Our farewell dinner at Green Zebra. We've had many wonderful meals, many celebratory, at Green Zebra. Creative and fresh offerings have been the focal point over the years. We will miss GZ as it's been a favorite of ours.

Exceptional, as always. It never fails to please, and dining at a restaurant with a "safe" (fully vegetarian) menu is a real treat, knowing I can ask my server to surprise me with a bevy of courses, all of which I'm guaranteed to enjoy. I was very sad to hear of Green Zebra's imminent closing... there is nothing else quite like it in Chicago.

We will miss the fare and the service. Elizabeth and Kevin were fantastic in their service and celebration of our son’s belated 10th birthday celebration. He left saying he would like 3 courses of the mushroom pate next time.

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago, I have been to Green Zebra many times over the years. It’s seasonal tasting menu keeps food lovers coming back. The food is creative in its focus on vegetables. So sad you are closing. Thank you!

My boyfriend and I are from Cincinnati, and we were in town for a concert, so we decided to have a nice fancy date. Green Zebra was perfect because I am a vegetarian, and we both love small shared plates. The gnocchi was divine and the cocktails that we got were amazing. I would definitely go back next time I go to Chicago.

My daughter and I are vegans, and a special night out in Chicago. Small quaint restaurant in artsy area. The food was wonderful! We shared 2 small plates and soup - oh and a taste of soup complementary of the chef, so good! They were reasonable as well, we called them as we were stuck in traffic, late for reservation, they were kind and were able to hold table.

Finally got to experience this place and it was everything and more. The food was amazing and creative and our server was attentive without being overbearing. It was the perfect dinner for our anniversary. The music and ambiance was just right. You definitely felt like you were at a high end restaurant here. I will definitely be returning to this spot.

Green zebra. Great ideas but at times poor execution. Please stop putting corn in things like burrata or gnocchi. Our server was pretty short with us. Didn’t give a proper explanation of the cheese plate and wasn’t very accommodating or even nice about how the kitchen couldn’t split the jackfruit sandwich. Great wine list with affordable choices.

I wanted to love Green Zebra, but our food was expensive without impressing us. It wasn’t that it wasn’t as advertised, it just wasn’t better than I could do at home. We were on our way to a show, in from out of town, and this place didn’t offer us what we had hoped.

The waiter was extremely rude from the time we sat down and acted as if he was repulsed by the thought of serving us. This attitude was not displayed in his interaction with any of the other tables we observed him serving, which was even more frustrating. My sister asked for a different waiter as this was our parents' anniversary dinner. The manager said she would serve us but presented with the same repulsive attitude and instead of serving our drinks and checking back if we needed water, placed the water carraf on the table with the bottle of sparkling apple cider and didn't return until after our meal was finished. It was as if to say, "serve yourselves." Luckily, and maybe upon realizing we were not being served, the very amazing hostess Sarah came and checked on us and refilled our water and drink and asked did we need anything. A busser served our meal and refilled drinks as well. After the meal the manager came back to the table with a renewed, albeit rather fake, kinder attitude. It was a bit too late. The anniversary surprise was ruined.

Mushroom madness, the chef's tasting menu, was amazing. Not sure I have had so many mushrooms in one sitting, all very tasty. No mushroom dessert though! Interesting spices with some star anise in one dish. Hmm. Great service. A Richard Thompson song in the background (on the folkier side) once. The lighting suggests a jungle with fronds reflected on the ceiling. A near perfect dining experience.

Slow service...we were there for over 90 minutes, which is too long for dinner unless you're at a banquet. Dishes were generally good but served in a way that sharing was difficult, even though they recommended sharing. Diet soft drink was very old and flat. Cheese plate was uninspired and over-priced - avoid this one. Fake pork sandwich, gnocchi, and sweet potato dishes were good.

Green Zebra is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I was visiting Chicago and looking for somewhere special to have my birthday dinner, and this was the perfect choice. The food is so creative, and every dish I tried was delicious! 2 of us split 5 different items (all are small-plate/tapas-type dishes), and that was a good amount, except sadly I had no room for dessert. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone, even non-vegetarians.

Enjoyed the meal just wasn't overly impressed with the food. I didn't feel it had tons of flavor to it. The Eggplant was pretty good but the corn bisque and Brussel sprout salad was pretty lack luster in taste. I would return to try other dishes.

Green Zebra has a very knowledgeable and friendly staff along with a fantastic menu. Wonderful variety on the menu with portion sizes to allow trying a few dishes. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a celebratory meal on Saturday evening. We had an amazing experience at the Green Zebra. The staff were incredible (including personalizing the menu with my girlfriends name because it was her birthday & we were given a complementary half bottle of champagne). The food was incredible (try the gnocchi) and the atmosphere was even better. I couldn't recommend the Green Zebra to a higher degree.

I've been here many times ad normally everything is terrific. This time it was lackluster and the seasoning of several dishes seemed unbalanced in terms of texture and seasoning. Perhaps, it was just an off night. I hope that was the case because I have had excellent food here.

Great place for vegetarians and even vegans. Did appreciate that they will note if celebrating an important occasion. Mostly unique options, but a bit of a small menu overall. All items are considered small plates. Venue is good balance between intimate and relaxed. Service can be a bit pushy with upselling. Biggest gripe: cost! Some of the dishes should cost less than half of what they are charging - the ingredients and preparation do not seem to match the listed prices.

My wife is vegetarian and it is really hard to find restaurants that offer fine dining for her tastes in food. The Green Zebra is wonderful. She enjoyed the experience immensely. As a carnivore I had a harder time, but what I did eat was fantastic. The fire roasted sweet potatoes, the cheese board, the oak leaf lettuce salad were all wonderful. I can't and won't say carnivores will be happy eating here. They won't but if you have a mixed marriage like mine you know how hard it is for your partner to eat at places you love. This puts the shoe on the other foot for a night. And it does so with beautiful ambiance and really good food. And the service here is absolutely fantastic!
