I chose Provence for my birthday dinner, and for our last foray out for a while given the currnet public health concerns we are facing. The restaurant took every precaution to ensure that we were safe. Our wait staff was fantastic. The food, of course, was astounding. I started with a Chopin Martini up with blue cheese stuffed olives. I had the grilled veal loin chop with savory gingerbread strata and truffled wild mushroom ragout special (paired with a glass of Marie Antoinette Pouilly-Fuisse) for my entre and the Homard Crepe as an appetizer. I had dessert since it was a special occasion.... the Chocolate Marquis paired with a double espresso. Provence has always been one of my 'go to' restaurants as I know the food, service, and ambiance will never disappoint.

It is on the expensive side for value. Good bistro food, and on a Sunday night, acceptably quiet. Very friendly server. No tablecloth, a zinc topped table, which might be an issue for germophobes

We went to celebrate Valentines Day and found it very busy. We were seated in a crowded area and found the service to be average. They had a special Valentine's day menu which was limited to just 6 or 8 selections for the appetizer, main course and desserts. Given the limited menu, I thought the food was just average and the portions were rather small. The dinner rolls were cold, the lobster bisque was bland and the fillet and lobster tail (which was extra) came with only 1/2 of the lobster tail. The filet was good, but the food was not very hot. We have tried it twice now on Valentine's day and found it to be mediocre at best both times. Dinner for two with two drinks and tip came to $200.

Very good, however we were there on Valentines Night (we had reservations) with friends who were celebrating their wedding anniversary and the wife ordered the scallop dish and there were a few greens and what appeared to be 1 scallop cut into 3. Her plate literally had only 3 thin slices of scallops and some greens. I shared my meal with her as I had the Filet and lobster tail which came with mashed potatoes. My husband and I have eaten at your restaurant previously when it wasn't a holiday and loved the food. Otherwise the staff were extremely friendly and we had just the right amount of time to enjoy our time together, appetizers through to dessert and coffee.

It took an hour and a half for our appetizer to arrive. Our food came out room temperature. The lobster bisque didn't have chunks of lobster in it. They made it up to us by giving us our bottle of champagne for free. Wouldn't recommend this place. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

We dine at Provence often when in the Albany area, and their Valentine's Day special was fabulous: Excellent appetizer and entree selections, accompanied by prompt and friendly service. Sometimes Valentine's Day is a hit or miss with many restaurants offering the usual "surf 'n' turf" specials, but Provence went way beyond that with scrumptious halibut (served w/a lump crab arancini), and a rack of lamb with creamy polenta. The Provencal soup was also a highlight. We look forward to returning to Provence soon, especially with their monthly Universite du Vin wine dinners.

Valentine’s Day - prefixed meal - Appetizer lobster bisque was way too thick and tasted very floury with tiny bits of lobster. Not good at all. For the main meal, the waiter put in wrong order for me; when I tried to send it back, he argued with me. Then, he brought me the dinner I wanted only for it to be stone cold. I sent it back again, and this time it came back hot. Dessert and drinks were fine. Check came - waiter explained that since the other meal he put in for me was $6.00 less, he wouldn’t charge me the difference!! I left hugely angry with a ruined meal.

The appetizers were very good and the oyster recommendation from our server was spot on. The entrees were excellent. The only low point in the food was the salads. We each had the calamari and frizee and the calamari was cooked to perfection. Apologies to TV chefs, but we will leave the frizee for the rabbits! Anyway, we always enjoy the food and service at the Provence.

Nice lunch menu with good variety. The food was very good and well prepared. Service was OK, although the waitress had to be asked an multiple occasions to provide utensils that should have been provided with the food. The tart tatin was outstanding. Coffee a little pricey at 4 bucks for a 6 ounce cup (but refills were included).

My burrata salad was creative, beautiful to look at and delicious. Both of our entrees, surf and turf, and veal were delicious. Our desserts, chocolate marquis, and apple crisp were excellent. We had a great cabernet, which the waitress wrapped up for us to take home. A great dinner to start the New Year.

I have been a fan of Provence for many years, however on Avery quiet day I was very disappointed with our lunch. The French onion soup was tasteless. The hangar steak that was ordered rare was served medium well. The sauce tasted burnt. The desserts were very tasty, lemon torte, crepe brûlée and chocolate mousse. However, with the exception of the mousse, the portions seemed very small. Perhaps because the restaurant was quiet on a rainy, icy day, the waiter had plenty of time to make sure that the pace of the meal was very comfortable and he was attentive to our needs. I noted that I would still recommend Provence, but I hope diners do not experience what the five of us experienced yesterday.

We have historically loved this place, but this was not a good day. It was the day after Christmas and they seemed understaffed. It took awhile to get menus and we had to ask to order wine because when the server finally came back, she was ready to simply get our food order. The food was good. We will give it another try.

Myself and my party of three others arrived all ready for a Christmas Eve dinner. The menu consisted of seven entree choices none of which was vegetarian. I asked the waiter if I could have something made up didn’t care what it was and he said he would have to get the manager. The manager said that the kitchen cleared everything out except for the ingredients on the menu. I could have the side dishes of carrots. They could not accommodate a vegetarian entree of pasta or anything 😳. You’re telling me they didn’t even have a box of spaghetti in the restaurant!!?? My husband was taken aback as were my guests and we left and went to another restaurant which was half the price and had a wonderful dinner. Well needless to say they lost quite a few clientele when we recanted the story to others. Very disappointing!
