Seafood
In a world where landmarks are few and far between there is Gladstones. Situated where Sunset Boulevard meets the Pacific Coast Highway, it's become a place of Southern California legend. Gladstones offers a menu plucked from the very ocean it overlooks, serving modern renditions of classic dishes. In its typically relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, there's something to satisfy every palate. Whether you're at the raw bar, the lounge, the dining rooms or the grand patio over-looking the surf, it's commonly agreed there's no better place, either up the coast or down, to enjoy fresh seafood, a Mai Tai or a sunset. Gladstones has been named an "Editor's Pick" in Sunset Magazine, one of Gayot.com's "Top 10 Outdoor Dining Restaurants" in L.A. and one of CBS Los Angeles's "Best Seafood" restaurants.

Excellent service and delicious food. The table location was perfect to take in the most beautiful sunset. Ambience was great if you’re after a casual dinner at the beach.

I would definitely recommend Gladstones on Pacific Coast Highway to a friend. The food and drinks were amazing. I absolutely loved the to go foil wrapping of the leftovers. Dinner was pricey but well worth it.

Gladstones is a perfect spot for a celebratory meal or special occasion. The scenery is amazing, the food is delicious and the drinks are great (particularly the bloody Mary's!). The prices are too high for Gladstones to be a regular spot but for a special occasion it is not overrated and I would recommend.

Overpriced for what you get. Incredibly average service. If you’re going to spend that kind of money there are much better places one can go for seafood. I would not recommend anymore.

Loves this restaurant. Right on the beach, was not smelly, was clean, everyone was very friendly. Had two little ones that were running around and no one seemed to care. Greatest thing ever. They do have a play area for kids and hopscotch. The sand was literally at your feet.

We went mostly because of Gladstone's reputation; this place was a "must-go-to" a couple of decades ago. I would say being right on the beach is the biggest draw and the thing they charge for. The food was fine, but not memorable. Service was also fine. No real objections - just didn't think it was worth the cost of most of the entrees. Fortunately, they do have clam chowder and a few less pricey options.

Always a “must go to” for us when rolling thru the LA area. It’s simply a wonderful atmosphere right at the Pacific shoreline, great food & drink and the most beautiful LA sunset (it’s free though). Will return next time 100%

It had been well over a decade since I had last been to Gladstones. Now married and a mother of two teenagers, I was so excited to bring my family to Gladstones as my memories of eating there when I was younger were so positive. I am hoping that our experience is simply limited to Sunday Brunch, but it was the biggest disappointment of our family weekend trip to LA, which we took last minute to wrap up the kids' holiday break. Our service was decent, but the food was below average: Coffee was not hot; eggs Benedict with crab had very little hollandaise sauce; I paid ~ $10 for a side of breakfast potatoes since, per the menu, my eggs Benedict did not come with breakfast potatoes but when my food arrived, my plate was full of potatoes, in addition to the side order, which I was still charged extra for (I had no need for 2 full orders of breakfast potatoes); the frisee salad tasted like someone had dumped several tablespoons of salt all over it (I don't salt my food, so I know it wasn't me); the fruit that came with my son's pancakes was soft and tasteless; my daughter's veggie omelet looked plastic, not fresh, and she could barely eat it; and notwithstanding what the menu said, they had no soy, almond or alternative milk product (really? In Los Angeles, of all places?). I grew up in the LA basin and lived in Beverly Hills years ago. I have been to Gladstones many times, but thinking back on it, my experiences there must have been at dinner time. Do yourself a favor - don't go for brunch. I wish I would've known, as we ruined our appetites and wasted our money. At least it was a beautiful morning and the views were amazing.

We have been to Gladstone's a number of times over the years. It is usually a festive and lively crowd. We arrived around 8:15 on New Year's Eve expecting a pretty full and festive atmosphere. Somewhat disappointingly, there were no decorations or signs of New Year's Eve and the place was half empty. So, it really didn't feel like a celebration. The food was fine. It is over-priced, but you are paying for the beautiful Pacific Ocean view, unless you go at night! The crab legs were tasty ($70/pound), the filet mignon tender ($60), and the lobster mac and cheese was a hit with my teenage sons. Overall it was a bit meh. Best for summer cocktails and appetizers- I'll be skipping the evening celebration there next year.

Splurged on the clam bake, which was a mountain of food. The whiskey smash cocktail was great as was the service. But the best part was arriving early (4:30) to get a window booth facing the ocean and watching the sunset.

Restaurant was under staffed. SLOW kitchen. Took 50 minutes to get bread for the table and then 57 to get our food. Party of 3 adults and 2 kids. Kids food came out quickly. Our server was great but was given too many tables. Not his fault.

The food was bland, lackluster. Not the usual fair I was used to. The was another waiter (Caucasian man with black shorts) that kept staring down my date. The waiter was disrespectful. Our waitress was great. The host was awesome. There weren’t many people there. Made me wonder if the restaurant was losing its flavor. Not worth the prices you had to pay.

The ambiance at Gladstone’s is second to none. It’s right on the beach and beautiful. Parking is $11. We had a reservation at 1pm for Brunch and arrived 10 minutes early. We were not seated until 1:30. Our waitress did not come to get our order until 1:45pn. We waited around for appetizers for another 30 minutes. Then drink orders. Then finally food. The bill for 3 adults and a child was $170 minus gratuity. If the service was better we wouldn’t have minded paying the price, however it wasn’t. We will be giving Gladstone’s a second chance and hoping it was a fluke.

I've lived through many iterations of Gladstone's over 30+ years, and this one is not the best. You absolutely cannot beat the location and the view, and that makes it all worth it. Don't go for the food or the service, though. It took a really long time to order, then to get our drinks, then to get the food. Over an hour in total, BUT WE WERE SITTING BY THE OCEAN ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY. My New England clam chowder was really gloppy (is that a word?) and didn't have a lot of clams. It definitely had a lot of salt, though, because I was bloated for 24 hours afterward. Not worth it. Little bit of a bummer that the shrimp and crab Louie salad had a total of two shrimp. And, sadly, the Bloody Mary was not up to snuff - kind of watery, not quite flavorful enough, but I did appreciate the two olives.

Food was amazing, waiter didn’t show any enthusiasm, then when a group sat next to us he was engaged and explained specials and happy hours which would’ve been nice to know. Instead we went to the bar to ask for a happy hour menu. Overall food and views were amazing just wish the service was as good too!

If all you want is a great view and a pacific sunset, then this is the place to be. The cocktails were good and service was pleasant, nothing special, though their steamed clams were outstanding. The surf and turf left little to be desired especially with a $95 +$10 for lobster price tag. I expected more from a restaurant who specialty is seafood.

For its prestigious location and amazing views, the quality of the food and service does not stand up. The fish n’ chips were wet/soggy, the soups cold. I will say the Lobster Mac n Cheese was good. Our lunch was 2 hours long only because our waiter disappeared for 30 minutes at a time. He never even asked how the food was. We had to ask other waiters to go find him, or to help take our order. If you want a nice view, go for it, but don’t count on a decent price or experience.
