I was disappointed that only the brunch menu was available at 2 PM on a Sunday. While it was a good value, I was not very interested in the menu items.
Our first time there for a combined birthday/anniversary celebration for 4. Great food and service; in a quaint setting. Will definitely plan on going back!
What a delight it was to eat here. From the location to the service to the food everything was exquisite. Highly recommend this beautiful and historic place.
This is our second time having dinner at Elkridge Furnace Inn.
This second trip found us loving every course and item. My wife had "surf and turf, " a filet with shrimp that she loved, plus, the potato croquette with it was fantastic to me (when I had a small bite).
For me, it started with a black bean soup of the day that included chicken. But the "Copper Penny Farms’ Veal Sausage" entrée that included the sausage and cheese ravioli in a wonderful veal Bolognese sauce was one of the finest pasta and sausage combinations I've ever had!
The sauce alone was worthy of praise.
The house is very nice, and the food was excellent. My husband and I went there for our anniversary and it lived up to the idea of having a special, romantic dinner. You can dress up and go there and it's nice. It was expensive, but the food was good, so it was worth it. They also gave us a complimentary glass of champagne and a small ors'dheuvre. Although this was not the restaurant's fault, there were two couples sitting near us who struck up a conversation among themselves. They were sitting at two different tables and had apparently just met and were talking kind of loud because they weren't at the same table. That was disturbing for us. The rooms are small and only allow for 4 tables. Therefore being in the same room as the two couples talking across the tables was not so great. Again, not the restaurant's fault. But if the rooms were a little larger and allowed for a few more tables, I think it would have felt more festive to me and less isolated.
The ambiance was very pleasant, with a fire burning (looked real/turns out to be gas). It was not easy at first to have a private business conversation, until a table for 8 came in. Prior to that, we could hear every word said at neighboring tables. Perhaps some soft classical or jazz music would help that? Service was effusive. Food was good and presented well. I would have like perhaps one or two less expensive lunch options, but all in all, a lovely experience.
Had an amazing anniversary dinner at the EFI. Everything about our meal was delicious and well made. The service was impeccable, and the staff are very nice.
We had a wonderful dinner on a Friday evening at The Elkridge Furnace Inn. The service was outstanding. The restaurant itself is a renovated house. The room we were seated in had a lovely fireplace and a beautiful ceiling. The food was superb and very classy. The chef came out to visit each table and ensure guests were enjoying their meals. This was our first time at this location and it will not be our last.
Waiter was not up to the standards expected for this restaurant. Not very attentive and very little follow up.
Food was not up to par for a restaurant this expensive. Presentation was poor. Steak arrived dried out and sauce had a film over it indicative of having sat someplace before being served.
We went for dinner at 5:00 pm on a Sunday. We were seated in the room off to the right and were the first ones there. We were close to the fireplace which made it extra cozy. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Great gluten-free options, including gluten-free rolls to start.
Great service, ambiance, food, and the staff was so helpful and kind. We'll be back for sure!
One of the better restaurants in the Baltimore area. Beautiful setting and dining areas and a GREAT WINE LIST.
We will be there often, as we have been
Our first visit to the Furnace Inn special night for my moms 95 birthday drinks were great food was as fantastic cannot wit to go back again
A delicious lunch in a beautiful setting with excellent service.
The Elkridge Furnace Inn never disappoints. The cuisine is inspired and not in a rive-gauche-we're-trying-so-hard-to-win-that-Michelin-star-way (though I'm guessing they could...), just well-conceived and executed with ingredients from their own farm in many cases. The ambiance is inherent in the old farmhouse and grounds, which is to say the locale is a little more on the fine-dining side, though there are regularly folks wearing jeans and t-shirts at dinner...so take that for what it's worth. The wine list is one of the few where you can find a hearty selection of French -both reds and whites and in some cases in appellations (Alsace, for example) that you won't be able to get elsewhere in a 20-mile radius. A gem of a spot for sure...
The food and the service were exquisite. Well worth the visit!
The food was good and the kindly chef came out to greet us. Sadly the great cuisine was marred by the most cold, unfriendly and downright rude waiter I have ever had the misfortune of being served by. This gentlemen should resign and retire if he hates his job that much. I can't recommend returning so long as this establishment retains wait staff who, despite being clearly old enough to know better, deliberately marred a special dinner between two married couples who hadn't seen each other in years with his disdainful attitude.
I always go to Elkridge Furnace Inn during the week of my birthday or on my birthday. You get champagne and a free dessert of your choice. My favorites are their steaks and their crab cakes. I love the service which is very personal. This one of my favorite restaurants for brunch and for dinner. If you go for brunch, please try the seafood omelet. It is delicious.
