Waitress lovely, food very tasty, we had a great time.
The flavor off the tagliatelle bolognese was good but the noodles were undercooked and hard.
Tasty and delicious food , kind of service , good atmosphere , great experience for dinner , thank you so much .
Definitely a hip place in Harvard square. I went with a date for dinner. Waiter was great, but our appetizer came before my drink came- which I waited over 20 minutes for. The Moscow mule was not in a traditional copper mug which I would have appreciated because that is a primary experience of a mule. The deviled eggs were amazing, very flavorful and filling but light enough to still be excited for the main course. My pasta bolognese was alright. I wish it had more meat in it and the papardelle was slightly overcooked. The chicken entree was my date's, however it looked splendid and juicy! Overall, I had a nice time!
Great cocktails. Very engaging servers.
In town for Patriots Packer game and spent the morning at Harvard Peabody museum. Reservation for brunch. Awesome bloody Mary’s at bar followed by delicious brunch options.
Had a tasty burger, others in group had eggs Benedict, salmon salad, duck hash and steak and eggs. Huge portions, fresh, tasty and good value. Nice service. Cool space with large round table.
Hospitality comes first here, and that is truly apparent.
The staff went above and beyond to make sure that my birthday meal and experience was great!! Thank you so much for a great night :)
Had a birthday brunch with friends. Great vibe. Outstanding food (don't miss the duck hash). Reasonable priced. What else can you ask for?
We enjoyed drinks at the bar during our first night at the Head of the Charles regatta so thought a quick bite before we left for the airport on our final day was a good plan. It was very conveniently located and we liked the vibe. We knew it would be busy - that wasn't the problem. The downstairs was packed that Sunday and the noise level was deafening. The food was presented well and fairly quickly, but was very average bar fare. I don't quite understand why an English Muffin replaces the bun on their burger, but I thought I'd try it. Wouldn't recommend it. The fries weren't even worth eating. Skip the poutine and calamari - not worth the price or calories.
Loved the service and drinks. Pasta bolognese was handmade but dry. Lobster sliders were not chunk lobster. Dessert was melted when it arrived. Too loud with hard core music. Dishwasher smell of chlorine a turn off.
The food was awesome, and our server was great. There were 5 of us at a round table, and the noise prohibited conversation except for the people immediately adjacent.
Second trip in a row with sub-par experience. Service was good, room is the same, but last two trips haven't been good. Roast Beef sandwich this time was so bad I couldn't eat it. I've visited Russell House a lot, but i'm moving on...
Were great about handling a crown, especially since we added a person at the last minute.
$25 for a sandwich that was mostly bread and a little bit of meat plus a "salad" that consisted of 6 chopped pieces of a variety of tomatoes. The pieces of tomato tasted very fresh, though.
It had been awhile, and this is a great place for casual but tasty food with great beer and wine options. We enjoyed the food for the most part, and the service was friendly and efficient.
The food was very good. The only complaint is they had trouble keeping up with the extras like "second order of bread" or an after dinner dessert drink. Otherwise overall good experience.
Excellent food and drinks. We loved the menu options and ambiance. The charcuterie plate was delicious and plentiful; the Korean BBQ ribs were so good. The venue is big and 2 floors so it allows for different crowds who might just want to hang out at the bar vs have a sit-down meal. Would definitely go back!
I enjoyed the restaurant and food, the server was great, but the place is TOO LOUD. We got tired of having to repeat ourselves and having to shout.
It's not just this restaurant. It's a trend in most city restaurants. I'm weary of having to lean plates to hear friends speak and having to shout to be heard when I dine out. It isn't exciting. It's certainly not fun or relaxing. Dear restauranteurs: buy some rugs and drop the music level 20 decibels, please.
Great menu, fun atmosphere, good service. Fun spot in a fun town!
Modest menu, not particularly inventive, but perfectly acceptable on a busy afternoon.
The service was excellent as we had requested to move our reservation back 1 hour on a busy Saturday night and were accommodated without issue.
The food was excellent and moderately priced.
Good but loud. Steak frites had small portion steak and overcooked. Desserts were okay. Drinks were good.
Thank you for replacing beer foc when WE spiled it.
Really good food, nice selection of items. Simple, not overstated...casual. Took clients for a ow key evening and was perfect
It was a good meal, great service but it was very difficult to hear details in the conversation due to the level of sound in the restaurant.
I had arranged a get together for friends attending a memorial service. People were late in coming, showed up at different times, and we stayed for hours. I had told the server what the occasion was and they were extremely accommodating. I was so appreciative that they were so forgiving. Really good food--something for everyone. Great drinks. And very reasonable. I was just so appreciative we were treated so well.
Really great place! Service excellent and the food was too, very comfortable too.
Something for everybody, you can get an appetizer, soup, burger, or a meal!
You can get fries and salad with the the burger too, which is a nice touch!
The Steak Fries and the Cabernet Sauvignon were very good. The Service was quick and friendly.
It was a great night
Russell House Tavern is such a classic. My recent experience was disappointing though. I indicated it was for my birthday on the open table reservation. This was not acknowledged once during the meal. I understand not all restaurants do some kind of birthday item, but I wish I had known ahead of time. It put a bit of a damper on the meal.
The tavern was a destination since I had read about it. Our waitress was excellent, so I wish I remembered her name. The food was hit or miss. The small plate calamari and clam pizza were delicious. Two people had a hamburger; one came out not hot and both said it was average. The spanish squid was rubbery, but maybe that's just squid. The charcuterie platter got a thumbs up but nothing exceptional. I had hoped the food would be better. If we happened to be in Harvard Square I would go there again since the place is nice and cocktails were good. The prices were right and portions were good.
Server was good but several errors on bill and food was just ok
Good vegetarian options. Great service. Fries were soft/limp.
The food took a while to arrive, and the downstairs space is dark -- not for those who want to enjoy daylight at lunch. But the food and service were excellent.
Very nice place, good service, delicious food. Will return. Prices are extremely reasonable
I came in for brunch with some friends and we were all really pleased with the food. In particular, I had the french toast and it was to die for. The only complaint is that the server, while very nice, seemed to lose attentiveness towards the end of our meal and it was a struggle to get our check delivered.
The Tavern is a great place. The food is consistently good, the folks at the bar and who are with you at the tables are amazing are kind and with great humor. As a Black person, I feel comfortable and always taken care of, which is not always the case in Harvard Sq. One of my most favorite places that I know I can relax and enjoy when my mom comes to town or I have to complete work with a good meal. I even chose this place as my birthday dinner this year. I love this spot.
Waitress had poor timing with drinks. She took away a half full glass of scotch when another was ordered.😔Table water was warm. Food was good.
I ordered the tavern pasta and my only complaint is that the portion was very small. My date got the steak and his portion was pretty big so I guess just the pasta is on the smaller side. Taste wise it was very good though it just was expensive for the portion.
