Large portions, food was fresh and had common menu items mixed with unique. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Modern decor mixed with traditional was pleasant atmosphere. Clean!
Went here for dinner before the recent Steelers game. I didn’t realize it was a hotel restaurant when I booked, but it managed to avoid the pitfalls of hotel restaurants. Food was great, portion sizes reasonable, service was quick and understanding of our timeline. I look forward to eating here again!
Excellet food and service. Pricey - with tip, $148 for dinner for two.
The food was wonderful. There were enough selections to satisfy everyone's food tastes. The servers were very attentive. We especially enjoyed the slow pace of dining. The waiter's were not intrusive and allowed plenty of time to make selections. I would recommend Braddock's to anyone who is looking for outstanding food and service.
Everything was cooked well and the waiter and waitress was excellent. I really like the taste of your coffee and bottle water!
We came to this restaurant because we were attending a show at a theater nearby. We were very pleased with our selections. My husband had to short rib ravioli and I had the pumpkin papperdelle pasta. We also each had a cocktail. My husband had the Charlie Brown, and I had the princess peach. Both were tasty although my husband felt that the whiskey was too overpowering in his drink.
Hubby also had for dessert the 21st amendment cobbler which was very very tasty. All in all we will definitely be back.
They have new, higher prices, and yet the menu has changed (boooo!) for the worse. This used to be a pre-theater fave. But now... (sigh) we will be looking elsewhere.
The food was very good from the quesadilla to the salmon to the filets. All five of us enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. There was a club or party upstairs at the hotel and it was extremely loud and distracting. I’m not sure how often that happens.
We stayed in town for a Steelers Game. We live 5 hours away. We decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant as we were travel weary. We were made to feel like old friends by the manager, waitress and staff. The bourbon selection was impressive and the food was amazing. Hubs had the pork shank and I had hangar steak the first night, and it was so good we went back the next night for more. We went with the pretzels and fondue for an appetizer, then for dinner I had the veal chop, he had the scallops. Again, perfection. We will come back to Pittsburgh just to visit Braddocks.
According to the server, the chef decided to take two of my favorite items off the menu, and yet it is still showing the old menu online! The wonderful crab cakes are no more and mussels and frites are also gone! My dinner and my friends dinner was mediocre at best. The bread was cold and tasteless, and the salmon was boring. Very disappointed. Will not return! BTW... it was expensive!
We ate here prior to attending a Pittsburgh Public Theater performance and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. 2 of us had the scallops with saffron risotto and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The other person had the grouper with roasted veggies and a potato cake and it was also excellent. Each of us had a cocktail that was excellent and creative. Our waitress Autumn gave us very good service. It was a delightful meal in a lovely atmosphere.
Reservations for 7 pm on a theatre night (not attending) caused some delay in being seated on time. 15 minute delay. Visited by manager to explain. Good service after that. Da restaurant emptied by 8 pm. Auiet and atemtivrxafter that. My bad. Choose times carefully and check other event schedule before choosing time, if flexible.
The restaurant was very crowded before several shows in town. Service from the kitchen was very slow for chicken and steak dinners. Picking the right menu items requiring the shortest cooking times was beneficial.
The restaurant was not well staffed. service was slow and the food was terrible.
Service slower than in the past. Wasn't crazy about the current menu,
The food is always impressive and never disappoints.
Would like to commend our particular waitress on her level of service. On a particularly busy evening, she remained attentive and most of all pleasant and accommodating. Please recognize and commend her in some fashion!
Very disappointed in our service. It took the waiter forever to even take our drink order, so by the time he came we ordered our meals as well. 15 minutes went by and we never saw our drinks. We asked him for them and he never returned so we had to ask another waiter and he ultimately brought us our drinks. Same issue happened when trying to get a box for leftovers . Cesar salads were highly disappointing as well. I expected better quality for the price we paid. Way too overpriced.
Everything was good until it got busy. We got there early and recieved our drinks and bread quickly. Our meal came shortly after and was awesome. Then the restaurant got busy and everything stoped. The table next to us never got waited on and the table next to that took over an hour to get their drinks. It took us a long time after our meal for the waiter to show up. Then it took an extra 55 minutes to get our dessert. And when we got it the ice cream was melted. If it wasn't for the best tasting steaks I ever had I would give only 1 star.
