   Great food. You must try the Alaskan Halibut. My son's steak was juicy and tasty. Great seafood pasta too. Service was nice (except for the bus boy who came every five minutes asking to clear the table). Nice environment with view of the ocean. Book an outside table when the weather permits. Quiet inside except for next table with women guests who had very loud laughs.

   The food and service were outstanding. The server was extremely attentive and the Cesar salads were amazing with incredibly fresh lettuce.

   Made reservations based off a friend referral. Experienced Long waiting time to be seated. Unable to supplement food selections. Hamburger meat over cooked. Overall experience was poor.

   Sanderlings was really good. I decided to celebrate my birthday there and I’m glad I did. The service was great and the food was very delicious. The clam chowder was my favorite and the drinks were pretty tasty too. I would definitely return!

   Excellent service by our server Aaron, outstanding food quality, nice ambience for a hotel restaurant. Family seated nearby with 3-4 small children made noise level higher, but to be expected at this type of venue.

   For a casual dining experience with a beautiful view of Monterey Bay, Sanderlings is hard to beat. The staff is friendly and ready to help and the restaurant is also serviced by an excellent bar, so the choice of wines and adult beverages is also excellent.

   Food just mediocre. Ravioli swimming in a sea of cream. Salmon slightly over cooked with very mushy polenta. Much better restaurants around for the price.

   We were so pleased that Sanderling's was bustling with activity on Christmas Eve -- and had room for us. The staff were pleasant even though they were running bringing food to the full house of holiday eaters. We feared dinner would be slow because of the full house, but the wait staff and kitchen staff helped one another and we were pleasantly surprised how quickly it all arrived. Each dish was nicely prepared and delicious. Thanks!

    We are locals and have being going to Sanderlings for years. I don't want to blame COVID but every part of the restaurant has gone downhill. We went for Christmas eve dinner. They had a very bare bones menu, sad to say. The staff were running (I mean running) of their feet. After being seated we had to wait forever to get service (drink, bread, water) we had to ask for bread three times, before they would always bring bread sticks to your table. Overall not a good meal or experience for Christmas Eve. This used to be a great place to eat out and bring guests as the location is amazing.

    I've been going here since they opened decades ago. At one point my daughter in law was a manager of banquets. My daughter was married at the resort. I feel the resort is struggling. The lunch food is boring, not very good and we have often said what is wrong with them that they can't upgrade the menu. Month after month the same thing. I remember ordering a hamburger medium rare. Since the service was so slow I didn't dare ask them to take back the burger that was beyond well done.

    We went to the buffet for thanksgiving. Wehad a reservation and were seated early. The service was great, the ambiance was ok. The food was, at best mediocre--cold and nothing had much flavor. I made the mistake of not checking the price and was astounded at how high the price was, especially with the low food quality. Never again!!

    Thanksgiving buffet had some wins in terms of taste (appetizers and salads), and the carved meat was ok to good, but all of the side dishes that were supposed to be served warm were cool to cold. However, the soup which was at the perfect temperature and was very good. The biggest disappointment was the deserts - seemed like previously frozen and not fresh baked, no whipping cream for the pumpkin pie but since it was inedible it really didn't matter. Service was good, but the dining room has a cafeteria feel to it. Way over priced for what they give you.

    We had enjoyed the Sanderlings Thanksgiving buffet in years past. 2022 was the least good and most expensive buffet at $95. The wait staff tried hard, but was stretched thin--and the steam tray food was only lukewarm. We generally like Sanderlings and will go again. However, we'll think twice about such an expensive buffet in the future.

