Buddakan - Philadelphia
I was there for my birthday and the waiter was phenomenal! He was very attentive to me and my guest!
Seated at a deuce two tables from the kitchen serving area which was my view. Significant flow of server traffic was distracting and disappointing. Noise level from the kitchen combined with the venue and server foot traffic was unacceptable. Impeccable service and excellent fare was a saving grace. Your establishment was highly recommended by a frequent customer for a special occasion which it was.
Pork belly in steamed buns was entirely pork fat. Duck was served with tiny pancakes - was good, but too much meat relative to pancakes and shredded cucumber and onions. We split between 2 - perhaps better to slit among 4
It is no surprise this restaurant is one of Philadelphia's ten most popular. The food is fun, and the bento box at lunch is a great way to sample some of the menu's best (like the lamb chops and edamame dumplings). Whatever you do, DO NOT MISS DESSERT! I usually forego sweets, but WOW, these were WORTH IT. We tried the blondie, chocolate ganache, and my personal favorite: the poached pear with milk chocolate foam. WOW. Pastry chef Ian Perazelli hits it out of the park!
Fabulous experience. Worth the wait.
Great food, drinks and service. We had rock shrimp bao buns, general Tso's dumplings and the dumpling sampler. By the time we got to the fried rice, we decided no enter was necessary. All we're delicious!
Chelseas was wonderful and made some nice food reccomendations!
Have dined here many times; food is always good. Nice atmosphere.
I spent my birthday evening here and the atmosphere and the food were incredible!
service was great...
First time experience was terrible.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. It was over booked on a Saturday. Seating took 30 mins after reservations were made. Over crowded. However food and drinks were good. And service was satisfactory. Could have been better. Music too was good. Management should have offered complimentary drinks to customers waiting to be seated. Overall rating 3 stars.
First time at Buddakan in Philadelphia. Food was absolutely amazing! Friendly staff, amazing food, and a great environment! 10/10!
My wife and I went for our anniversary. It was our first time to this restaurant and definitely will not be our last. I can't say enough about our experience except that it was excellent. Staff very friendly and our waitress was very informative and helpful. For our appetizer we had King Crab Tempura and the Dim Sum Sampler. They were delicious and now we couldn't wait till we got our dinner which was the Pan Seared Sea Bass and the Wasabi Crusted Filet. My wife said that was the best piece of fish she ever had and my filet melted in your mouth and we shared the Beef Chow Fun which is a mix of noodles, short rib, mushrooms and bean spouts. All of our food was prepared perfectly. We shared a desert which was the Poached Pear another excellent dish. I wanted to take a photos of all of our food but only remembered when we got to our desert. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Food amazing as always and our waiter was great
As always, uniquely wonderful!
Great place to wine and dine. Great portions. My wife was very happy for her birthday dinner. Highly recommend for business dinners or cocktails.
Beautiful view and delicious food! I will definitely be returning again soon. ❤️
We had a wonderful dinner. Harry was an excellent waiter.
Outstanding food! Quality is exceptional! Service was phenomenal!
Amazing food and great ambiance. Would have to say that it’s one of our Top 3 favorites in Philly! The level of detail to the food and the flavors was exceptional. Nothing disappointed - it was all wonderful. Highly recommend ~ especially for foodies!
Absolutely Fabulous !
Always a fine dining experience, enhanced this visit by the Poached Pear dessert.
The food is amazing and an overall wonderful experience. I am hoping next time we will be sat at the main dining floor.
This place GREAT place and the food is outstanding.
Food, drink & ambiance were fabulous as always. Service was horrible. Waiter was not attentive. Had to beg for drinks. Tab would hav been higher if we were able to get his attention. Tres annoying.
Such a happening restaurant to be on a Saturday night. Everything we ordered was amazing, specially the edamame dumplings...get two orders! Drinks were unique and the service was excellent!!! I have been to the Atlantic City location, while the is a slightly different atmosphere, both are a 5 star !!
THE MOST OVER RATED ASIAN FUSION RESTAURANT IN PHILADELPHIA. SO DISAPPOINTING.
LACK CREATIVITY, OVER PRICED AND TOO SALTY. Out of all the Starr Restaurants I have been, this is the worst (worse than Frankford Hall food). El Vez (the best), Pizzeria Stella and Fete Sau are a much, much better option.
Drinks were good, service (our waiter) was excellent and dessert (Dessert Bento) was the only salvation of our meal. Very disappointing and we'll definitely not going to go back for the food.
There are BETTER options around for this kind of food. Susanna Foo or Raw is so much better.
We had the Crab however, I didn't taste much by way of the plum wine sauce it came in. My husband had the lamb chops of which he said were quite tender and flavourful. We had the vegetable fried rice that was served with a coconut-lime foam of which added an unexpected, yet wonderful flavour to the rice. We were unaware that a side of rice came with my entree or we would have opted for the wasabi mash potatoes instead. The portions were large, so I ended up with leftovers. We split the Poached Pear with milk chocolate curd, fudge, cardamom ice cream for dessert and it was lovely; but would have prefered the pear to have been warm or at least room temperature as I'm accustomed to it being.
Ann, who was our server was by far one of the best servers we've had while dining out. She was warm, engaging, attentive, and extremely personable. She ensured each phase of our meal was to our satisfaction, engaged in delightful banter, and did not rush us in any way. Her recommendations for the dessert and my husbands after dinner drink were spot on. She is an amazing reflection of Buddakan.
It was good
Our waiter Joseph was great! Wonderful food! Will definitely go back.
Delicious! Love the bento box option for lunch. Great way to sample a variety of options. Dessert was great too!
Have dined here many times. Tried the fire roasted edamame this time and OMG, it was scrumptious.
Always have a great time. Food never disappoints. The only down side is I always eat too much food as I cannot choose. Worth the trip in town
This is our second time here and we'll come back again. The menu variety is wonderful and the cuisine is perfect if you have a vegan and meat lovers in your party. The service was very good and the ambiance was pleasant and good for conversation. This time we were there for lunch. The first time we were there for dinner on Christmas Day and that was quite a lively crowd and the conversation level was high but not enough to keep us from going back. The food, like this time, was exceptional. The Endamame Dumpings, the Eggplant sidedish, the Sea Bass, and more were memorable!
Ok this place everytime delivers! Whether I eat here once every 2 years or every other month the years go by and even though the menu stays the same it just rocks it from start to finish. A Philly staple you would be a fool to ever pass up a chance to eat here lunch or dinner!
Everything was fabulous as always!!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Buddakan. The food was delicious and my vegetarian entree was incredible. Buddakan has consistently good food and excellent service. Always a favorite!!!!!
Three of our party of four had not been before. We had seen the Craig LeBan article in the Inquirer downgrading his rating. However, we enjoyed the food and the service was good. I would go back again.
My waiter was absolutely amazing and the food provided was perfect.
Thank you, for a great experience.
Amazing food and service. Everyone I bring here falls in love with it.
