The menu is very different! With too many options to choose from. We ordered a variety and did a family style which was great.

Although the service was pleasant it took way too long to get the appetizers and main courses to the table. The duck came out well done despite it being medium rare. There were only two pieces of duck breast which was a little stingy.

Another Fabulous Meal!! We've eaten here before and love this place so it was the perfect choice for my fiancee's birthday. You must or appetizer the truffled chick peas , you cannot stop eating them they're so good! The kale salad is so tasty with its deliciously delightful citrus vinaigrette. We shared the pork chop and the duck lasagna appetizer with a side of brussel sprouts for our entrees. This is the 2nd time I've ordered the duck lasagna and it was as delicious as the first time I had it! This place is a gem..we will be back.

Had one of my worst restaurant experience ever last weekend. It took us a half hour to get the server to take our order (and there were empty tables). We asked for bread and got none. We asked again when we found the server and she said they "were working on it". Eventually we received a basket with 4 tiny cold, tasteless slices of bread. But we did better than the table next to us who were told they were now out of bread---before 7pm! We asked when we get our appetizers and a server (not our original server who was nowhere to be found)said she would look into it but she never returned with a response. Eventually, we felt after waiting almost 90 minutes since we had ordered that we had to leave since we had tickets for a performance that evening. We paid for our wine (which we perhaps should not have inder the circumstances) and grabbed and wolfed down gyro's at the semi-fast food Greek place up the street. Miserable experience at Twisted Oak!

Twisted Oak was neither great nor bad; it was meh. We had an 815pm reservation and weren't seated for 45 minutes, except for being offered two bar type tables 30 mins into waiting. We also felt rushed at the end becuase everyone else was gone except us, even though we were seated late. The food was okay - the meatballs were good, the burrata was tasty but really small. For entrees two of us ordered shrot rib which was delicious, but two of us ordered the duck that was recommended and it was bland, dry, and underseasoned. The duck, not only being pricy, was disappointing, and the portions were not equivalent- my duck dish was well portioned, where my friend got two pieces half the size of the two I got. We also ordered brussel sprouts to share and they were good for the most part, but a few were super flash cooked and semi-raw in the center (and no- not just blanched- I know what blanched brussels are supposed to taste like).

We had dinner at the Twisted Oak at 6:00 on a Saturday night. The decor is fine, and the servers were really nice, extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, and even the dishes and bowls were unique and special. Unfortunately, because of the noise level, we can't go back there. There is no noise reduction on any surface, and by 6:30, it was so loud that, in addition to shouting to be heard as we talked at the table, the servers several times asked me to repeat myself because they couldn't hear me. At some point shortly after that, someone in the restaurant turned on music, which, of course, forced everyone to speak louder to be heard over the music. Everything was great, but if being able to hear your dining companions speaking and not coming home hoarse from shouting are priorities, this is sadly not the place for you.

I chose The Twisted Oak because it is near the Music Hall and I planned to attend a performance. It got good ratings, so I thought we would try it. The food was unusual, but tasty, and the service was attentive (although slow). It is rather pricey, but that is what one would expect if there is only one seating for the evening and the waiter pays a lot of attention to each table. I did have to send my soup back because it was initially not hot, but that was fixed promptly. The dessert, which was lemon meringue pie, was certainly creative. It came in little dollops of lemon and little dollops of meringue, with small pieces of pie crust here and there. Not what I was expecting, but satisfying. Overall, it was a good experience, but best for a special night out given the prices.

Unfortunately service was terrible. It took 45 mins just to get a drink. The four of us in our party didn’t even eat at the same time. And our side dishes never materialized. It’s a shame as the food itself was delicious but service was all over the place and they never acknowledged it with us at all.

We he'd a nice evening and enjoyed our meal. The food was good but not great - not very imaginative. The service was very good. Wait staff was attentive and informative but not interrupting. It was a Wednesday night, so it wasn't busy. It probably shouldn't matter that much but the decor was so drab it was a distraction.

I’ve been to the Twisted Oak many times and the food is always outstanding. I was disappointed with the uncharacteristically slow service this time but everything else was excellent. The chef did send out a couple of complementary appetizers to tide us over until our meals came and they were also delicious. I will definitely be back, just wish the service was a little faster this time.

