Food was good, though one of the tasting menu dishes was nothing better than I could do at home. The atmosphere was disappointing, though. We were seated at this fancy restaurants next to 2 other tables where diners were in jeans and a t-shirt. And I was wearing dress clothes! Plus the staff bumped me several times while passing by - terrible table location which truly lessened the experience.

The food was not very good. Some dishes were tasteless and my veal was dry and tough. A couple of dishes were good but definitely not worth the money. Go to Gravitas instead!

The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, the wait staff was friendly though not as attentive as I would’ve liked. My coffee was forgotten; when I asked questions about wine, no effort was made to get me a sommelier. My bill was incorrect. There is a great bartender, though, while I was waiting for my table—friendly and attentive. The food itself did not live up to my expectation. Oysters and caviar were very bland—they lacked acid and salt. The lobster pappardelle was flavorful, but undersauced. The pasta stuck together in a big clump. Overall, it was an acceptable restaurant, but I was surprised that it wasn’t up to its Michelin star.

The food was very bland and disappointing. The service wasn't very welcoming or personal. The atmosphere felt old and stuffy. Worst of all, even though the restaurant was half empty, they gave us a table that was separated from the hotel lobby/front door only by a gate, and the cold air and cigarette smoke blew in towards us every time the door was opened to let hotel guests in. We asked to change to a different table and while they accommodated us, the service didn't feel warm or friendly at all. We just couldn't wait to get out of there. I can't believe this place has a Michelin star.

I found the overall experience to be quite underwhelming and was surprised that this restaurant has a Michelin star. The tasting menu was simply poorly designed and the courses didn’t have the quality that I expected. the ingredients seemed disjointed and not playing together. Both meats were served dry and overcooked. The fish was cold (it didn’t help food was waiting by our side to be served for 2-3 minutes). The service was simply not as qualified as I expected, with the exception of the sommelier. Our server had memorized the courses and didn’t seem knowledgeable about them, and in a couple of occasions, served plates to the wrong person. Overall disappointing and definitely not worth paying the amount it cost for it. Won’t be back

My wife and I eaten here several times over the years when visiting D.C. Tonight’s occasion was no different yet the result was disappointing. Food was very good but more expensive than previous encounters. Service was the downgrade. From the moment we arrived to our departure we felt like we were simply cogs in the wheel. When do you have to request more water at a Michelin Star restaurant...get the point? The table assigned to us should not be in play. My view was the kitchen entrance door and the wine sommelier attending to bottles. We have eaten at many fine restaurants and have noticed a concerning trend. If the restaurant is fighting for relevance the product reflects energy and a desire to push the envelope and achieve sustained greatness. Ah, but once achieved will the desire for greatness be sustained. Unfortunately in most cases the path to victory is the focus and the stair step to the next level is conveniently avoided. The Plume fits this category. Perhaps we had an off night, but for us, we will strive to discover an up an comer.

Service, presentation, and atmosphere were all lovely. Food was fine. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t particularly good, either - certainly not for the price. I found a number of the dishes were largely flavorless, with the exception of a lot of salt. Our table opted for the tasting menu, and I was really disappointed in the food.

Perfect ambiance for a romantic valentines dinner. The pace of the meal was wonderful, not rushed at all. A few dishes blew me away & the others were predictable yet well cooked. I dont know if I’d come back again but it was definitely what I was looking for given the occasion.

Having made reservations a month in advance for this Michelin-rated, romantic restaurant for Valentine's Day, we unfortunately left there wondering why we did not just go to McDonald's. At least the bill for fast food at McD's and their service would not have been in excess of $700 (including tip). When Plume called to confirm our reservation, no one warned us that it was a prix-fix meal with a limited menu. The only choice we had was for one course, either fish or beef, everything else was pre-determined at over $125/person, not including wine. Our displeasure started as soon as we walked in, before we even got settled in & our waiter immediately wanted to know what kind of water we wanted. Our glasses were poured in about 90 seconds, and then we felt pressured and rushed to make a wine and menu choice. They refused to open a special bottle we'd bought for that evening anticipating they'd charge us a steep corkage fee, but that is not an option there-- the sommelier told us it is a "union issue" even though we've been to other Michelin-rated restaurants and never encountered that before. When the food came out, it was luke warm and under-whelming, and the pacing was completely off- we had barely put down our utensils, when the next plate was already arriving. The sea bass was inedible, and the entire time we just felt that they wanted to turn the table over (even though it was not full, and we were not eating at prime time). To go thru a 7 course meal in 1 hr and 15 min says it all, and 48 hours later we still are not over the immense disappointment and profound feeling of being ripped off.

