This place came highly recommended to us, and we were surprised when it didn't come close to meeting our expectations. The flatware was dirty--actually sticky, when we arrived at the table. The wine glass was also dirty. The food was sub-par--my well done steak was delivered cold. The experience made us feel like 'one of those' customers. So much so, we stopped providing feedback to our server, who, was the highlight of our experience. She was kind, competent and attentive. We couldn't have asked for a better server--I felt bad that she was on the receiving end of our disappointing experience. The ambience was lovely, the setting quiet and intimate.

Dear Dawn, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. While we're very sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations, we genuinely appreciate your honesty. Cleanliness and food quality are top priorities for us, and it's clear we fell short on both. Please accept our sincere apologies. We're incredibly grateful you took the time to recognize your server's warmth and attentiveness—it means a lot to our team, especially during a disappointing experience. Your feedback is being shared directly with our kitchen so we can address the issues and ensure we do better moving forward. We hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity in the future to provide the standard of excellence we’re known for. With appreciation, Ali & The Sedgley Place Team

Very good food and ambience. Servers were over burdened with number of tables they were assigned. Looking forward to going again.

First the good…the place is beautiful, the service was fantastic, the blue cheese dressing was the best I have ever tasted, and the prime rib was decent, but under seasoned. Unfortunately, one of the attractions for me is the vegetable soup that the Sedgley’s of old always had on the menu, and was not an option for the appetizer. The other options were varied. I chose the French Onion soup, which was bland. Underseasoning was also a problem with the prime rib. The vegetables that came with my meal were room temperature to cold (roasted potatoes and asparagus). Finally, the whipped cream in the Raspberry Turnover was barely sweetened, affecting the overall taste of the product. I normally do not submit reviews, and ordinarily this meal would be considered decent by my standards. However, for the money that I spent on my meal, this was not a great dining experience. Will I go back? I don’t know.

Dear Robin, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with such thoughtful detail. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and especially our blue cheese dressing—that's a house favorite we’re proud of. That said, I'm truly sorry that several elements of your meal fell short, from seasoning to temperature and dessert balance. We also appreciate you sharing your memory of the vegetable soup—a classic from our history—and will certainly take that into account as we evolve the menu. We understand your hesitation about returning and truly hope for the opportunity to deliver a more consistent and satisfying experience in the future. Warmly, Ali Desjardin Owner, The Sedgley Place

I have celiac disease and Sedgley place is highly recommended on Find Me Gluten Free so it felt like it would be worth the money for five courses and usually places that are so expensive have good allergy protocol. I also have an egg allergy. It's not easy to eat out, so if I find a place I can I get excited about it. The day I was there they didn't have the gluten free bread/crackers available, and that was course one. I could have the brussel sprouts, course two, pretty basic. The salad was nothing to wow over, pretty basic, course three. For the main meal there was not much on the menu I could have so I chose the prime rib which I'd never had. When it came out, I couldn't cut through it - but not because it was overdone, because it was a bad cut, but I'd never had prime rib, so I didn't know until I got home and showed my dad and he said there was a lot tendon all the way through it which is why I couldn't cut it. Big bummer since I paid over $100 for my meal. This is where it gets nerve-wracking for people with allergies. I'd asked the waitress, who provided excellent service, if I could have any of the desserts and she asked the kitchen and they said I could have the torte. I was amazed since torte is usually packed full of eggs but excited there was a way I could eat this. When it came out, I was nervous, so I asked the waitress to double double check with the chef about the eggs. She went back and checked and this time she said she was sorry but it does have eggs in it and I was right. She said the first time she asked, both the chef and the owner said there were no eggs, then when she went back and asked the baker and of course the baker said there were many eggs in the torte. Overall, I was able to eat two out of five courses (brussel sprouts and salad) for over $100. Major bummer.

Dear Olivia, Thank you for your detailed feedback. I’m truly sorry we fell short—especially on allergy communication and value. You were right to double-check, and the dessert misstep has been addressed with our team. As for the prime rib, we house-butcher and season each cut with care, so I regret that yours didn’t reflect our usual standard. We take pride in that dish, and I understand how disappointing it was. I’d love to invite you back for a more enjoyable and thoughtful experience—on us. Warmly, Ali Desjardin Owner, The Sedgley Place

For a special occasion, Sedgley Place can't be beat. The five-course meal is great, but I don't always want five courses. A lot of times, all I want is an entree. It would be nice to have the choice.
