Restaurant Eve has one intention: to bring everything together in perfect harmony - ingredients, cooking techniques, presentation, and that ephemeral, indescribable characteristic that we call soulfulness. Herbs and fruits are gathered from our own garden and everything on our menu has a story, every ingredient is special. We purchase from farms that share our values of quality and sustainability, and showcase the best hand-fed, farm-raised, organically grown bounty Virginia and the surrounding countryside have to offer.

Restaurant Eve was a wonderful experience. Like many people on the same night we came to celebrate a special occasion. This time, it was my wife's 28th birthday. The evening from beginning to end was exactly what I wanted it to be for her. Customer service is exceptional here and it shows. If you want a risk free night this place is a great option. You will have no fear that you will be treated well and served tasty and exciting dishes. My encounter with the restaurant started over the phone for reservations. You truly only have one time to make a first impression and I remember the phone call going very well. Located just off King Street but delightfully secluded the atmosphere is lavish but also relaxed. There are multiple ways you can venture on your dining quest here. We chose a la carte however, multiple course tasting menus and Asian family style were also available. An Irish chef serving Asian family style was hard to resist but I'll save that occasion for next time. The bar is hard to beat. I will definitely be back just to partake in those festivities in the near future. Bartender/sommelier Todd Thrasher (who also works with the acclaimed PX lounge) has his handiwork in the mixed drinks. You would be remised if you did not take advantage and order at least a few of his creations. There is not much and everything I could say about the food. Honestly by the time this is read the menu will be different. This is a great problem to have! All items are local farm to table. This description here has more truth and less buzzwordiness compared to other establishments I have visited. Do take the waiters recommendations. You have had chicken or beef many times before and there is no better place to experience something new. With such a talented chef I felt I could have closed my eyes, thrown a dart at the menu and been happy with what was brought. Restaurant Eve stands out among many in so many areas that it collectively becomes a world class destination. Thank you

Went to celebrate mother's day. We decided to each do the 5 course tasting menu. Each course was unique. Only criticism for the food is that it was very salty. Although they do not have a physical gluten free menu, they were available to accommodate gluten sensitivities very well. The cocktails we ordered were all excellent. Great place for that special occasion.

Another fabulous dining experience at our favorite "go-to" restaurant. The menu is always changing seasonally and there is a true "farm-to-table" effort by the chef, including sourcing from the backyard herb garden. The staff is superb and very friendly. We have a high bar for restaurants and food quality and Eve one of the few that exceeds. Can't wait to return.

Restaurant Eve has an excellent reputation in the D.C. Area as a fine-dining sure-thing, but I had never had the pleasure before last weekend. It was one of the best meals of my life and service was superb, exceptional even for fine dining. From the moment we arrived we felt taken care of. A mouth-watering house bread (which our server said is made at sister property, Society Faire) with dark, crisp crust and moist, chewy interior is offered warm from passing baskets. We ordered the steamed clams and mussels and the beet salad for firsts. The seafood was perfectly cooked (rarely the case with mussels) in a flavorful but light broth, and the beet salad was a fun surprise with a neat row of beets that alternated between smoked and pickled preparations. Each bite was a little bit different, and a fine, slightly salty streusel tied them together. For mains my date had the seared rockfish fillet with trumpet mushrooms and was raving about it. I had the steak fritte, and I can't say enough about it. I was hesitant because I hadn't had good experiences with grass-fed cuts in the past, but the server assured me this would be moist and flavorful. It was the best beef flavor I've had in a very long time, and it seemed to be prepared with a shallot/ red wine reduction on top (just enough, not swimming in it) that had the barest hint of rosemary. The portion was very generous; I could only eat half of it. It came with some of the best fries I've ever had - crispy on the outside and creamy potato flavor on the inside, served with a perfectly dreamy, well seasoned aioli. Now, desserts are a must-do. The pastry chef, Josh Jarvis, has a refreshing menu filled with house made cheeses and preserved fruit from the kitchen garden. We had all six desserts, because we couldn't decide. Sizes are appropriately small after a couple of other courses, so make sure to order one per person, then share. Currently, the rhubarb tart and strawberry shortcake capture Spring. 4 stars!!!

Might have been an off day, but our food was not prepared well. Had the rigatoni. Broth was great, but rigatoni and squid were both over and under cooked somehow... Drinks were good, but everything was way too expensive for what it was.

My husband booked this reservation for me to take my daughter-in-law to lunch (she is a young Mom of 3 doing a wonderful job at that; her husband out-of-town frequently for his job) and wanted to make her feel very special, for no reason other than she is SHE. Goal achieved. Lunch in the back section (sun peeping in from the skylights) was relaxing and elegant - just what the two of us ladies wanted! Started with a signature cocktail...YUM. Lunch menu light and wonderful. Dessert menu topped it all off nicely. Great time shared, great food, great service. The staff was attentive, professional, and not intrusive - but there when they needed to be. Thank you!