As usual, Autumn our server made our visit most enjoyable and pleasant. She took time to answer my tedious questions about the specials. I wanted to make sure that I had heard "beet" and not "beef" for the pasta special. I am so pleased that I chose that especially once we had learned that the menu had changed and the one that I found online did not match up. I was actually hoping to have the duck that night, but settled for the surprisingly scrumptious beet linguine. I am also glad that I brought with me my "readers" as the font on the menu is so tiny, we noticed seniors at other tables using their blinding LED lights in order to read them. I really miss having the bread with spreadable sea salted butter too. Who wants bread that you dip into something that is going to drip on your clothing? My partner and I would usually split the cheese board, but, alas, that too is gone off the menu. We actually overheard a table bemoaning the fact that their beloved sandwiches and burgers were gone too. What has become of the beloved and cherished menu that brought us back to Braddock's? The beer cheese soup was beyond excellent!!! I was so wanting to lick my bowl clean!!! Another blow was finding out our members card from the Cultural Trust was no longer accepted. We love the atmosphere, we love Autumn, we love the bar, we just don't know how often we can afford to come back with the menu being stripped of some of our favorite meals. My partner and I will have to discuss how we frequent Braddock's in the future. Maybe for certain select shows we have subscribed to.
Food was disappointing... Brushette was on cold stale untoasted bread. Cheese soup was tasty. Fried zucchini was drowning in sauce...would have been presented on a plate with smaller container of sauce... Meat and cheese plate was skimpy for the price...drinks as always were good...
very good atmosphere but poor quality food for the price. For the prices, we expected the food to be much better than it was. Service was great also, but please find a new chef.
Fabulous service. The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had. The salmon was also superb.
Great place for dinner prior to attending a Cultural District event. Food is always good. The service is always excellent!
This was our downtown go-to dinner place for several years on evenings that we attended shows and concerts, probably 9 or 10 times per season. At our first visit since June, we were disappointed by the changes that have been made by the Marriott chain that bought the Renaissance Hotel. Menu has gotten pretty pricey ($26 for a handful of pasta and four medium shrimp) while portions have gotten smaller and the food is not well prepared. (My fettuccine was vinegary--so bizarre.) Staff seemed really rushed even though there were a number of empty tables, so the relaxed and friendly atmosphere we were used to is also gone.
We enjoy Braddock's menu and we especially appreciate their excellent service -- it is friendly and yet always correct. They are extremely good at adapting to the particular occasion -- birthday, anniversary, out-of-town relatives, etc.
This the second time that we visited Braddocks. Both times we have had excellent meals, great service, and great selection of entrees to choose from. Like many restaurants today, Braddocks can be a little on the loud side depending on where you are seated. I would eat here again when we are back in Pittsburgh.
Mike the bartender was amazing. His service and cocktails were second to none! The food was excellent.. One of the best steaks I have ever had and it was cooked to perfection.
Very good food, service a little slow but not too bad. Attentive service otherwise.
The food was amazing. Drinks were fabulous. Ambience was nice. Great for dates or nice outing. Excellent service and plates.
Not sure why they changed their menu. The ramen bowls don't fit with the rest of the sandwich style menu. Got steak over beet salad and it was mediocre. Side of fries were underseasoned and mushy. Disappointed because I absolutely loved the first time I went there - the second visit was underwhelming. Will maybe give it one more try before giving up on them.
Overall our experience here was very good. Only downsides: I felt the wine by the glass was overpriced and definitely not “a generous pour”, and we were seated at a two-person table at which my direct view was the Out kitchen door. Wish I would have requested a change in seating because it is a lovely restaurant elsewhere.
We enjoyed good service, good food, and good conversation in a lovely, comfortable setting.
The restaurant presented good service good food quiet atmosphere for me and my date. I would definitely come back the salmon was excellent
Thanks to Matt !! You made our day ! Great drinks and service !
A beautiful old building, but not an intimate atmosphere as I expected. Music too loud and not the mellow kind that makes better background music.
Service was not prepared to handle a crowd. Food tasted wonderful. I did need gluten free due to allergies and was told it was; my body says, not the case. If not in a rush or no allergies would have been great!
I'm rarely disappointed at a restaurant with these price points. Our server was fine, but the kitchen was very slow in getting our appetizer, salads, and especially our main courses out. It took over 45 minutes after our salads to get our entrees. We were asked after we ordered if we were trying to make a theater show--we were not, and I wonder if we were de-prioritized in the kitchen because of this. My husband ordered the fish and chips, a house specialty, and they were soggy, bland, and oily. The manager comped our entrees and apologized. Our pork belly quesadilla, salads, and my ravioli entree were delicious. Unfortunately, because of the very slow service, we will likely not return.
Had dinner here before a concert at PNC Park. The food was prepared well and was visually pleasing. The waitstaff were very professional and nice to talk to. The restaurant was clean, comfortable and visually pleasing. I would eat here again.
The wait staff was exceptional from our hostess to our server. The chef stopped by to talk about the catch of the day and obviously loved his work. I would recommend Braddock's to anyone wanting a nice meal in downtown Pittsburgh.
