King Tide Fish & Shell
We do that with a blend of the traditional and the non, the comfortable and the slightly twisted, the satisfying food and the swinging drink.
King Tide Fish & Shell embraces the Shared Plate philosophy that encourages more people to enjoy more flavors in more ways than any single plate can accommodate. And because we're Portland, we make it as local as possible. When we see water we think fish, so you'll find plenty of it on our menu. Basically, we just like to keep it fresh.
King Tide Fish & Shell is where food & drink & people always complement each other, and everything goes with the view.

We were the only guests in the restaurant. We counted over 6 staff (between kitchen and serving) and we were three guests. It took an hour and a half to deliver an appetizer and an entree. No cocktails. No dessert. Took 10 minutes to get the attention of a server to get salt to the table. Food was hot and tasty, but definitely not worth the cost or wait. Lights were very bright inside restaurant, so we were unable to see the beautiful view outside.
Lobster Bisque was too salty.
Lobster roll had so many shell fragments that my wife had to stop eating it.
Rib Eye was cooked perfectly (pink but not too bloody) but lacked flavor. It might have been a poor quality of beef, but I am not sure.
The bread was very good.
For some reason, their salad also tasted so salty that I did not want to finish it.
When we mentioned all this to the waiter, he insisted that he reduce our bill. We did not intend that, so we tipped the difference.
We had an excellent meal coupled with some great service. Our food was beyond our expectations particularly the eel and muscles.
Great wait staff, food was terrific and served in a timely manner
Great sesfood, love the different choices!
Absolutely incredible food, service and ambiance
I read other reviews about having bland food, so somewhat reluctant on our selections. However, we were not disappointed at all! We enjoyed oysters, tuna, scallops and the deviled eggs - all highly recommended! Not all of the wait staff were up to the task, but our primary waiter did a great job in helping us with the selections and checking in.
I’m certain we’ll be back to partake!
Top five in Portland, if not the top. Fantastic chef!
We can't wait to go back.
I loved the lobster rolls and the deviled eggs with crab. The view of the river is sweet, service excellent.
Nice view of the Williamette River. We walked here from Marriott Downtown Waterfront to havebreakfast.
Good food and great service. Reasonable prices.
We were visiting from the East Coast and selected this restaurant based on previous open table reviews that mentioned great water views. Well that wasn’t the case but the food was fabulous! We had excellent service and advice from the hostess as well as our server Jacob. He helped us with wine selection as the listing is all Oregon and Washington choices. We started with a prawn cocktail...shrimp where we come from.. delicious! We both chose halibut with bearnaise butter.... so delicious! But the accompanying asparagus was so wonderful. It appeared to be just grilled but the flavor was memorable. The bulgar salad was unusual and perhaps not to our taste. Such a lovely bar area with a fireplace nook. We were very pleased.
Very good food prepared to perfection with a very attentive and friendly staff..
Friendly service, tasty food, on the expensive side
We had our 20th anniversary dinner at King Tide Fish and Shell. Our server, Jonas, was just perfect. He was very friendly, and his food knowledge was excellent. It was quiet when we were there, so we got plenty of attention without it feeling like too much. The manager (Melissa?-so sorry if I’m wrong) came and visited a few times- she was wonderful, too. The food was excellent. I was craving some fresh grilled salmon, and it came with a bulgur wheat terrine, grilled asparagus, and salsa verde. We also had a beautiful flatbread and the konpachi. Our compliments to Chef Lauro and his stellar staff! Oh- don’t miss out on Chef’s housemade hot sauce.
we had sunday brunch so menu was limited. however, view of the river was great and service was excellent.
Service was great, food delicious. Our primary waiter Brian was engaged, friendly and professional. Nice Evening !
Wonderful brunch with great seafood. Nice atmosphere
Our dinner on the occasion of our anniversary was good, the service was great, the view was wonderful, but wow! that dinner was SO expensive! You may want to talk about revising some of your prices.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. But they were forgetful and service was slow. We were staying at the Hotel and not in a rush, but the slow service was still very much noticeable. I was disappointed by the food... maybe I came with too high of an expectation based on other reviews. The clam fries were too creamy and heavy. The view is nice. I’d go back for drinks and HH but most likely not for a full meal.
