    The food is delicious: just pushing the borders of discovery while still being comforting. The waitstaff is professional and unobtrusive. They know the ever-changing menu and have good wine recommendations. The view and ambiance are delightful. This is a dining experience that never disappoints. This is a special place for any special occasion (or just a quick lunch if that's what you need).

    I had heard a lot of good things about Greens and finally today I got to experience them! We were a party of 4 and all of us had a very good experience. Great selection of cocktails, wine, non alcoholic beverages. The food was very delicious with a nice variety. Service was great. Our server was very friendly. Will definitely go back.

    While the views and the ambiance are nice, the food is only ok. Many of the dishes rely on hot spices, which is challenging for those of us who avoid spicy food. However, the biggest problem is an unspoken attitude that the customer is fortunate to be eating at the restaurant. It’s hard to describe this because the service is perfectly fine and the waitstaff is remote if not unfriendly. Rather, the restaurant falls short of being customer focused. At this time, there are many other restaurants with good vegetarian options that one might consider.

    Really enjoyed our brunch at Greens. We got a window-seat and got to enjoy our meal while being entertained by some seals and sea lions. The Autumn Hash was out of this world. We were both a little sad when we finished it. Will definitely be returning.

    We shared a small plate, 1st course and 2nd course and everything we order was delicious and flavorful. Our waitress, Chloe, was friendly and helpful. Great restaurant and great experience.

    I love this restaurant and go frequently, but had a very weird experience this time. First, the food and the server were amazing, as always.....but, as we were finishing up dessert we were very abruptly and rudely asked to leave by (I think) a manager because she wanted to seat the next party at our table. If you need to ask a party to leave because they lost track of time enjoying the wonderful food and atmosphere provided, I TOTALLY understand, just be kind about it. I understand they need to turn tables to stay in business. All we ask it that you be kind. We would have gladly moved to the bar, or just left without issue, had we just been spoken to kindly and maybe given a little warning, so we didn't need to immediately stand up and go. It seemed like she felt we were doing something intentionally hostile toward the restaurant by not realizing we had been there so long, spoke to us curtly and then stood starting at us from across the room until we got up to leave. I love this restaurant....but, now feel a bit ambivalent about going back. Not a nice way to end a birthday celebration.

    We were excited about having vegetarian meal; however, the pasta was heavy on the cream, and the wilted spinach salad was a bit too salty. The feta would have been sufficient to give it saltiness. We had chocolate flan for desert; we thought it could use some improvements because it was on the dry side.

    Green's always has tasty food! However, the service I experienced leading up to my reservation was subpar. I had a birthday reservation for 7pm and didn't get seated until 8:05pm. My party and me weren't told why the table wasn't ready, but it seemed they overbooked themselves for the night. Once we were seated we were treated lovely, but the wait up until being seated was absurd. Future suggestion - offer the guests that are waiting for a table (especially if it is going to be a 45+min wait) to get a drink over at The Interval next door.

    I favor this restaurant because of its connection to the SF Zen Center and because, obviously, it is vegetarian. But I have to admit that their dishes can be hit or miss, some flavorful, and others, too bland. Shame.

    The food at Greens has been consistently wonderful over the years when the food that was served, & prepared from sources such as as the famous Greens Cookbook and the long-term shift that was there for at least 25 years. it was my favorite go to restaurant for special occasions. Unfortunately, the menu has gone downhill over the last several years. I know I have trouble finding something on the menu to eat while to wait staff tell me what dishes have some or a lot of “heat” to them, meaning spicy or hot. Greens is not a Mexican restaurant. But it has become more so over the last several years.. I’m not sure why the new chef has decided to do this. A server now suggests that I eat the pizza of the day or week since many dishes are prepared with a lot of spice. One doesn’t have to make things spicy or hot to taste flavorful. Likewise, the restaurant seems low on wait staff . It took us three request to get our check today. Finally I said I was going to walk out without paying unless they finally gave it to us. Someone finally showed up at the table. I’m sorry to have to write this review. This restaurant is beloved by me, and I do hope that somebody will pay attention to it from the management of the restaurant. It’s a sad thing to see after all these years. I hope that something changes before Greens goes by the wayside like so many other of restaurants in San Francisco.

    A meal here is always a special treat. We've been coming for something like 35 years and are rarely, rarely disappointed. This particular meal was outstanding, from the beet hummus to the cauliflower quesabirria to the amazing tofu brochettes. One of our party is dairy-free and all the vegan options, including a wonderful hazelnut mousse and the cornbread!, were such a treat for him. The location, right on a marina with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, is just outstanding, the parking is easy, and we love to walk on the Marina Green when we're done. All in all, a wonderful afternoon.