    Thanksgiving Buffet, $95/person Plus 20% Gratuity (For a buffet!?). Our party of 6 was seated upstairs in a corner (good view till the sunset) no one greeted us, asked for drink orders, offered to open the 2 bottles we brought with us, told us to go to the buffet, nothing. We figured we'd hit the buffet so we could at least have some food. OK selection of food but, everything that should have been warm, IE green beans ,rice, mashed potatoes etc. was cold and everything that should have been cold like salads was warm or wilted. The slicing station was the only positive aspect of the entire evening, with a nice, approachable young man doing the slicing. Ended up borrowing a corkscrewed and some wine glasses from one of the bussers(who didn't do any bussing) and opened our wine. All in all it was pretty much a joke, we even bussed our own table. In the end, a manager asked how it went and, after being informed, she at least took a couple of our meals off the bill and didn't add the 20% gratuity. So much for trying something different eh?

    The staff was very friendly. The location beautiful. However we have now learned not to go out for a Thanksgiving buffet again. Four hundred dollars for three people was pretty crazy. (We did add two glasses of wine.) The food was good, warm at best, and not adequately kept full. Dessert table mostly empty after we finished our meal. Lesson learned.

    Last year we did not have the best experience at sanderlings on Thanksgiving. Its understandable that businesses had to change things to keep up with Covid-19 protocol. We took our chance and decided to come back for the buffet we so missed last year at Sanderlings. The experience was outstanding. The food was incredible. It was spacious and the food trays were always full of the yummiest food everytime we went back to the buffet. I was so happy and relaxed eating the great food and looking at the fabulous veiw from outside. Thank you Sanderlings!

    We have been coming here for Thanksgiving for several years. The food is always really tasty and the staff is wonderful. The buffet is on the pricey side, but worth it.

    We enjoyed our Thanksgiving lunch at the Sanderlings buffet. It was a lovely day and we were able to enjoy the world class view of the Monterey Bay. The food was very good, with an excellent selection. Still, and $95 per person, plus a mandatory 20% gratuity, it was very expensive. They charged me extra for my iced tea.

    I had the Cioppino. I order it around 2 times a year. This was the worst one, I’ve had ever. The crab was over cooked. The shell was soft and felt empty. I peeled the shell apart and the crab meat was so cooked it was shrived up. The shrimp were tiny, they are always the big ones with shells on the tails. The garlic bread was tough. It looked like it had promise, but was not crisp or soft, it was old. The flavor of the sauce was good. I do not recommend this dish. We also ordered the Salmon. That was good. I loved the sauce on the plate. The veggies were roasted and plentiful. The salmon tasted fresh and no old fish glabor. I should have believed the other reviews and not ordered the Cioppino and ordered the salmon.

    The new menu has fewer items than on our last visit. There is still plenty to choose from. Fish and Chips is still fantastic as is the clam chowder. Our waiter Zaul was fantastic. Very professional, attentive and knowledgable! Sunsets are stunning!

    Beautiful sunset for wifey bday dinner. Service was covid slow but very pleasant. The calamari appetizer was middeling at best. The entrees were delicious. Wife had salmon and i had the mushroom ravioli with prawns. Both were cooked exquisitely.

    You pay for the view here, not the food or the service. The service was incredibly slow, but I believe that was due to understaffing which is an issue for many restaurants. The waitress did completely space out one of our requests, and never came back after serving the food to ask if it was OK, and never asked if we wanted a second drink (and we did). We assumed she was just overwhelmed and still tipped 20%. The food is way overpriced for the quality. I'm sure that our meal was sitting around in the kitchen for quite some time before it was served because it was overcooked and dried-out. Crab eggs benedict with a dried-out English muffin and dried-out crab patty. Edible but disappointing for $36 per plate! Pastries and fruit were mediocre at best, as well as the bloody Mary. $200 for brunch for four people but the view/ambiance was incredible. I would recommend for the view only. Know that you'll pay a lot of money for not great food or service, and just enjoy the view.

    The ocean views and location are one of the best around and it will offset the other stuff... service was friendly, however many significant gaps during our experience there; for example, our waiter was nowhere to be found, the wine glasses were dirty and drinks were missing for a very long time... Food was just OK.
