French Toast is a terrible name, but this is a perfectly fine local brasserie. We were there on a Monday, so the Happy Hour menu is good all night. Our salad was very mid. Our entrees were very good and our wine was nice, and priced well. The AC was maybe on…but, not well. But, I guess that gives more of a French feel! We did have to request more water, so the service could be better… overall, it was “fine”.

Hilary we agree French Toast is not a great name , luckily we are named French Roast which harkens back to the original French Cafe / Patiserie Concept we opened as years ago. While the restaurant has evolved since our early days the name and brand recognition has held fast in NYC and on the UWS for over 30 years .

I have reviewed this restaurant each time I eat there, which is at least once a week. It is yu favorite neighborhood restaurant so I always enjoy dining here. I have recently brought new friends who have now become fans as well. The food is always good, the ambience charming, the diversity of people welcoming, and the periodic menu changes keeps the restaurant "fresh". I sometimes will have breakfast and then come back for Happy HOUR. Can't say enough positive things about French Roast

had only been here once before many years ago and this time came for dinner with 4 other people; sorry I missed so many more meals here over the years. the food was very good and nicely presented and there were many choices, some of them a bit pricey but at least I had selections to make. and the wines by the glass were varied and decently priced. will be back much sooner than later from now on!

Shakshuka was horribly salty. Salad was overdressed with a too-sweet dressing. But what really made the experience awful was the excessive noise.

Another phenomenal dinner experience at French Roast with friends! The ambiance is always welcoming and beautiful, and Juan our waiter was on point - those Mango Chili Margaritas and L'étoile cocktails were a highlight! The food was, as always, exquisite. We tried some of their specials foie gras and seafood pappardelle. Amazing!! In addition to some of our favorites the escargot and chicken liver pâté… they were all hits! Great to see the GM checking in, this place never disappoints! Definitely coming back.

We had a great waitress. The food was good. But we were not seated at a good table. The sun was shining in my eyes. Painful. It was strange because there was a table for 6 that didn't have that problem, but the hostess told us it was reserved. What? We had reserved a table too. And we arrived way before the party that was seated there. never explained. Also the restaurant was so noisy it was difficult to talk. Or maybe we were at a noisier place in French Toast.

It was nothing personal, the group that asked for that table requested the server who was working in that section, and as always we try to accommodate everyone's requests. We did have a booth reserved for you but when you arrived early for your reservation the prior table had not finished yet. We didn't want to make you wait until your reservation time of 7pm so we did what we could to seat you quickly. We apologize if it was not the table for which you hoped .
