The waiter was disorganized, inefficient and forgetful, but didn’t seem to be new. The food was outstanding. If we go again we will go to the bar for happy hour.
As usual, the food was great and everyone enjoyed their meal. I ordered the veggie burger for the first time, and it was unusual and outstanding. Wish the side salad was more than just lettuce, but no big deal.
The service was excellent, professional and pleasant.
Manager try her best with what owner give to her, bad food staff unprofessional dirty restaurant ambiance big $
lucky because of location
Terrible waiter couldn’t get order correct and then charged for drinks that Clapton be included with brunch on website
Manager was very nice Corrected bill and offered free item. Food was good that was a plus. They could use a cleaning of the light fixtures.
We were there for a special birthday brunch on a Sunday. Although it was not particularly busy, the waitress was not very attentive; she never checked in on us to see if we wanted more coffee/food etc. Also, my father-in-law and I were both disappointed with the Huevos Rancheros as they were supposed to be served with a spicy salsa, but there was none on them. When we asked the waitress to bring some additional spicy salsa that should have come with it, she brought us two dishes of ketchup and a bottle of green Tabasco sauce. With so many outstanding restaurants in Manhattan, we will not be going back to Thalia.
Didn’t match online menu; waiter was good but service was slow. Food was just okay.
Overall a wonderful place to visit especially close to the theatre district. We carefully explained to waiter about one person being GF. Unfortunately runner brought wrong dish to table. Took s while to make up for the error.
Peter the manager did a wonderful job to make us whole.
We will be coming back for sure.
A GREAT SPOT EARLY FOR A LIGHT BITE, DRINKS AND FOR PRE & POST THEATER. LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM ON THE MENU.
CAN GET CROWDED WITH TOURISTS, SO DO RESERVE!
All was good, even when waiter accidentally spilled a drink on my husband 😂
Although the food was okay, the whole restaurant smelled like vinegar. It was quite an unpleasant smell. I wanted to leave upon sitting down but I decided to stay as it’s hard to find a restaurant in theater district on short notice. I won’t be back.
I had the Salmon lunch special. It came just how I wanted it: medium with a crispy outside. The sweat potato mash it came with was delicious too!
Very nice place in theater district. Good food Friendly staff would go back
This was my second dinner at Thalia's this year. What they excel in, is not only very tasty food, but a staff, who are prompt, friendly, and remember if you ask for lemon with your water. Given they are located in the theater district, the waiters always ask if we are seeing a show and, if yes, what time. On this occasion, our show was at 7:00, so we were able to take advantage of their "happy hour" wine prices. The choice is a red or a white. I ordered the red, and it was quite satisfactory. I had a pasta dish with tiger shrimp and a pesto sauce. It came to the table hot, and the shrimp were cooked just right. By the time we left, tables were quickly filling up. This tells you something, given there are many restaurants to choice from in Manhattan!
Although the Caesar salmon salad was very good. It was just romaine lettuce, no other Caesar ingredients.
Good food. Good service. Quick and efficient service. Nice variety on the menu.
Great pre theater dinner spot! Fantastic value nice size potions, great taste! Friendly and helpful staff!
Poor service out of many items delivered entrees at different times have been there before but won’t go again
Disappointed in the brunch. They used to include a cocktail, bread basket. Now the food quality went down too.
While still a good pre-theater option, it's not what it used to be. Despite being very early for our reservation when the restaurant was empty, we were first shown to a very unappealing table and given a bit of a hard time when we asked to move. Our server was clearly inexperienced (wasn't sure how to uncork a wine bottle) and kept trying to rush us. And the food, while ok, was not as good as it used to be. For instance, my steak was undercooked.
Used to enjoy it here more when they offered the complimentary mimosa with brunch and the generous bread basket. The food is still very good but the overall experience has declined. Pretty restaurant but not much more to make it stand out in the crowd with the many other restaurants in the area.
We had not been to Thalia in many years. We met some friends in NYC and decided to try it again because it was very close to the theater, and are we glad we did. Everyone loved what they had. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu even though it was the first day of a new menu. Reservations are recommended - we had a reservation for 5:45; it was almost empty when we arrived, but by 6:00 it was filled up. It got very loud and the acoustics aren't great, but the food was worth it. We go to NYC fairly frequently, so we'll be going back to Thalia.
Went for a pre-show dinner. We we're one of the first two people there. Service was fine at first. As soon as it got busy, we barely saw our server again. Ordered a sushi roll as an appetizer. Problem was our entrees came out before the appetizer arrived so we sent them back. When it was time for our entree, it was pretty obvious they sat under heat lamps waiting. The sushi was very good. The main course was average at best. My scallops were definitely a bit slimy. They tasted like that had been sitting. We tried ordering drinks from the server, never got them. Then we tried the food runner, still did't get them. Then the busser, and guess what, still didn't get them. Our server never acknowledged the mix up with the food our drinks. It seemed like our server was inexperienced so I can give him the benefit of the doubt. But if that's the case, someone should have been watching his back. A visit from the manager would have gone a long way.