The place was lovely warm and inviting and the food was really good. However the service was terrible. The place was not crowded and it took over 15 minutes to get 4 drinks, 2 of which were beers. We saw them sitting on the bar for over 5 minutes and when I asked the waiter if our drinks were ready he said yes and took another 3-4 minutes to bring them over bc he decided to bus a table and give them dessert menus. Then he spilled a good portion of my martini before he brought it to me. The carbonara and Brussel sprouts we ordered were amazing but there is a $10 up charge to make a pasta a dinner portion. So $34 for a plate of pasta that is not large seems outrageous to me. also the waiter seemed annoyed that we just wanted a bunch of things to pick at and sample. Overall he was just rude and couldnt be bothered.

Drinks and food were delicious. Hostess was very slow getting to greet us. We were without our secound round of drinks for a good 15 minutes, while the hostess ans bartender were chatting. Just a little awkward. But our first visit everything was AMAZING! Service, drinks, food... all brilliant. So maybe we can toss this up for being Valentine’s Day?

Unfortunately The Twisted Oak is an experience I would rather forget. At first it seemed like it was going to be a nice Valentine’s night with a funny waiter who knew about our dietary restrictions from when we made our reservation, but this quickly changed after we tried to place our order. After we ordered we were quickly forgotten and didn’t see our waiter again until it was time to order dessert. When it finally came time to pay for our bill we were miss charged by $100 and it took almost 20 minutes to fix it.

This was for valentine's day. The food was amazing, definitely get the truffled chickpeas and the duck lasagna, the brussel sprouts and the bbq carrots. The duck entree was slightly underdone-it's skin not as crispy as I would like but the farro underneath it left me wanting to lick the plate. The service was pleasant but extremely slow. It felt like there was something going on like a missing waiter or something. We would have had a second glass of wine if the waiter had come back at any point during the main course and it was 10 minutes after dropping off desert menus before someone came back so we skipped desert. It seemed like they were having an off night. That being said, there were so many appealing things on the menu, we just have to go back and give them another try.

Things to improve: sloppy, slow service from hostess to waiter, store bought, somewhat stale bread, dingy, depressing atmosphere. How much effort would it have taken to do something special for Valentine's Day? Food was very good, but unfortunately the experience was not a good one due to above.

The service was the worst. We arrived at 7.30 for an 8pm reservation and went to have a drink at the bar. It took 30 minutes for the bartended to even come and take our order. Then at 8.25 we were told our table wasn't ready (25 minutes past the reservation time) and it would be at least an hour. They suggested our party of 6 could squeeze at a couple of tiny hightop bar tables but that wasn't going to work. It took them another 20 minutes to put 2 tables together and seat us in the dining room - so now almost an hour past our reservation time. We ordered some snacks and then waited a while before we could order appetizer/salads and entrees. I ordered a frisee salad that was supposed to come with a poached egg which was not on there. I mentioned it to the waiter and he told me the salad was correct as delivered. I had to lift the lettuce out of the bowl to show him there was no poached egg there. He took it away and came back with one covered in water and not runny. We waited a long time for our entrees to come - about an hour - and they were only luke warm when served. When we asked the staff if there was a problem, are they short staffed, what the issue is they claimed there was no issue, they were not short staff and acted as if it was all normal. We have been to The Twisted Oak several times and know this dismal service was not normal. However it was embarrassing that we had selected this restaurant as a bit more special to celebrate a special friend's birthday. We expected that at least the staff would make it right on the bill or for a future visit but this was not the case and again they acted as if there was nothing wrong.

We generally love this restaurant but service was horrendous on this visit. We waited over 1.5 hours for our entree's and we never got honest information about what was going on. Clearly the kitchen was having major problems as several other tables were also waiting unusually long. I suspect the chef walked out, or threw some kind of tantrum in the kitchen. After giving us some cheap complimentary greens, i made a comment to the waiter that the gesture was underwhelming and they eventually did the right thing by comping us a very good pasta appetizer and a round of wine. Our waiter did the best he could, but was seemingly getting directions from higher up not to tell us what was going on. I think it's very foolish of them not to give us the straight scoop as it makes me hesitate to go back again. We have been there several times and considered it one of our favorites in westchester up till now.