RE has been a favorite dining spot for years, but this last visit was so disappointing, I may not return. The $38.00 (!!!) soft shell crab entree serving size was impossibly small, consisting of two crabs so tiny, I'm surprised they were legal. I ate each crab in three bites. The bodies were no more than 2.5" wide. I've used these "peeler" size crabs as BAIT! Even with an appetizer (shared), I left dinner quite hungry. I feel like I was ripped off. A $38 entree should have come with 4 crabs of that size. I looked at other diners' entrees and saw that their serving sizes were pretty chintzy, too. Is there new staff in the kitchen? New serving size policy? Mind you, all of the food was delicious and the service nearly impeccable.

Very disappointed in our experience. After talking Restaurant Eve up to my husband, having been years ago, I was surprised at how underwhelming the overall dining experience was. Service was poor and the servers didn't seem to know much about the food or wine they were serving. Several meat courses from the tasting came out completely rare and had to be sent back. One beef dish was so rare it was cold in the middle! We observed three surrounding tables also complain to the servers and send food back. The ambiance was not on par with what you'd expect, particularly as it was quite expensive. Will not be back and would not recommend.

This was a birthday party of four, with one person with a nut allergy. Waitstaff double checked on all our orders for nuts, and the meal was a memorable one. This was our fourth or fifth time here in a decade, and the quality and varied menu have always been superb. The fois gras appetizer was delicious, as were the sweetbreads, fish and lamb. Very nice cheese offering and desserts were also a standout. Wines by the glass are reasonably priced if you decide not to go the bottle route--bottles are in the pricy range, most above $65.

Interesting food and presentation. Excellent service. The room we dined in was a wooden, down run, add on to the old building and felt like a dinner . The lack of ambiance was disappointing and reduced the dining experience. The restaurant is very expensive and but the overall experience is not worthy the value.

Good place for a special occasion meal. Very big inside, much bigger than I was anticipating but divided up into small rooms so it can still provide an intimate atmosphere. All the food was delicious. We didn't go with the tasting menu, just ordered a la carte. House cocktails were also delicious. Close attention from the waitstaff, and special treats for the birthday. No singing or other annoying things, just a small tasteful dessert and gift to bring home.

Eve is a gem. And I am surprised I don't hear more accolades - assume that because it has been around for so many years, people take it for granted. Don't! The menu is ever-changing and it presents great value for the money - a five-course tasting menu for just over $100. Not inexpensive, but worth it given the consistent quality of Chef Armstrong's cuisine. Great.

Bring a Wednesday evening it was also quiet and nice for us to visit and catch up. We had shepherds pie steak and salmon. All were excellent as always. And don't forget desert. A friend took me to Eve for a birthday lunch. At 12:30 it was sparsely populated. Our server, as is usual at this restaurant, over explained the menu, treating 2 well-dressed 60ish women as though we were dining for the first time. Sigh. My friend's salmon terrine with pickled ramps was fine. My Croque Madame had the requisite poached egg, Mornay sauce, and ham. But they were overwhelmed by an abundance of bread.

We have lived in Alexandria for three years were so looking forward to our first visit to this restaurant for a big occasion. The tasting menu and wine pairings were good but not exceptional. The ambiance was ordinary, with many diners in jeans and golf shirts and a bickering couple within feet of our table. Worst was the completely confused service. Two different waiters announced themselves as our servers, and it went downhill from there. We were not even able to get a drink until 45 minutes after arrival. Overall, a disappointing experience at a restaurant we will not frequent again.

I've lived in the DC area a long time and this was admittedly my first visit at Restaurant Eve. It did not disappoint! I went with a friend in celebration of Restaurant Week. I was very pleased with their special menu for the event. I started off with the Cashel Bavarois with Frisée, Empire Apple and Bacon Vinaigrette. It was perfect! My main course was Roasted Filet of Hake with Sweet Potato Velouté, Caramelized Onion and Virginia Pecans. This was the best rendition of Hake that I have eaten in the last year! For dessert I had Warm Sweet Potato Clafoutis with Brown Butter - Brandy Ice Cream and Toasted Pecans. Yes, I realize I had sweet potatoes twice in the same meal, but I love them and the dessert was delightful! With my salad and main course, I drank the lovely PINK by the glass mixture of Cinture and Syrah. It was a pleasant combination with my dinner. Go to Restaurant Eve for a meal; it's splendid.
