SALT Kitchen and Bar
Lunch: Monday - Saturday: 11:00am - 2:30pm, Sunday: 12:00pm - 2:30pm; Dinner: Monday - Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Very nice restaurant as explAined very nosy due to an an event which customers she be alerted to the drive one way 40 miles total of 80
The waiter was attentive initially. All entrees were served at the same time. Once our meals were done the plates were removed and immediately replaced with three desserts and we had to stop the waiter from walking off so we could order coffee. Three people in our party had the restaurant week special. The fourth person received a dessert menu a few minutes later. And their dessert wasn’t presented for several more minutes. We had to ask for more coffee. There were several tables open so it wasn’t that they were trying to get us to leave. For such a high end restaurant they don’t even have a Luxardo cherry in the Manhattan.
Visited SALT with my mother for restaurant week and was super impressed... while the price point means I probably won’t be visiting regularly, the atmosphere was great, the staff was lovely (we had an issue that was handled promptly and professionally) and the food was a-maze-ing. This is a great place to visit on a special occasion, and either you’ll see me again on my birthday or you’ll know my family doesn’t really love me. (It was dim in the dining room, so the photos have had the lighting tweaked to be clearer, but are otherwise unaltered.)
Meal was very good. Server Chantal was attentive. I had the short ribs which were tasty but very fatty. Although another member of our party had the same but not nearly as much fat. The chicken piccata was good but quite thick. Usually it is pounded into a thin tender cutlet. We will be back.
We have been to Salt many times-mostly for dinner. This was a ladies lunch during restaurant week so there was a special fixed price menu for 3 courses. I consider this an opportunity for restaurants to “show their stuff” to attract new clients. If I tried someplace new & was impressed by their fare, service, etc, I not only might be enticed to return with other friends but I’d spread the word & be that venue’s best marketing tool. This certainly was not the case for our experience @ SALT yesterday.
For starters, our server never cracked a smile or gave an indication of friendly welcome. She also didn’t seem to be familiar with this new menu & kept going to the kitchen to get answers for us. When asked to bring tap water instead of bottled, she never did & we had to flag down a bus person(who was VERY nice & accommodating). We all ordered the chicken piccata w risotto. All 3 orders were dry, although edible When we mentioned this ,our server was very gracious & offered to have them remade. We declined since we couldn’t afford to stay longer to wait. When dessert was brought, she did not offer tea or coffee which was not included in the prix fixe menu but we could have ordered as an add on.
Please note this was a Tuesday @ noon & the restaurant was less than half full so no competition for attention or reason to feel pressured by a busy dining room. One friend had to leave so she asked for her dessert to be boxed up. Our server was accommodating, brought separate checks but never made us feel welcome or that it was a pleasurable experience to dine in such an upscale restaurant.
Fortunately the manager wandered over to ask how our lunch was & we politely told him He was lovely & apologetic but did not offer us anything. Said he’d speak to our server but of course we’ll never know. I handed him the raffle coupon I’d filled out for restaurant week visits & he’d never see one before but said he’d make sure it was delivered.
We went to SALT during restaurant week; I was impressed with the quality of ingredients, focus on local ingredients, and how delicious the food was! The wine list was outstanding as well, and is worth going back for by itself. It is on the pricier side but we will certainly be back for special occasions.
Always love coming to Salt. Excellent food and service
Ate lunch during a special restaurant week. Food was outstanding, nice presentation, and attentive wait staff.
Our waitress was good but the rest of the staff were not welcoming.
Had an amazing dinner! Sat near the back with very dim lighting but the chairs were leather seats and very comfortable. I would try sitting in a different section next time where they have the cathedral ceiling with paintings on it. Highly recommend! The baked oysters were perfection.
Our reservation was at 5:00, and there were no other diners in the dining room when we were seated. It seemed like we were being rushed because we were asked to order all 3 courses at once from the Restaurant Week menu. Received the first course in a timely manner, but there was over an hour wait (possibly an hour and a half?) between that course and the entree. Other diners arrived while we were eating our first course, and they had time to order, eat their 3 courses, pay and leave before we even received our entrees. It was after 8:00 before we finally finished our dessert (third course). I don't think I would go back.....
4 diners: 4 drinks, 3 Restaurant Week meals, 1 vegetarian pizza =$200+
The food was fair. Waiter had an attitude. It was a special occasion, so we were disappointed. It is a beautiful hotel and dining room. I had lunch there a few months ago and it was lovely. This time not so much.
We have been to this restaurant many times and it's always been good. However, they fail miserably in making a reservation. They randomly answer the phone. I love Open Table for the ease of making a reservation. On numerous occasions we have requested a certain section of the restaurant for seating. There are three or four table options in this section. Rarely has our request been honored. This last visit we arrived to have a drink in the bar before dinner and told the hostess that we are here and all of our requested table options were open at that time which she acknowledged. She did not say we have to seat you immediately because we can't hold these tables open. She just put other guests there ( the place was not full at all) and tough luck when we came to be seated 20 minutes later. The food has slipped to the point of not even good. Sadly, we will wait a while before returning. I guess if you aren't a hotel guest they don't need you.
The food was delicious, well presented and a good portion of grilled salmon. We were seated in the middle and should have requested a move to one of the open window seats. A family let their 2 children play/wrestle near us, near the fireplace, which detracted from the romantic ambiance I was expecting. Overall a very nice restaurant in a very nice hotel that I would recommend.