As always the Elkridge Furnance Inn delivers a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. There was a wedding when we attended and the service was still fantastic.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening great service great food and very friendly staff
This is one of those farm to table restraints not to be missed. It is located close to BWI airport.
We had a lovely evening and a delicious meal at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. When I made the reservation on OpenTable, I noted that it was for our anniversary. When we arrived, the host welcomed us and wished us a happy anniversary and offered us complimentary champagne to celebrate. Our server's assistant and server were terrific and very attentive. Since it was our first time dining at the restaurant, our server gave us a history of the restaurant and the chef's philosophy. We loved hearing about the farm-to-table practices and definitely will be back in the daytime to visit the greenhouses. The menu is updated quarterly with the changing seasons, and we had delicious appetizers entrees and desserts. The chef even came up to wish us happy anniversary, and the message was also written on each of our dessert plates. Super service and really delicious food.
Outstanding food, service and ambiance! Romantic colonial home redone into a cozy restauraunt, knowledgable, service oriented staff, extensive wine list, full service bar, and dangerously good food!
Three of us went for my Birthday dinner. I was greeted with a Happy Birthday by the hostess and my waiter. Given champagne for a toast. Food was fabulous. Appetizers and entries were eclectic and delicious. Deserts were out of this world. OMG GO
The lamb was the beat I have ever had in my entire life, as was the tart for
I am so glad I happened upon this place in my search for a Sunday brunch. The food was excellent-truly. Most items are made on the premises and it is a "yard to table" and "Farm to table" restaurant. Everything we had was wonderful-nothing was "standard". The pastry chef is onsite; the brunch starts with a pastry basket and everything in it was delicious, melt-in your mouth, warm. I got the fruit salad which I expected to be-well, just a fruit salad. But even it was special with a lavender cream, fresh berries. My husband had the foie gras which he said was among the best he's tasted. For entrees, the party chose the chicken and waffles (I tried the corn waffle and it was a delicate cornbread flavor), two of us had the lobster quiche, and one had the fried oyster benedict--everything was flavorful and well-prepared with delicious sides. I actually asked for the passionfruit brulee to go (which in hindsight is not really a "to go" item but luckily they were willing to accommodate the request because I was too stuffed to eat it there. It was amazing. It was my husband's birthday and they served the adults a glass of champagne and the young adults a sparkling cider at the beginning of the meal which was unexpected but very nice touch. My husband very much enjoyed his spicy bloody mary, my cappuccino was very tasty as well. The service was also outstanding--well paced and the waiter was very well versed in the menu and provided good tips and descriptions of the menu items. Water was kept full and beverages refilled. The setting is a beautiful historical house on very nice grounds.
Highly recommend it! We will definitely be going back.
Absolutely delicious Sunday brunch. Will be back soon for dinner.
Always a good meal at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. Service is excellent. Food is fresh and creative.
Wonderful service and great food in a historic building - a consistently great experience.
Outstanding food and service. We had the steak and the trout, both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. We also had the fig appetizer and it was the perfect pairing of flavors. Ahh yes, and our awesome server, Brian, brought out an amuse-bouche from the chef, this lovely little date treat, ever so small with a tiny dollop of love on top, tasting of nutmeg. We paired our dishes with a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and both were recommended via the menu and complemented well.
Highly recommend for a special occasion/date. It’s incredibly romantic, food is to die for, and the service matches beautifully.
Thanks for a wonderful evening.
My wife and I went to EFI for our anniversary dinner. We loved the food, we loved the location and everything was great from start to finish!
Treat yourself to this amazing place. The food, service, and atmosphere are unparalleled!
First time I ate there was wonderful, second time was not that good. Not sure if I'll try again.
Such a great find off the beaten path. I rarely write reviews, but thought this place was worthy. I loved the historical charm and the fresh produce grown across the way! It brings back the charm of our history!
My husband and I went out of our way to dine again at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. The food is exceptional and the staff is terrific. Both times we have dined, here we have been greeted warmly and not rushed at all. I highly recommend the Elkridge Furnace Inn for the wonderful food, lovely surroundings and excellent customer service.
Lovely Brunch . Wonderful old home that was renovated. Intimate dining and lovely menu with lots of good options. Great service
Without a doubt my finest restarant experience in this area in decades.
Our party of three were treated to a pleasant low-key acknowledgement of a birthday.
The setting was delightful, and the service was perfect—not intrusive but appropriately attentive. One special dietary request was readily accommodated. Excellent selection of wines, and many excellent menu options. Our meals were outstanding in quality, diversity, and presentation. The one minor flaw—the sauce ordered to accompany the fillet did not appear at first—was quickly remedied.
Finally, our three dessert selections were each outstanding.
Best gluten free food in the area.
