   When my steak came it was well done on the outside and raw in the middle. Rather than cook a new one they redid the original. As a result the whole steak was well done , rather than the requested medium rare: disappointing

   We are huge fans of Grill 23, out favorite steak restaurant. With the dine out Boston deal, we thought we’d bring our 9 and 12 year old for Sunday dinner. I have to say; this wasn’t our best experience. Next to no options for kids, except macaroni cheese, pasta with butter. I asked if there was a kids steak option but no. We ended up having to get my son the adult steak frites at $36 and my daughter a bowl of fries as she doesn’t eat dairy. Needless to say he ate a few fries and a tiny comer of the steak. Just a little disappointing.

   Tried the 100 aged days prime ribeye, roasted asparagus, mashed potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, creme brulee, and creme profiteroles. Everything’s was excellent, starting from the quality of raw materials ending to the level of cooking. The meat was a must… chapeaux ! Negative note for mashed potatoes and creme profiteroles. Mashed potatoes don’t worth the price also if you are at Grill23 .. the creme profiteroles were made of a hard choux that seemed like a biscuit ( plus.. in Italy no chef fill it with ice cream ..) the recipe tells “ a profiterole is a filled French and Italian soft choux pastry ball filled with a wipped cream … please write on the menu “interpretation of the chef” otherwise don’t call profiteroles. Grill23 deserve the 5 stars .. not this time though

   Our party (two adults, one child, and one baby) ordered: a couple mocktails, oysters, a Cesear salad, two tagliatelle entrees, the 100-day dry aged ribeye, and the Kobe rib cap. Price: $400 (not including tip). Service was excellent so we tipped well. The oysters were properly shucked, with most of the natural brine and sweetness left in the shell. Unfortunately, the Cesear salad had an unpleasant sour aftertaste that hinted at it being past its prime. Both of the steaks were accurately cooked to temp but were slightly underwhelming given the cost. Since my diet is almost entirely steak, I'm very skeptical of the advertised portion size for the ribeye (18oz). It was 14oz at best. The Kobe rib cap was very flavorful but not worth the $110 price tag. You can get well-marbled prime ribeye at home and cut away the cap for a fraction of the price and it will taste better. Nobody liked their tagliatelle dish, regardless of cost. We had these boxed, but they will likely end up in the trash. Overall, I really wanted to like this place. We've been to many restaurants in Boston (Mistral, Ostra, Capital Grille, Davio's, Carmelina's, etc.) and this was possibly the worst. Our experience doesn't line up with the vast majority of others' reviews, so maybe take this review with a grain of salt, but I don't know if we'll ever return.

    Too loud. I asked for my steak medium, it came out super rare still bleeding. The waiter was nice though and had them toss it back on the grill, after which it was great. The chocolate cake tasted a little burnt.

    I planned a birthday party for my wife during restaurant week in Boston - at Grill 23. We arrived on time for our reserved table and were seated within 3-4 minutes. While being seated, the host noticed that we were going to be a big squeezed and immediately offered another table option.. which was very much appreciated. Given the special occasion, it was perfect to have a corner table overlooking the city. Our server (Hector) and the team of servers were outstanding. The drinks were great, the restaurant week options were great and it was fantastic to have an excellent wine option on the restaurant week menu. The selection was perfect - a excellent cabernet. My wife received a special dessert from the restaurant and although out larger party of 7 all ordered off the restaurant week menu, we received top level service and accommodation. My family has been to Grill 23 several times and will definitely go back for dinner and other special occasion. The restaurant was very busy .. but, you would not know it.. based on the outstanding service and hospitality of our waiter .. and the supporting staff. Last, my daughter commented that this was the first time... in quite some time that the request of "rare".. was cooked perfectly to her liking. I can confirm her appreciation of getting it perfect... as most other restaurants .. have not ... for some reason. Well done. See you soon. 10/10.

    We had a terrific time. Our server Tanner was excellent and I felt as if we were treated like royalty... which we certainly are not! First time at grill 23 in about 25 years and it was really really great. Thank you

    My bad in that I broke the rule of eating fish at a steak place, but my salmon meal was just ok. Main dining room is extremely loud and our request for a quieter place was accommodated. Service was very good. Company made the experience, but given the pricing I expected a better quality of meal.

    Exquisite dining experience. The atmosphere is elegant and the food was delightful. There were many choices for drinks on the menu and our waiter was excellent on making suggestions for our friend who had some dietary restrictions and was very well accommodating. We went for dine out Boston for the first time and I am happy to say that we will be coming back. The steak that we all ordered was a little bit more on the rare side when cooked but easily overlooked by the flavor and the excellent crust that was on it.

    Great value for Boston Restaurant Week, with a three course meal for $46. The steak frites was great, and the Parmesan fries are delicious. The chocolate stout cake was a bit dry and not as tasty as it appeared.

    Our server, Michael is excellent at his job. We were all very impressed by the service level. Top marks 10/10. Very impressed with how he managed the entire evening! Really great. Food was fantastic and delivered to the table at just the right time. Oysters from PEI were very fresh and delicious. As were the cocktail shrimp!     Overall our experience was good but downstairs the tables are way too close together. Every time someone walked by they’d brush into us and we were in constant fear our drinks/food would be knocked over by someone passing by. Definitely prefer upstairs compared to downstairs.

    We sat at the bar which is what we prefer and had 2 very good martinis. We were informed of the specials and decided we were going to split several things. We shared the tuna tartare which was not good. Definitely not sushi grade tuna. The Cesar salad was split for us and was quite good. Probably the best part of the meal. For dinner we ordered the NY strip medium rare. It was so salty it was inedible. We had cut away the top and the bottom portions of the steak and probably only had 2 bites each. Our dog was the lucky recipient of the $70 steak. We did enjoy the baked potato ! The food was also so rushed. We had our apps within 3 minutes of ordering them and our steak and potato came out as soon as they cleared our appetizer plates. It was so incredibly rushed. Definitely not coming back here to eat. But maybe just for a cold martini !

    A former co-worker and I were here to celebrate my retirement. I always like to come here for special occasions, as they never disappoint. Michael, our server, had only been there for about 5 months, but it was clear why he was hired. He was knowledgeable, professional, and with a little sense of humor that we both appreciated. The food and drinks were great as always. I highly recommend for special occasions!

    Fabulous meal, great evening! Professional staff, attention to details. Lobster bisque, mussels, Caesar salad, bread, chicken and salmon all delish and the warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert was a delicious finish to a lovely dinner!
