   For years, anything we ordered was very much to our liking. Last night, was a disappointment. Esgargot did not have much flavor except for the overpowering onion. I couldn't taste the garlic. The Pate was good but nothing memorable. Schnitzel overcooked but well substituted by a flavorful Lamb Ragu. The salmon was the best dish and pleased everyone. It's tough changing chefs but we feel the new one has to live up to Cafe Bijou's outstanding food reputation. Diego, our server, was very efficient and accommodating.

   Ordered my steak medium rare, it was raw , waitress said that’d our medium rare, sent it back to be cooked a bit more, my friend was almost finished with her dinner when I got mine back, it was cooked fine, but the sauce was a little bitter tasting, I was not happy with my meal. I’ve been going to Bijou Cafe for many years, since it changed owners it’s been hit or miss all during this Opera Season! Love the make over of the restaurant, it’s really beautiful, but the food is not consistent! Jane Quigley

   What a simply wonderful “fine dining” experience at Bijou! We returned after a hiatus and were thrilled with the new remodel. We ordered the duck, the scallops and the salmon. All beautiful presentations and delicious. The highlight was Grayson, our favorite “professional server” over the years. He continues to show a flair for making the experience flawless, and is always timely and even anticipates our needs throughout the dinner. So refreshing and so rare these days. Grayson, you make the difference, and we will make a point of dining with you again soon! Thank you and thank you Bijou!

   Our server was excellent as always and the staff was terrific. However, we were seated in the side room and the acoustics there are very noisy. We prefer the main dining room or the front room where people can converse without shouting.

    Bijou Garden Cafe was the perfect place to celebrate our son and daughter-in-law's anniversary. Because we also had their two teenage daughters along, we wanted the restaurant to be upscale but also relatively casual and relaxed. We ate indoors, where the room was lovely. The wait staff immediately made us all feel welcome and allowed us ample time to choose drinks and menu items. They also allowed us to share some dishes and to add extra items at the last minute. If we are in Sarasota again, we would definitely try to eat at the Bijou Garden Cafe.

    Fois gras was very good Filet mignon was overvooked for medium well and so was the vegetable a bit The desert was unfortunately overprized

    We went to the bar area for a drink prior to our servation. We then proceeded to the front desk at our appointed time to be seated. We were taken back to the table closest to the bar. It’s too noisy as I heard some guy talk politics with Anita couple he was annoying. The service was good the food tasty. I will go back but will ask to sit in another room

    We had a wonderful dinner before walking across the street to the opera last night. Our servers were so good, as always. The duck and crème brûlée were big hits with our visiting guests from out of the state.

    Understated excellence in a refined setting. I had the salmon, my dining partner had the scallops. In the past I have had the filet. Highest quality ingredients, prepared to perfection. Best bartender in the area, cocktails are also perfect, with top shelf liquor available. Atmosphere is quiet, you can actually hear your dinner partners' conversation. Service is attentive, not intrusive. All this perfection comes at a price. You get what you pay for. This is truly a lovely dining experience.

    Overall experience is not quite up to the level of the prior ownership. Food was excellent but service was slightly off (it appeared our server was rushing about, perhaps with too many tables to manage). Had to ask when the bread would be served (after tables around us already had it). Improved over the last time we were here but not quite up to the level one expects for the price.

    We went as a little party of 4 before the theatre and really enjoyed the meal. The service was professional and attentive. We had 4 different entrees: lamb, scallops, chicken, and vegan. All were excellent.

    Our experience was superb in every dimension, every element. I do rate the Bijou 5 stars for value, although it is certainly not inexpensive. But we have often paid more elsewhere for this level of across-the-board performance, quality, perfection.

    This is one of our go to places when doing theater in Sarasota. Our server Diego was cordial and attentive. Everything was obviously fresh prepared and served as requested. We dined on their patio. In nice weather, tables outside are pleasant. Inside is lovely but a tad over air-conditioned for our taste. Others may find it fine.

    Another great evening at Bijou. We went with another couple and had the scallops, short ribs, and salmon, and all were excellent. The Roasted Cippolini & Escarole Salad with Prosciutto and Bleu Cheese crumbles was absolutely outstanding! We will be back

    Went to the Bijou for dinner before a show at the van Wezel. Service was very good, although the table we were given was next to the bar. Not a problem at first until a group arrived with their loud conversation. My wife had a martini which was sub-par - the bartender shook the martini instead if stirring and the olives were mussy. The food was very good, presented well, and prepared perfectly. Server Diors was excellent, with just the right amount of attention. We hadn't been to the Bijou in quite a while, and we don't remeber why. It was a very pleasant experience, and we look forward to returning soon.