    Waiter forgot to take my order initially and had to remind him as he was moving away that he had not asked what I wanted after taking other three orders at table. Waited about 20 mins for food. Wrong order arrived for me! Food was not adequate and one if my party had to eat again after. Did not seem like everything mentioned on the menu was on the plate. Disappointing. We are regular customers and overall felt that the quality was v poor yesterday.

    Oh Greens, how I want to love you, but today was a disappointment. We hosted a Party of Eight, birthday celebration. Service was completely unengaged. No attention unless we asked. We ordered pizza to share as appetizer: waiter brought it to table and told us to move glassware out of his way so he could put it in middle of table “I can’t reach” he claimed. (there was nothing on table other than placesettings) We brought in champagne, and after first pour (which was not done with finesse) we had to serve ourselves when glasses were empty. He took our order as if we were at a coffee shop— a couple of people had not yet made their selection. He never gently asked whether we needed more time, he just stood there waiting. Runner delivered our orders, and then no one checked on us through meal. Dessert menus dropped on table. Waiter reappeared and stood there, again, no engagement. We ordered coffees. They were delivered, and off he went. We had no spoons : we flagged someone down. it was a birthday, so he eventually brought a sorbet with a candle, placed it in front of birthday girl and walked away. Just something other than perfunctory service would have been nice. Food was fine, but the lack of attentive service really left a greater impression. The whole place lacked soul today. Sad, because we used to enjoy lovely meals here. Won’t rush back anytime soon. There is just no excuse for poor service. Thanks for helping to make a birthday brunch memorable. Not in a good way. This is when an automatic 20% service fee is insult to injury.

    The wait staff was friendly, gracious and efficient. Someone noticed that my companion gave me a birthday gift. Without any prompting by my companion, our server presented me with the most delicious, vegan chocolate ice cream with a candle. Very sweet and a nice surprise.Overall, a lovely experience.     Food was great Vegan sauce alternatives are limited and no vegan cheese substitute were available Salad with small lentils I think would be better with capers but still was very good Spring roll unique and tasty Dal soup was very good with amazing spices , so far best one we have tasted in Indian cuisine We tried a German wine Pinot but didn’t quite stand up to California Pinot , however it was nice and reasonably priced for an affordable for an imported wine. Dessert was very tasty and enough to share.

    The two of us arrived with the 5 p.m. diners and were seated quickly. Our table at the window afforded a view of the water and a fine sunset. The service for the entire length of our meal was outstanding - everything from making sure we had enough water to chatting with us about the restaurant. We ordered the following: small plate of Brussel sprouts (with feta yogurt sauce, mint, pomegranate, walnuts) first course of wilted spinach salad (with roasted beets, feta cheese, kalamata olives, red onions, frisee, pita chips, mint, red wine& citrus vinaigrette) two second courses: roasted chanterelle pizza (with confit leeks & cipollini onions, garlic whipped ricotta, fresh mozzarella, asiago, chili flakes) cameroni pasta (with fennel soffritto, roasted fennel, Swiss chard, lemon butter, grana padano, olive breadcrumbs) We thought the Brussel sprouts and wilted spinach salad were absolutely outstanding. I cook Brussel sprouts at home and would give mine a C- compared to their A+. The cameroni was very good. No complaints at all. The pizza disappointed us. It was okay but overall seemed somewhat dry and not super flavorful. We thought that the Hodo tofu brochettes or moussaka might have been a better choice. We would certainly return to Greens; we had a good night of dining there.

    Was more impressed with the starters and small plates than the entrees. The soups (blended cauliflower and lentil dal were excellent as well as the Masala squash. The Seet potato cakes were disappointing and the spring rolls were decidedly middle of the road. The cocktails were wonderful. My girlfriend had the hot scotch with ginger and I had the Armagnac, both delicious. We shared the chocolate flan cake which was unashamedly hedonistic. The service was first rate professional. Our waiter Leon was very attentive. Although the experience was a mixed bag, it was good enough to leave us open for another visit.

    Overall the food and experience was very good. Our main criticism is their uneven lighting in the space. Our center table had way too much lighting and possibly the perimeter tables might have been too dim. The uneven lighting aesthetics might look nice from afar, but after sunset our center table could have been somewhat dimmer.