The atmosphere is excellent and the service the same. The presentation of the food was was excellent, however the flavors were disappointing and bland.
It's a convenient location if you are going to the theater and while everyone had a upbeat personality, the service was just ok. We had sushi and it was quite delicious. But the music is really loud and the set up is a bit uninviting but the bar is good and they have good happy hour specials.
Thalia used to be a great value with a glass of wine offered with an appetizer. No longer! The prices have gone up substantially, no more bread/muffins offered, and two glasses of wine and two burgers was $85. I asked for a nice table on opentable and we were first offered the worst table in the house, looking at and being pushed by a party of children on the "closed" balcony. There is an all you can drink price so the place was really noisy! I thought this was supposed to be a pre theater restaurant; that's always been the theme. I guess they're all going to the theater drunk?? I will never eat here again and I used to frequent this restaurant, brought groups of family and friends as well...
It’s was a totally fine brunch experience. I think it’s a few dollars over priced. But it’s nice that they have $20 bottomless drinks.
Thalía used to be my go to Theatre restaurant. Pretty sure I’ll never return. An old favorite appetizer was half the size than a year ago and prepared poorly. Main course delivered before at the appetizer even arrived. When that main course was re-delivered it was cold.
The worst dining experience last night, in NYC. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were seated quickly. 510pm arrival. Long story short...when food arrived at 610pm, only 3 of 4 meals arrived. Immediately brought to the attention of server, who never left the area to handle. 10 minutes later, got up from my seat to find manager. Still not handled appropriately. Meal arrived at 635. We had a 7pm. TERRIBLE!!!!
First broadway play with our kids
As usual, good atmosphere, excellent drink options, and outstanding food.
Great location for theater but food was soooooooo disappointing. Avocado toast looked like it was prepared in 5 seconds, huevos rancheros was made with hollow tortilla rolls and had almost none of the advertised pork and not much flavor... kids burgers were way overdone.... and downhill from there...
The internet was down when we arrived. We were told we had to pay in cash but the internet would be back online in an hour. We
Were there for 2 hours and attempted to use the internet. Server indicated it was still down. We paid in cash and asked for the manager. The manager showed us his laptop and said still down. It was his attitude that prohibits me from recommending this restaurant. He basically didn’t care and wasn’t the least bit apologetic.
This is a very nice place in the NYC theater district for a pre theater dinner. The location is terrific, the service is very good and all the food is good. They offer burgers, pasta, seafood and a variety of appetizers.
We always go here before or after theater. The food is excellent and the wait staff is fry.
I've eaten at Thalia a number of times before (since it's across the street from my office) but it really seems to be going downhill. Last time I dined there, the food was just awful, and the waitress, while pleasant enough, was generally nowhere to be found. My friend and I both received food which didn't reflect our requests (my friend, who asked that the cheese be used sparingly on her frittata was served a dish swimming in cheese, the medium rare salmon I ordered arrived well done), and our waitress did not respond to any of our attempts to get her attention. There were only 2-3 tables of diners in the restaurant, so the fact that the entire staff was chatting in the corner and noone scanned the dining room to see if anyone needed anything was appalling.
I have been here numerous times and had great experiences -- this was not one of them. We had major challenges with service - we were a party of 9 and 1 person got a starter... then the waiter brought out 1 dessert???? then there was a bug in the food and finally the manager came over and really did try to do right by us (they did provide a discount for our troubles) - many ordered the price fix and we never got our desserts as after 20 minutes we had to leave to go to theater.
The only complaint I have is that the unisex bathrooms were not up to par.
The food and service were great. The noise level did make conversation difficult Overall, it was a nice place to go before a matinee
Brunch menu extremely limited and portions are small. No changes possible. Ingredients not quality. Muffin was barely toasted; ham was anemic and undercooked and the hollandaise was thin, tasteless and minimal on my eggs benedict. side salad appeared to have been a handful thrown on the plate directly from the package with no discernible dressing. Fries are excellent though. Service was exceedingly friendly and exceedingly slow. The poor man was new and confused but charmed us with his smile and candor. Fortunately we had plenty of time, and the tweens and teens were happy with the offerings. It's just not very sophisticated, and appeals mostly to a narrow and bland palate.
Showed up for brunch. Were seated near the bar. No one came by for 15 minutes. (mind you, the place was half empty). We ask maitre 'd to send someone over. A kid who doesn't speak any English comes from across the room to take our order, which included two drinks from the bar. Another 15 minutes pass, nothing. And since we are seated near the bar, we can see it is dead. Needless to say we walked out. Never did that before.
Sorry Thalia, been living in NY for 60 years.
Go over to 44X and see how Sunday brunch is done. Awful.
