables told us the tiramisu was really good and really different than others they have had. Great room and great service. Lots of fun to sit near the door and watch the world walk bye through the gigantic french walls of glass that they leave open in the summer. We will go back again soon. Loved this place. We had a great time at Altesi. The food was excellent, all of it. We had ravioli, gnocchi, salmon, and duck fettuccini at the table. Everything was cooked perfectly. The cocktails were hearty as well. The service was great. The a/c was a bit chilly but all of the energy and great music made up for that.
