Was visiting from Los Angeles where there is amazing Vietnamese cuisine but this restaurant blew me away. Great service, incredible food, super unique. Glad to see this in Pilsen

My wife and I sat at the bar. Our mixologist was very professional and knowledgeable. It was our first time there and asked for recommendations on food and drinks. He didn’t disappoint. My wife had the pink lady and I had the old-fashioned, Both were delicious. The dishes are shareable. Every bite was as good as the next. We had a great experience.

Very nice experience all around. We’ve been there twice, both times for happy hour (4 to 5:30) at the bar. Happy hour food menu is smaller, of course, but offers a good cross section (about ten items) of the main menu. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. Only negative: parking is a challenge….basically the side streets north and south of 18th St are resident only so allow extra time to find a spot on 18th.

This restaurant was highly rated amongst multiple Chicago top restaurant lists. We ordered the tasting menu for two. The fish cakes were dull grey, mostly egg, and were flavored by only nuc mam. The rice cracker was very bland and flavorless. Main course consisted of whole fish and pork belly. The pork belly was sweet, unless you hit a flavor nodule, then it was spicy. There was no marrying of flavors. The fish was advertised as deboned but it was not. Dessert was average. The white wine was served warm and the red wine was served cold. There was no complexity or depth to the flavors in any of the dishes. We lived in Houston for 10 years and have a lot of experience with Vietnamese cuisine, and this isn’t it. Our evening was in no way worth the time, money or travel. The James Beard folks should be looking elsewhere.

Excellent experience. We got a side of fingerling potatoes and a dessert on the house from the chef, so that was much appreciated! All of the other guests were first time diners and kept saying how wonderful the food was, so we kept re-ordering new favorites like the grilled oysters, the grilled jumbo prawns, the Baby Clam salad. The drinks were all amazing. It was all delicious. 10/10, we would all definitely go again! Also, the Fluke was wonderful as well. Thanks for the great experience and dinner.

We had an incredible meal at HaiSous! They delivered a wonderful Vietnamese dining experience with its beautifully crafted tasting menu. We especially enjoyed the rice crackers with noodles, the guava salad, and the delicious roasted pineapple and coconut dessert. Highly recommend!
