Not a great experience. Place was empty at 7p and made us wonder how we managed to pick it. Food wasn’t great. Lasagne is a staple in any Italian restaurant, it’s a dish you have to perfect.
Really awesome service. Food is delicious. Wine could be 10 percent cheaper, or could have half bottle options. Overall we loved it, and look forward to the next time.
Brought my clients in from Ottawa Ontario Canada. The food was great and would go back again for sure.
What a quaint place! Wonderful food and service. Highly recommend led lunch spot!
Great attentive service, and good space for our large party.
The food is consistently excellent. The owners are charming and attentive. It is as authentic an Italian restaurant as possible outside of Italy. It reminds me of the good, old fashioned Italian restaurants I grew with in Brooklyn.
I was able to get a reservation easily and this was my second time dining at La Briciola. The first time was a family dinner and we all loved it. This last occasion was for a dinner with a friend. I wanted a very good restaurant walking distance from the train station with a "safe" walk for an older woman(me). I was early and my companion was late, but I was never rushed or treated with anything but graciousness. I would go back and back!
The service was absolutely terrific - great local spot you would never think about - homemade pasta that was wonderful - just asked for recommendations and they were great.
The waiters were very nice but the service was slow and disorganized since it even took us 20 mins to see a menu. Wine, coffee and dessert plus the calm atmosphere were nice. Food was hit or miss but I will be back to try their homemade pasta!
Great food with excellent service staff
Friendly service, lots of food options and unique preparations, good prices and nice atmosohere for a very good price. Well worth the short walk from the convention center.
Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and the experience was just simply amazing. Our meal was delicious (had the tagliatelle w/ salmon and he had the seafood lasagne). We brought our own bottle of wine, but the server uncorked our bottle for us. I asked the server for the chocolate cake and asked him to write a happy birthday message for us. He did and the dessert looked amazing. I am very satisfied with my reservation here and would definitely come back.
Excellent Italian meal - homemade pastas are fantastic. The filet mignon was huge and delicious.
We eat at La Briciola whenever we visit SF. It holds up to any NY restaurant
Authentic Italian specialties, rabbit stew like grandma (Nonnie) used to make when I was a child. Very attentive staff and relaxing atmosphere. Enjoyed the experience.
This place Has the charm and attentive Old World service and ambiance that has left North Beach.
And the food is surprisingly moderne without losing the old style comforting aspects.
The server was so much fun...
The staff made our first visit very special. We will be back!
Traffic getting into SF, especially SOMA area is atrocious any day and more so on Fridays with a big event at AT& T Park. We were running late and called to inform the restaurant. No hassle; they were accommodating and seated us as soon as we arrived. The location is inconvenient but the service and quality of food (well curated wines too) made up for this. Will come back again.
Great service. Authentic Italian food. Nice decor. Pretty quiet. Was very pleased with the dinner.
Great flavorful food. Waiter was very nice and attentive. My husband loved the veal Marsala and my breaded chicken was cooked perfectly. The only disappointment was the bread brought to us wasn’t warm... but it was very good. We’ll definitely come back.
I took my 13 year old daughter for a mother-daughter date night. Great introduction authentic Italian cuisine. Walkable distance from the hotel, nice San Francisco atmosphere.
Net a friend for lunch. Food was pretty good. Service was solid although they forgot to provide my friend iced tea that he ordered. They promptly took off the bill and apologized. I ordered Rigatoni and sausage which was delicious just wished it came in a slightly larger portion. Overall I would recommend.
Excellent Italian dinner! The, cheese plate, wine and pasta was very good.
Excellent! Will return
Excellent in every way. Second time here and not sure I would go anyplace else in the city.
Charming---very Italian-like atmosphere.
Excellent waiter and the owner is very attentive as well.
Caesar salad---perfect---perhaps a little big for one---better to share it. ( but I ate every bite!)
Italian soup with beans--excellent broth and full of flavor.
The bread is superb--hot and crispy with a great crust but moist inside==severed with balsamic and oo.
Smoked salmon pasta with bowties. Perfect---lots of salmon--great sauce. 22$
Ribbon pasta with lamb ragu---a perfect 10. 21$
Huge portions--some to take home. Both entries are so good--next time I am going to see if they will do half and half.
Prices are reasonable---even for Halibut and Lamb Shank.
Only issue I have is wine prices. Nothing under 39$ a bottle. I am not wine person but enjoy a bottle with great dinner. Surely you can find some reds and whites in the 20-30$ range.
No room for dessert!
We will be back and tell everyone about this place. Perfect spot before or after ATT Park event.
My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place. The food is always superb and it's really nice that they know us and our preferences.
Amazing as always!
The place is phenomenal. It’s like, I’m somewhere in Italy. Just don’t look outside. Location is okay. It’s not ideal place. It should in the town of Sienna. Great food. It’s like dining in Florencia. Molto Bene! Too bad. I didn’t get to try desserts. I wanted to spend more time dining. I’ll be back.
This is the second time in a month. I love the menu and the fact that it's a "real" Italian restaurant with amazing dishes. The quality of the products are outstanding and cooked to perfection. Pasta al dente.
We were disappointed with our dinner. The main courses were uninteresting and not particularly tasty. The waiter was pleasant and friendly but he was not at all attentive and for the first half hour there was only one other table occupied. We had to wait too long for him to take our wine order. We had to wait too long for him to take our food order. I had to ask 3 times for more water. He never came to check to see if we needed anything. Maybe it was an "off night" but there are too many good restaurants in SF for us to go back and try La Briciola again.
Very bland food
Pasta is amazing here!!!
This is my second time and will def. return again. Thank you.
We ate here the night before the San Francisco Marathon. What a gem! We split the burrata and ravioli con pomodoro as well as the sfogliatine con gamberi e asparagi. We topped our meal off with profitterolles... Absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much! Would definitely recommend - off the beaten path but definitely worth it!
This gem of a restaurant was a hit from the moment we walked in! We were warmly greeted and got a table quickly. We had the best gnocci I have ever had in my life! It was the gnocci with gargonzola. The bread was fresh with a wonderful olive oil and olive dip. We had the mixed salad with vinagrette and a glass of the montelpuciano abruzzo. Everything was superb, so much so we can't wait to go back tonight and try other menu items! We chose not to have dessert cause we wanted a gelato from Coletta's which is right around the corner, AND if you feel like a bit more of a walk, stop by the wholesale flower market at 3rd and Brannon. It closes at 3 pm
This place has everything going for it except the actual food. It's a charming place with competent waiters, and the menu looks good on paper, but the execution of the menu is just not that great. The Caesar salad tasted like it was slathered with mayonnaise, the lasagne was deeply unremarkable. It seems to need a new chef.
Just family get together
A wonderful meal in a quaint restaurant very good
We ate here for an early meal prior to going to the theatre. It is an interesting location, but we were able to park on the street for free which is a bonus in SF.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was fresh and delicious. Three of us ordered different pasta dishes and one person had the seafood special. Each one of us enjoyed what we had, but I have to say the Lasagna was awesome!
I am not sure if it was the owner who waited on us, but he was friendly and recommended a lovely wine based upon what we described.
I would absolutely go here again.
The only downside it is not in a trendy or lively SF location.
I had an excellent orecchiette with wild boar and my wife had a lovely salmon. Very helpful wait staff. Wine list is nice and not over priced. Very happy to have found this place that is a bit away from our typical dining area.
