Checked in with host. Had a reservation. He clearly ignored it since Open Table emailed to say we did not honor it. Gave us the worst table in the house. In fact, a table should never have been placed where we were seated. It was in the path of traffic so my chair was constantly bumped by waitstaff and patrons. Very noisy due to a private party in the bar. Not enjoyable

Great three course meal. Had the beef tartare (excellent) and the duck breast (also excellent). Finally had the Mille foglie dessert which was not as good as the rest. Overall great experience at Aureole

Had a fantastic meal! The only thing better than the meal was the service! From the moment we entered the restaurant to when we left we never felt so comfortable and as if we were the most important people in the restaurant. The waiter was fantastic! Being that we were celebrating our anniversary- we could not have asked for anything better!

This was my treat to myself. I’m travelling for business for two weeks in US, a single woman alone. So I end up Saturday night in NY on my own. So business expenses will not cover fine dining. So I decide to treat myself and decide after much research to visit Aureole. What a choice! From the moment I arrived I had top class service and the food was amazing. I was not made to feel awkward because I was a single diner I was not rushed as I usually am! The woman who took my order and would assume she was the manager if not she should be, was friendly informative of the menu and just made me feel welcome. The only slight negative is the waiters station which is in the centre of the restaurant and where a couple of the waiters decided to have a disagreement about who should do what and they were. A little too loud in their disagreement in such a fine restaurant. It was expensive, but it is New York! But it was worth every cent! The food was amazing

The room was spacious and the mood was very relaxed. The food was good but without a "wow" factor, and kind low pricey for what you got. Nice wine list and extensive cocktails...very gracious wait staff - they knew we needed to get to a show and they kept track of the time for us.... but they were slightly disorganized...they brought us the drinks and then the dinners for the table next to us. Everyone laughed it off... I'd recommend if you want decent food and a quiet dinner before a show.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff completely knowledgeable about their menu and wine. We ate at dining room in the back and it was quiet and comfortable. This is a 2-2.5 hour dinner and, if you’re going to a show, you should allow that amount of time to really enjoy a fine dinner. Certainly would consider returning here.

This restaurant seems to be living off past glories. Whilst the food was very nice and of a high quality, it doesn’t qualify for a Michelin Star in my book- there is no “wow factor” and when you pay $450 for two there certainly should be one! We went to Gabriel Kreuther on Thursday evening and the two restaurants are chalk and cheese, the latter being amazing.

Celebrating 30 years on 42nd St., we finally made it in and have no regrets about the experience. The front dining room was a bit noisy with uniformed hipsters when we arrived for our early (515) dinner, but the noise level subsided and by 545 they were gone to wherever it is hipsters go these days. The restaurant was marvelous: the food (we each had an appetizer, an entree and we shared a dessert) was wonderful in presentation and more importantly in taste. The service was attentive and polite. The bill wasn't inexpensive, but it was worth it to celebrate a birthday. Two thumbs up w/ no hesitation.

Really excellent service and white glove. Our waiter was pleasant and doesn't let one's personality overwhelm the food and overall ambience, which is often the case with waiters in renowned restaurant - big personality. This one is more discreet and at service. Food was great, appetizer of egg and caviar is extremely innovative and seared fois Gras was fantastic. Main was good but a bit less wow.
Two weeks ago we had dinner at Le Bernardine. Twice the cost and half the total experience is what I would conclude. I would come back here over again.

At least, the restaurant offered the dinner...

We have loved you restaurant. This time, it was just mediocre. The steak tartare was just ok and the cod was a bit overcooked and not very tasty. The desserts were delicious, the service impeccable. We decided we needed to leave at 630 pm with our server's suggestion. At 630, we were being served dessert.
I think we are going to take a break.

I’ve been here several times started with the seared foie gras with a purée of pear, black berry, ginger & brioche, all covered with a light duck jus, delicious! My main course was lamb served 2ways, s crusted & roasted loin, and a braised shoulder, served with a summer bean cassoulet, and a delicious natural lamb jus.
The shoulder melted in my mouth. For dessert I opted for the pistachio mousse which came with a quenelle of fresh fig ice cream with a caramel sauce. All very refreshing, & not overly sweet. Service here is always unobtrusive while being “spot on”. Can’t wait to return!

Very disappointing. Asked 3 times if we were attending a show, and they were still very late with our entrees. The table next to us got entrees and dessert prior to our entrees being served even though our appetizers came out 5 minutes apart. We barely made our show on time.

Food tasted good but value is poor when you get a 1/2 of chicken breast for $34.

Would not return

I am always astounded when my NYC friends, especially the theater goers, have never heard of
Aureole. It has to be best, or at least one of the best, restaurants in the theater district. And believe me , I have been to many, many restaurants in this area, Yes, it is expensive but if you can afford the Broadway tickets then you can probably afford this restaurant. You will be rewarded with incredible food and service, which is probably better than the show you saw or will see.
