What Insiders Are Saying
Mario Batali’s Gramercy-based Spanish tapas haven is still a must visit restaurant. Get in line for some jamón serrano.
The food and everything else were wonderful. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hadn’t been there in years but now look forward to getting there often
The best of everything at fair prices! Great spot, especially at not too noisy off hours.
Disappointed that menu at restaurant was much abbreviated than what was shown on website. However, every seafood dish selected was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
Very cold when the door opens. Space extremely small.
Food was great as always.
Just because you sit at the bar doesn’t mean that you should be ignored/invisible.
Zero hospitality and a big let down.
Always consistently excellent, with friendly and helpful staff
Great food. We ordered 5 small plates and 1 dessert for 2 people. Loved 5 out of the 6 dishes. We were a little uncertain about the sea urchin with walnuts but the ingredients are of good quality. The foie gras is one of the best I had in the city so far (though the sauce could be a little less salty). Our server is very friendly and passionate. Definitely on the list of worth revisiting.
Phenomenal experience at Casa Mono. Every bite was an explosion of flavor and savored every bite. The sommelier helped us pick an amazing bottle of wine which was superb with the meal. Highly recommend for special occasions. It is expensive but definitely worth it.
we liked every single thing about this place. we liked every single thing about this place.
Seating and table size made this restaurant not recommended
Dinner was not enjoyable with strangers on top of you
Great meal - fabulous food, and excellent service! We were there for nearly 4 hours over dinner, and we were not hurried at all. Very, very reasonably priced - I was pleasantly shocked when we got the check! Definitely plan to return!
Awesome food and great atmosphere
Food was great, but service was kind of slow and not very attentive. Food was very flavorful though, a bit on the strog/salty side.
Good service. Food is authentic in general.
Small cosy happening restaurant.
Nice dinner experience.
LOVE Casa Mono and our most recent visit did not disappoint! Extra fun sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen to watch every dish being prepared. Service was wonderful as well!
Minuscule portions. $7 dollar wines sold for $80 but this is nyc these days. I wonder what would be the benefit/cost advantage of adding one more scallop to a $22 plate ...ummh. Those scallops are great btw!
Outstanding service , food was prepared perfectly great flavor combinations. Wil l recommend to everyone.
Seating was poor
Have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. From the service to the ambience to the food it was delightful. Only one problem, we didn’t get to taste everything on the menu. So now we will have to go back! Waiters explained every dish and made great suggestions for us as well. You must have a reservation as the place was really busy
Loved the warmth of this place. Also the bar next door Bar Jamon is a must visit.
very friendly and witty waiter made our dinner outing a super fun evening
2nd time I have had lunch at Casa Mono. I love sampling lots of different things and the wide variety of the menu is perfect. The chef has taken some creative license with traditional Spanish tapas and in every instance I tried, the outcome was delicious. I have not eaten a lot of goat in my lifetime but I will certainly order goat when I next return to Casa Mono! Great desserts as well.
Beautiful food, loved it. Well cooked, nice mix of ingredients. Would be great to see some more healthy (or healthier) choices. A little overpriced for the shared plates. Service was excellent.
Outstanding food ! Will definitely recommended
La comida estuvo ok pero nos dieron un vaso roto y nos cortamos un dedo.
Great Food. Seating way to tight. Noisy Loud because so small is f eating area.
Amazing food! A bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
Casa Mono is my favorite restaurant in NYC. And I was surprised to find that at lunchtime it is kid-friendly.
Flavorful dining. A menu that stands out.
Food is always excellent; but no A/C on a warm day, and not much air circulation where we were seated in a corner - hence a few flies hovered throughout our meal
This restaurant is exceptional. Amazing food, great ambience.
Very few customers for lunch so not much ambiance. Nice decor. Imaginative, tasteful and satisfying tapas overall although a bit uneven - some exquisite like fois gras, some less so like serano ham on baguette. Very pleasant house wine. Overall a nice place for a light and tasty lunch.
1/2 bottle of magnum wine was spilled however we only received $20 back out of a $275 bottle of wine.
One star Michelin restaurant serving exquisite tapas with one of the cities largest list of Spanish wines
Despite what we were told portions are not tapas sizes and too heavy . The marrow with three 5 inches half bones was huge. The sitting is very cramped. The food is good but not at the expected level given the one Michelin star.
Fantastic tapas in a fun atmosphere. Great Spanish wine list. Be sure the order the ensalada Mono, razor clams, and scallops. Also the whole animal menu is phenomenal. Sit at the chef counter and watch the plates fly. Enjoy.
Went for a birthday celebration- food and service was fabulous. We’ll return.
food is really nice and beyond expectation. Unfortunately they sold out razor when we came.
Excellent cuisine, but a bit too rushed. I took my daughter here for lunch. We ordered four dishes - (1) Confit Goat with Avocado Queso, Scallion Ash, and Pistachios; (2) Creamy Eggs with Sea Urchin, Walnuts, Lime and Ancient Anchovy Oil; (3) Fluke Crudo with Blood Orange, Lemon and Ancho Dust; and (4) Scallops with Serrano Pepper Green Curry and Minted Cashews. All four were very good but only two were outstanding. Both of us found the creamy eggs with sea urchin just a bit too rich. We loved the confit goat and the avocado in that dish was extraordinary (seemed to be grilled, bursting with flavor). We also loved the scallops with green curry. The fluke crude was okay but not that interesting. So we'd go there again, but we'd be careful about ordering. However, one thing that wasn't great is that we were essentially rushed through our meal. Between when we arrived and when we got our bill was maybe 30 or 40 minutes. A bit too fast for any Michelin starred restaurant. Not sure how to get them to slow down.
