    We went to this establishment with very high expectations. While the food was OK, it wasn't great or outstanding so we were let down. It was Southern cooking in fact, but without incredible flair. The Steak Tartar was decent but lacked depth. My son got a $42 New York Strip that was pretty tough (maybe choice at best). My wife had the fresh pasta and shrimp which had a nice flavor but was so OVERSALTED that it was rooky cooking. The Rhode Island raw oysters were melt in your mouth. If I was the chef, I would have thrown an extra oyster on the plate because these bod boys were tiny. The Sean Brock chain has been bought up by a group and I think this Tavern is closed for now. Let's see if a Rennaissance takes place next round.

    The special of the day was a delicious white fish, but the winner of the dish was the sauce the fish rested on... corn, sweet sauce... to die for! My medium rare NY Strip was cooked to perfection, the pork chop was delicious! The peach cobbler yummy! Service was impeccable. The help with the wine list was very much appreciated. A place to keep going back... :-)

    McCrady's Tavern has been a Charleston dining institution since I moved to Charleston in 2004, and it will be sorely missed. All the best to Chef Brock! Our meals were fantastic, and the steak I ordered was HUGE! Paige did an excellent job of being attentive and friendly, without smothering us. The bar had the best Sazaracs in town... I will miss those! And I loved sitting at the bar for a nightcap and small plates after an evening show. Au revoir, McCrady's Tavern!

    Didn’t know what to expect and was surprised and pleased by the attention to detail in both the food prep and the restaurant decor. Creative presentation of food. Bread was awesome. Somewhat loud as the night progressed but caused more from the room design. A little ambitious in pricing but id recommend.

    Not good. Scallops undercooked. Duck was suppose to be “lightly” dipped in batter but wasn’t even close. It was heavily battered and taste of duck was washed out. This was not perfection. Cheers.

    GO, I cannot recommend enough. Local ingredients, rotating menu that is always unique and amazing. Staff are attentive without being overbearing. Servers are knowledgeable and provide great guidance. Cocktails are handcrafted, and the wine list is quite impressive. Atmosphere was great, dimly lit, but not so much so that you cannot see. Exposed brick throughout. Loved every minute.

    Went to celebrate our 24th anniversary. The restaurant was quaint, tucked in a little alley. Loved the ambiance, and the staff was first rate. Loved our waitress, and she made the whole experience memorable. We live locally, and will be back again. Highly recommend!!

    Wonderful wait staff, excellent food, atmosphere/ambiance is amazing. Felt like we had gone back in time yet had modern conveniences like AC and updated gas lights. BACK TO THE FOOD!!!!! Swordfish was prepared perfectly and the bar makes a mean Margarita. Please try out this beautiful restaurant you won’t regret it

    Our server was a little on differential side, she didn’t seem interested in giving us good service. When we received the check and signed she whizzed by, picked it up on the gallop, and didn’t even thank us for dining there. Food was ok but nothing special. There are a lot of better options in Charleston, I would suggest dining somewhere else at this price point.

    Absolutely love the ambiance and the service! The food was very good too but would have liked a few more menu options. I had the scallops and did not love the smokey sauce that was with them. It seemed to over power the mildness of the scallops. My husband had the fillet and that was excellent. We also had the cheese selection which came with an amazing pecan spread and crackers that were all made In house. The cocktail and wine selection were exceptional! We will definitely be back. Very romantic spot and loved that it’s down a short alley off East Bay.

    What a fantastic restaurant! My wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and then spent the next few days eating at some of its fellow best-reviewed Charleston spots; McCrady's was our favorite. My wife and I had a great conversation uninterrupted by our surroundings, the food was excellent, and the service was top notch. Throw in unique ambience and the very much appreciated anniversary-specific intangibles and I could not offer any higher praise or any stronger a recommendation.

    Given the reviews that we read prior to coming to Charleston, we were somewhat disappointed at McCrady's. The best part of this experience was our wait person, Becka. We was very knowledgeable of both the menu and wine list. She made an excellent recommendation of a Gruner Veltliner that I will go in search of because of her. It was truly a delicious wine. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. We had the local greens and the fresh beet salad. Both were excellent. However our two entrees were just "meh." Please understand that we are not food snobs or wannabe critics, but we do enjoy a good meal for the price. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. The seared scallops were served with an odd tomato sauce that just didn't work. The plating was in such a way that we had to deconstruct it to figure out what was being served. That said, the scallops themselves were excellent. The pasta (garganelli with shrimp) had so many flavors that I could identify what I was tasting and the shrimp were chopped up into small pieces (Nooooooo!!). It just seemed like the Chef tried too hard. Sometimes simple is better. For us, we wish we would have stopped with the wine and appetizers.

    The steak was cooked to order and the dessert was fantastic. One of the best that I have had.