You can't beat the Jefferson and Plume for a lovely traditional ambiance. Our anniversary was met with an invitation to a wonderfully private booth, but open enough to enjoy the restaurant's activity. Fantastic wine list. Very helpful sommelier--she offered a cab blend that was excellent with the venison, which was perfect--two chops, thick cut but cooked evenly and just to the right temp. We passed on desert but enjoyed one of their nice ports from their selection. The waiter, Christian, was fantastic and enjoyed chatting with my wife in French and discussing champagne houses in the Old Country. Although local (Alexandria) we've never eaten at Plume--but we will be back!!

I had dinner on Saturday evening. The food was excellent and service was good. The restaurant is located in the hotel lobby, so the ambience was okay, but not as great as I expected. It was pretty crowded and had to have a conversation. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not the one. Overall, it was good and I would go back.

The evening was perfect. I felt, however, that with a new menu, the restaurant was trying to cut costs somewhat by eliminating the amuse previously offered & eliminated the truffles offered with the dessert course. This is not a significant defect just a observation of some changes.

We took our son for his birthday! It’s our tradition to celebrate in an amazing restaurant and this was certainly amazing. The space is terrific. We were in a room that was a nook that only had two tables which were on opposite sides with room enough between that it felt like totally private dining. The staff as one would expect were skilled to top notch and the food delightful and adventurous.

We went for New Year’s Eve. Very pricy meal even compared to regular dining at Plume, but ok. It’s New Years. The food was very good but not really exciting. Sadly the meal was almost ruined by service issues. It wasn’t so much the servers fault. They were busy. The restaurant was GREATLY understaffed. And poorly coordinated. Our drinks arrived in three separate trips, and one had to be asked for 3 times. The amuse bouche showed up before the drinks. Then, just as drinks are received, out comes the first course. We had asked to be served after we’d finished our cocktails. We sent it back of course. After that the pace of the meal improved. But, all undone at the end when it took 45 minutes from when our last plate was removed from the table for us to get them to present a bill, long wait, and then process our cards, another long wait. Again, I blame the management for accepting reservations on New Years Eve without nearly having the staff they needed.

I was looking forward to spending an evening with hubby at Plume. I must say of all the amazing restaurants in DC - this one did not measure up. The food was not remarkable- not one course stood on its own or was creative. The food was good and service was fine but nothing like pineapple and pearls, mini bar or L’Auberge. Just ok for for.

If you are a value conscience diner, this is not your place to dine. It is exorbitantly expressive. That stated, the quality of service, food, wine selection and ambiance is first rate. Which of course, it should be. I don't understand the poor ratings - I expect part of the reason is they are looking at the expense and what you are getting for it. Nevertheless, our experience was exceptional. The squab and duck liver plate was one of the best plates I have ever had, without reservation. The dining experience is first rate, but if you aren't prepared to pay ridiculous prices, go to another restaurant

The food was good and service was fluid, maybe even a little rushed to get in 2 seatings that night at the table. Not much personality was afforded to the staff in serving, the tone was somewhat rigid and regimented. Not sure I would call it out as a Michelin but it was a pleasent dinner. Thank you.

My sister and I had a post-Christmas dinner at Plume, but neither of us can understand how it qualified for the Michelin list. The service is fair - our server was a bit robotic, but whatever - and the food is not exceptional. The lobster pasta that was my second course basically had no salt and no flavor. The timing of the courses was a bit odd and the $28 glasses of champagne we ordered to begin our meal were served nearly at room temperature with the first course instead of at the beginning of the meal. Compared to other Michelin dining experiences in DC, Plume was a disappointment. Breakfast and lunch at the Jefferson are fine, but I won’t be back for dinner.

This is a Michelin One Star restaurant and I expected a corresponding experience for my Christmas dinner choice. The food was down right bad. My husband’s Yellow tail appetizer was extremely salty and both of our main courses were overcooked (duck and steak). The service was excellent but the value was awful. Over $600 for three people for not even a decent meal is atrocious. I would not recommend.

Far too expensive--$795 with tax, tip and wine (wine was about $75 more that the amount stated on the menu) for 3 people based upon a fixed-price menu. The food was good, but not spectacular. Service was okay, but not spectacular. The website says that they have free valet parking for Plume diners, but they charged $20, and when questioned about it, they said that they made exceptions for the holidays--a little strange to me.

David, the Hotel Manager, came over to our table for a brief chat which we enjoyed, immensely. I highly recommend the Jefferson Hotel and give it 5 stars in all aspects.
