I’m visiting the city for business and found Mercadito walking distance from my hotel. The food and drinks were outstanding however the service was a little sporadic and they were not that busy for a Sunday night.

Service was impeccable. Food came out in timely manner. Drinks understandably a bit slow and noise level makes in hard to have a conversation without adding to the decibel level. Will go again. Recommended.

Came for a date with my finance, and it was over crowded couldnt even slide into my seat without bothering the table next to us. You can get better quality food and drinks for 1/3rd of the price at a spot in pilsen. Order a drink and it takes about 30 min for it to arrive. You are elbow to elbow regardless how far out you made your reservation and can barely fit the food and drinks on the table. Wouldn’t come back if it was free. Overpriced Mexican food with low quality service in my eyes.

Everyone was nice. I have booked a last minute reservation. The food was excellent. The guacamole was so delicious. One of the best I ever had. Server say Andre’s G on receipt. He was great and kind. I think he was behind the bar also. Still very attentive. Thank you

They have a policy where food comes out as it's finished. I ordered quesadillas and my friend ordered enchiladas. They came 20 minutes apart. Not a great dining experience because of this.

The food and drinks were very good, enjoyed the smoked brisket taco the most. However, the overall experience was not a good evening out because they brought our drinks, chips and salsa, and tacos all to the table at the same time. No effort to time the food or create a nice dinner experience allowing time for conversation or to enjoy the drinks. $100 for 2 drinks and 2 taco plates and then expected to leave ASAP so they could turn the table. Not my idea of a good night out. Also, they tacked on a 3% surcharge with no explanation, menu just said fee added to all bills for literally no reason, which amount to raising prices without having to update the menu.

Everything was incredibly rushed. We were out of there in a speedy 40 minutes, and the table next to us came after us and left just before us - so it wasn’t just us. If they would have slowed the service down a bit we would have ordered more drinks! It was early - 6pm. All the tables weren’t filled and no one was waiting in line, so we didn’t see the reason for the huge rush to get us out of there. The food and drinks were really good though.

Amazing food and great service. Tables are a bit small making it difficult to keep all the food and feel comfortable. The proximity of the tables is an issue for noise level and ambiance- you can literally hear other people’s conversations. It is unclear how to make reservations to their main vs annexed dining rooms. I am sure the experience in the main room is better.

Attention to detail was great! Never let our water glasses get low. We didn’t tell the staff it was our daughters birthday but they overheard a toast we made and surprised the table w a dessert and sparkler and wished her a happy birthday. That was fabulous.

This was one of our favorite Mexican spots for years but the first time we’d been to Mercadito since the pandemic. We were rushed through the meal, margaritas were mediocre. Food was just OK.

Food is good but the place is EXTREMELY loud! Can’t even hear table conversation on a 5 top. Staff was constantly hovering to pick up plates and unfinished serving dishes. Very annoying when three different people come by within 2 minutes and ask if your finished. First greeting we got at the door is “we have a 90 minute table limit.” Place had many empty tables during the 67 minutes we were there. It’s losing its charm amidst a competitive restaurant landscape.

The tacos were fairly unique and some of the best I've had. The cocktails were imaginative. My wife ordered "Big Nose Goes to Mexico" and it came with a portion of it on fire. Five stars for presentation if nothing else (she liked the flavor as well). The food and drinks are somewhat expensive for what you get, but it's River North. No shock there. The service was good but not outstanding. Our waitress was somewhat curt with us and we're not fussy, high-maintenance diners. You never know what's going on at the restaurant behind the scenes or in your server's personal life. There were some delays in the service as well but nothing unacceptable or to a point that it ruined the night. Overall, I would return and would recommend the restaurant. It has trendy decor and an energetic vibe. It was definitely busy and people were enjoying themselves.

Great food and drinks. Service was a little slow and the restaurant was very warm. Then there was a 3% surcharge on our bill which was nothing more than margin enhancer for the restaurant because they claimed that they weren’t making enough money on $16 margs and $20 tacos