Easily the worst fine dining experience of my life last night. We arrived at 7pm last night, and the place is dead. Maybe 15 other patrons, and we were a 7-top out for a special family dinner since my mother was in town. Despite being a daily farm-to-table restaurant, they were out of several items that we wanted, swordfish & clams (7pm, dead restaurant -- they surely didn't "run out") Anyway, we worked around it. Our appetizers came out after 45 minutes, & several of the pastas were cold. We were still waiting on entrees for another 45 minutes, and at this point I asked my server to speak with whoever was managing the floor. After making me wait at the maitre d's station for ~10 minutes, the chef himself comes out of the kitchen. He informed me he was running the front and back of the house. Surprised at this, I explained to him how long things were taking since we were now nearing 2 hours without entrees, and his response was: "What do you want me to do about it?" Stunned, I actually said "Well, I think you should apologize and get our food out. And I'd make it right if I were you, comping something ..." He interrupted me and said, "Just leave. You should just leave." Walks back to kitchen. When I got back to the table, my wife informed me that while I was waiting for him during that 10 minutes at the maitre d' station, he was heard shouting at his kitchen staff "WHAT THE F' ARE THEY COMPLAINING ABOUT?" repeatedly. We actually just got up and walked out as he instructed. I am still stunned by this whole encounter. The Twisted Oak feels like a once-solid restaurant that has past its time. Empty restaurant. Poorly sourced menus. No one working the front of the house. Chef going full Gordon Ramsey & shouting at staff. Arguing with customers. What a bizarre shame.

The best thing was the flavors of the food, and I believe that this is why they often get very good reviews. It is clear that the chef is creative and knows what good flavors is, however, the execution needs a lot of work. What seems to be missing is a good “captain” in the kitchen. Two of our three entrees came out raw—Salmon and Duck, whereas the other identical salmon entree came perfectly cooked medium-medium rare. When we sent back the raw entrees they were not replayed for presentation when they were returned to us. In fact, one appeared to be just throw onto a different plate with some of the original ingredients missing, so it had to be sent back again. Very unprofessional! It was clear that no one was taking personal responsibility in the kitchen for execution of the plates. Then, the final straw was that you were not allowed to order anything until the entire party had arrived. Even ordering a simple snack for the table was forbidden. And because one member of our party was delayed we’re were forced to just sit there hungry until everyone was present. The excuse was given that these were the rules of the kitchen and it was busy. We eat out weekly at a variety of restaurants from fine dining to super casual, and I’ve never experienced anything like that. Again, the kitchen seems to have a lot of problems with serving the clients well and without a good kitchen, you don’t have a good restaurant. I doubt we will return since there are so many alternatives to choose from.

I would say that this is a must visit restaurant if you find yourself in the Westchester area, it is by far one of the nicest that I have vistited. I was in Tarrytown on a business trip and stumbled across this gem, the atmosphere is elegant but inviting, the food was outstanding, and the service was excellent. My only wish is that I have another chance to get back and try more of the menu!

Came here with another couple on Saturday night at 7:00. We were promptly seated. The place is small and the acoustics are not great so the rather large table next to us created a difficult environment to talk. There are not many things on the menu but were told that 1 of the 5 appetizers was not available as well as 1 of the 5 entrees. I'm sure we were the first seating of the night so that was upsetting. Our appetizers were brought out and one order was forgotten. We had to wait until that was made up before we began eating. (the hot appetizers were now cold) It took almost an hour between the appetizer and main course to come out of the kitchen. No acknowledgement or apology offered. Not a particularly enjoyable evening all in all.

Service was so incredibly slow. Salmon was encrusted in salt, it would have been good but was inedible because of it. The pork was done nicely.

The service was great. The food tasted good but very small portions for the price. Not a good value. The appetizers came out in reasonable time but entrees took a long time.

This used to be a favorite but the last 2 experiences have been extremely disappointing. Service took hours and the food was below mediocre. After waiting an hour for appetizers which were great, we should have stopped there. The duck was such poor quality I ate less than half, brussel sprouts were so salty they were inedible. So sad to have to cross this place off.

Twisted Oak is my favorite Tarrytown restaurant. It is expensive but every dish is great. They use local ingredients and very innovative cooking. I have been here several times and look forward to returning yet again.

The food was less than average. One of the salads was poorly washed and "sandy". The lentil soup was "nothing to write home about". Portions are small. The place is overpriced. We've been going to The Twisted Oak for many years. We went recently there with our friends. The hostess asked for our reservation without saying Good Evening and refused to give us a table in a quiet room. The waiter was polite, but spoke with a such heavy accent that we could barely understand what he was saying.

Our waitress Casandra was a delight. She offered up suggestions that were spot on. Hats off to the chef for thinking out of the box. Not your typical menu & loads of fun.

It was a great experience! They were helpful in getting us out before our show. The food was fresh, and tasty. We will be back!
