Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

    Started off with the oysters which where unreal, we both had the flat iron steak which was out of this world, you could of cut it with a butter knife, it just melted in the mouth. Served with chunky chips and bone marrow gravy. Everyone was very friendly and service was excellent, couldn’t fault the time we spent there last night 10/10 from us

    Came here with my partner (22 and 21) and we both ordered the Medium rare Flat Iron steak, this has to be the best steak I have ever had, same for her, we had the homemade chunky chips, which were beautiful with the steak and the peppercorn sauce, I also had the cauliflower cheese croquettes, which I wasn’t too fond of, they were most likely good as it was just me trying out something new, the service was fast and the staff were very welcoming, the only thing we didn’t like that we realised afterwards is that the still water we had for the table was £4.95, we were a bit taken aback by this, aside from that, a beautiful place to go for a date night.

    Came with the wife for Sunday Lunch after shopping,The table was booked for 13.00 and arrived at 12.30 and was greeted in a friendly manner and shown to a table straight away. We had the Sunday Roast Sharer it was absolutely delicious. We will be returning shortly for the Weekend Breakfast Brunch. All staff was polite, Efficient and Helpful from when we arrived to when we left we couldn't ask for a better experience. Only down fall is the music it was ok but it should be at an ambiance level off noise when dining. For some it seemed it can't have been as they was shouting across the table instead of just talking but I see from a lot of reviews people have said the same which you should address but it properly depends on the timeout day

    Fantastic food and service.. female bartender outstanding… her Cosmopolitan was excellent… it is a bit noisy but we easily dealt with it has a wonderful time