Great food, wine and service. A truly special meal
Went for our 24th wedding anniversary. Crab cake appetizer was outstanding as was the lobster tortellini. Halibut was very good just a tad dry. The deviled eggs were recommended which were good but the crab on top tasted a little fishy. Wine pour was a bit small. Overall great greeter, waiter, atmosphere and we’ll go again!
We were on a short trip to Portland, OR and enjoy dining at local restaurants. This restaurant was very good. It was not very busy but steady. The restaurant is situated on the riverfront area of Portland. The food was wonderful and great tasting. My only issue would be that the food arrived somewhat warm and not very hot. The wait staff was very and knowledgeable and the menu selection was fabulous. The crab cakes appetizer were some of the best I’ve had.
Food was very good, excellent service yet poor ambiance. No booths or comfortable furniture.
Service was exceptional. Food delightful. Setting lovely. Price a bit high. Overall, I shall return.
Good food; nice setting. Lobster roll was super tasty. Service was a little rough around the edges, but pleasant (timing/communication needs refinement). All in all, a nice evening meal!
Beautiful waterfront view, great, attentive service, seafood cooked to perfection. I chose this restaurant for my birthday and was not disappointed. I was surprised to find a place that had such a nice view/location that didn't rely on just that.
Solid brunch place. Pickled deviled eggs were fantastic. Followed that up with a Kedge seafood platter for two. Great, fresh seafood. Smoked mussels, oysters, shrimp and ceviche were plenty for the two of us.
This is one of our favorite Portland Restaurants. We were a little nervous when the restaurant changed from Three Degrees to King Tide, however, the chef works his magic well! I love the menu change and the patio is probably the best in Portland!
The Service and Food were both exceptional. The Chef had special seafood touches and menu options that are rare finds. There was a wide variety of seafood choices, with preparation and sauce choices as well. Nice OR/WA wine selection.
The only input would be on slow service. The drinks took a long time and the food as well. The restaurant wasn’t very busy at this time. Otherwise everything was great.
Server was knowledgable and friendly and food was delicious, but it just felt a bit slow.
Excellent service, very good food and drink, nice outside patio dining on a warm summer evening. Patio is above the riverwalk, which gives a bit more privacy from the passing crowd.
Wonderful experience! We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had been there once before and really enjoyed the experience so I selected this for his birthday dinner. We were not disappointed! Crab cakes, clam chowder (a special presentation) and deviled eggs are amazing and must have dishes. King Tide Fish and Shell is a real winner!
Amazing food and wonderful service. Highly recommend the smoked mussels. Very innovative menu.
King Tide Fish & Shell was very accommodating right from the start. We spoke with the super nice Hostess an hour before our reservation requesting a special table and she came through with flying colors. The service was everything you would expect at a high end hotel restaurant. Brian, our waiter, did an outstanding job of taking care of us without hovering, he was there when we needed him.
My wife had a salad and crab cakes which she enjoyed very much. I had a Caesar Salad and the Lobster Tortellini, both were absolutely amazing. The wine list is made up mostly of Oregon and Washington choices which suited us just fine.
We will definitely be back!
Not a fan of the atmosphere. Indoor seating open to the kitchen, almost feels like a casual breakfast spot in the hotel. Outdoor seating better but not by much. Rock fish was NOT appetizing. Nothing special about the poke. Chocolate cake was yummy . Overall, I won’t be dining with them again. It was a meh experience along with the food.
Fried calamari is fabulous and the serving is quite plentiful, with an excellent sauce to accompany it. One guest had the gnocchi, and the other two of us had the salmon, and all the dishes were beautifuly presented and very tasty. One guest had the "chocolate cake for two" and absolutely loved it.
We ate on the deck, so it was very pleasant and not noisy at all.
excellent service snd great tasting food!
Excellent. Party of four shared the "catch" - a four pound turbot. Beautiful patio overlooking the Willamette
Excellent seafood dinner, beautifully presented, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend their ceviche, clam chowder with clams in their shells, halibut, salmon, and chocolate cake for two.
We came here for a late dinner before viewing the fireworks. Food was fine, but not exceptional, and the somewhat limited menu seemed even more limited to me because I’m celiac and can’t have any gluten. I finally settled on their deconstructed clam chowder, but failed to see the point. I had to shuck the clams, and the other ingredients, served to the side, didn’t have time to soften or integrate with the chowder. The salad was fine, though, and I know my daughter and husband enjoyed their hamburger and fish and chips.