Our experience with the staff was great. Service was wonderful except I mentioned before ordering I could not eat tomatoes. I reminded the waiter again when I placed my order but when it came they were on my plate. The plate was sent back and instead of redoing the order, they tried to wipe the tomatoes off the plate. When my dinner returned it had a tomato hidden in it still under the fish they missed. I was upset because this allergy was verbalized three times and could have caused an adverse reaction if I hadn’t seen it. Wiping it off the plate I could have done myself, what they did was unprofessional. The plate was returned and the meal was voided but I felt for an upscale place where we ordered $45 and $30 plates this wouldn’t happen. It was our anniversary and I didn’t eat my meal with my husband because of the delay in fixing my order. It really ruined our night and experience we looked forward to.
We were listed as a no show when, in fact, we did dine at Salt Kitchen and Bar after arriving slightly early of our reservation time.. That was a bit disconcerting.
Group of " guys " at a larger table across the dining room that were a bit loud.
4 of us arrived for lunch at 1:05pm. Maybe 3 or 4 tables were occupied. The restaurant was not busy. Our waiter asked if we wanted drinks and none of us did. At 1:40 we had to ask someone to find our waiter and take our orders. We each ordered a salad. They arrived 20 minutes later. Two of us ordered a Cobb Salad that consisted of limp mixed greens, a few slices of red onion and 5 shaved radish slices. Avocado dressing was on the side. It was missing all the ingredients listed on the menu. (Coincidentally, that particular salad is not listed on the website as of today.) I asked the waiter where the bacon was and he delivered a small container of lardons. The Cobb salad and its meager contents were hardly worth the price of $14. One of the other salads was missing ingredients as well. We are all local women and we will not be back. Very disappointed. It was supposed to be a birthday party and we noted that on the open table reservation.
Lovely venue for a Sunday luncheon birthday celebration with old friends. Fantastic service, delicious food, excellent libations expertly poured, and extra dessert touches including candles, song, and a complimentary box of truffles! Truly a delightful afternoon! Many Thanks!
Great food, ambiance and service in the restaurant. Unfortunately service in the lounge was lacking. Waitress was not polished and attentive as one would expect in a very nice place like this. However, very much recommend SALT!
Delicious food! Great service! Craig was our waiter and he was great !
Excellent in every way. The food was delicious, service excellent and lovely ambiance. Five stars!
Gillian was the best!!! We had eaten at Salt the night before where there was much stress with large parties and lack of good management. Tonight was a completely different experience. Kudos to Gillian for helping is with a great dinner on our last night at the hotel.
This one was hard to evaluate on the options listed above. There was obviously a huge problem with management/planning for the evening's dinner. It was blamed on 2 large groups and kitchen staffing. The brightest star was our server Gillian (hence the "outstanding" for service). Gillian exuded grace under pressure. Many were upset with her and we tried to be as kind as possible to her - fully realizing that the management issues had nothing to do with her. So kudos to Gillian and her co-workers for their efforts in trying to keep the heels on the bus during a very difficult evening!
We love Salt - on this visit we were seated on one of the banguettes in the dining room under the beautiful original dome....the dome however acts as an echo chamber and we were very distracted over hearing conversations all around us. Otherwise the ambiance, service and food are top notch.
Overall enjoyed. Food was good though gluten free options limited. Service was Ok, not exceptional but fine.
This is a resort, and there was a large wedding party which I bet affected food and service, certainly noise and crowd. Food was solid. I recommend.
Service good food okay.. nothing special.
Excellent service. Very good food, highly recommend!
It would have gotten 5 stars but we weren’t finished with appetizers before main course was served. A little too fast for us.
Doug is an awesome waiter. Great attention to detail. The food is fantastic.
We had a great time. We got there early and sat on the outside deck with a drink prior to our seating. Our waiter Nick was great. We like to share several plates and they were more than accommodating. Food was very good and service was great. Will go back!
The food is good (often local), the menu interesting. Service is very pleasant, but slow. If you want time to talk, this is an excellent place to go. If you are in a hurry, not so good.
First time at Salt. Great experience- great ocean front restaurant, fantastic food and atmosphere.
The chef at Salt did it again. This is not my first time here and you never know what to expect when you return to a memorable restaurant. Everything was fresh and delicious and surprising. We had an all seafood dinner from top to bottom and it was exquisite. The entire staff, including from the Wentworth By The Sea, to which it's attached, especially Jason Bartlett and Mary Carey Foley are top notch and make the evening even more special with their 5 Star attention. We drive 2 hours to get here, and are already planning our next visit.
We have been here before and have always enjoyed our meals. This particular evening was great as we had a great server who was so friendly, funny and attentive! He made the evening! Although the menu is/seems pricey, the food is delicious!
This is now our go to place for get togethers. Food is fabulous but save room for the dessert.
Loved it! We will be back! The atmosphere, drinks, food and service were all fabulous! We had a great time and thought the prices were reasonable for the location and atmosphere.
Dinner at Salt was delicious and the atmosphere was stellar. While the server was both knowledgeable and friendly, the meal took an extraordinarily long time...almost 3 hours start to finish and there were just 3 people in our party.
