Very average experience. The food was ok, but why go here when you can walk 3 blocks to Little Italy and have more authentic Italian food. We left disappointed. On the upside, the wine selection was very good and well priced.
the food was delicious but they need a full bar. Being in little Italy and entertaining I was disappointed that we had to go somewhere else for drinks.
Very pleased with our meal and service. The seafood pasta is exceptional. We will be coming back!
Alfredo and shrimp dishes were both great. Can’t believe this place isn’t packed all the time. Service was a little slow though even though they weren’t busy.
Great fresh Italian food. It was actually around the corner from the main strip but that was OK because there was a little less noise. The service was a little bit on the slow side but our server was attentive. I felt the wine choices were a little bit limited but reasonably priced. The pasta was extremely fresh, fresh vegetables, love the house Italian dressing. I would’ve liked to seen a few more traditional Italian pasta offerings and more choices with the type of pasta you could choose for an entrée. It appears the only choices you had or Penne or spaghetti. I would’ve preferred something like angel hair with a veal or chicken dish. Otherwise the food was decent and reasonably priced. I would definitely come back as a family outing but would probably prefer something more upscale for something more intimate.
I came with my husband for a dinner and found that nice little spot in little Italy, with great authentic Italian food. The portions were really generous and the food was great. I definitely will be back with some friends next time.
Visiting San Diego I knew I wanted to eat in Little Italy. This was a surprisingly great find - yummy dishes, friendly staff and generous portions, especially for the price. Check it out!
We made a 8:45pm (arrived at 8:35) reservation, the waitress was quick to tell us that they close at 9 and had tried to call me to let me know. She reluctantly led us to our table. Her attitude was terrible, my entire party felt uncomfortable. The worst part was my meal. I ordered the Pasta Putanesca, what I got was watery noddles with anchovy paste, salty olive sauce glob with sloppy un ripe chopped cold tomato on top. Horrible. I sent it back and the waitress argued that cold tomatoes are “traditional Italian” unknowingly stating this to someone that lived in Italy for 10 years. She referred to Penne pasta as Penny but she’s the expert. I hate to think that we were treated badly because on my guests is black, but the attitude felt hostile.
Great place for casual family dinning.
We sat outside, great weather excellent menu and food.
One of the specialty new Italian renesaunce of culture not due to the accorre yet the best is the service and food. Spent this night, which I proposed for my birthday. Well worth it and investigating.
Calamari fritti was excellent. Pasta entrees were good. Service was a bit spotty.
Service was a little slow but it was a beautiful evening in San Diego and we were eating outside so it really wasn't an issue. My wife had a creamy pasta dish with shrimp and I had the veal parmigiana with spaghetti. My wife enjoyed her dinner, complimenting the sauce while my veal was good but nothing spectacular. I would definitely eat here again, probably try a traditional pasta dish.
We were there for an afternoon wedding anniversary. Lisa our servicer was wonderful.
Service was good. We got our antipasto salad with our meal which I was kind of disappointed. Salad was ok. Dressing could be better. Lasagna was good. Also, they give you a basket of garlic bread with your meal which was nice, but if you ask for more they charge. This charge wasn’t mentioned when I asked for more bread, it just appeared on the bill $3.50.
This was our first time dining here. My husband and I throughly enjoyed our meals. We both had a pasta dish which were recommended by our server. Mine was a light pasta dish with all veggies in a light oil sauce. The dressing on our salad was so yummy that we bought a bottle to go.
Very friendly neighborhood feel. Great pizza, sandwiches and many other items.
My husband and I dined at this restaurant earlier this week. We easily made reservations via Open Table and were seated right at our reservation time when we arrived. Our server promptly greeted us and gave us both glasses of ice water, which is all we wanted to drink. He came back a couple of minutes later to take our food order. Both of our meals included a salad and garlic bread, as indicated on their menu. It took about 15 minutes to receive our salad, which was a small house salad with what I'm guessing was Italian dressing. Lettuce and vegetables in the salad were fresh. Garlic bread did not come out with the salad, which was strange. We would have liked to enjoy the bread with our salad.
It took another 30+ minutes to receive our main entrees. The food was very bland. I'm Italian and might be used to my mama's sauce, but this had more of a flavor of parsley than anything else. I did not taste any spice whatsoever. I had to add A LOT of parmesan cheese to my baked ziti to give it some flavor. After about 45 minutes after we sat down, we were of course expecting something a lot different than what we got.
Our server was friendly but not attentive at all. We received one refill of our waters just after we got our salad, so our glasses remained empty throughout the meal. My suggestion is to check out a different Italian restaurant in Little Italy, because this one is just not worth the wait.
Delicious food - super nice service - good entertainment
We ate on a Friday evening, seated outside. The service and food were great and wait staff and management very accommodating. Chicken marsala, veal picatta, seafood pasta- all excellent. The tiramisu was delicious.
the chicken marsala was excellent. The chicken was cooked to perfection, sauce was delicate and lovely and the pasta was just right. I would definitely return when in town again
The service was delightful! Get the Italian wedding soup- it was wonderful.
What a great find. Can't say enough about how wonderful the food was. We started with a pizza, chicken wings and the antipasto platter. Then moved onto entrees. Some of the standouts were: Chicken Marsala, chicken alfredo, and salmon alfredo. Desserts are large enough to share. Try the tiramisu or chocolate cake! If you are lucky enough to have Val as your server, you will have a very thoughtful, well seasoned server, who knows her menu well. She is great at her job!
Food & service wonderful as usual.
I needed a last-minute venue for a family get-together after something else fell through and found that Petrini's had room for a 13-member party on a Friday night. I was relieved to book something, and when 3 additional people needed to come I simply called up the restaurant and they were happy to accommodate the extra folks. The restaurant was homey and welcoming, and there was live music playing the night we dined there. It was a little noisy, but in a way that contributed to the atmosphere. The food was also delicious and everyone had a great time. The staff did everything they could to accommodate our large group and everything went without a hitch!
Decided to try this spot for lunch ! Very convenient to downtown time! We had the baked ziti and the lasagna ! Everything was delicious. It was cooked to perfection !
Great live music that wasn’t “noise” and very good food!
We wanted to eat Italian food, not being from San Diego we looked on the internet and found Petrini's.
The service was great and food was Awesome! It was a quiet Monday. We had the lasagna and chicken parm for dinner, coffee and a canoli for dessert. It was so yummy we didn't need take home boxes. Server was friendly and helpful too.
Try it you will not be disappointed.
Loved the food. Very attentive service. Great live music!
This restaurant was wonderful! The food was delicious, our server was very attentive, and there was awesome live music. I would highly recommend this place if you love Italian food.
Petrinis's is always special. The food is always delicious, service is always great and you can't beat Saturday's live music with Rick Ross, a rare talent and real treat for us. Moshe, Wendy and Zachary always take great care of us. Thank you!
Petrini’s has everything I’ve been looking for: great food, great service, great ambience, and live music on Saturday’s .
Made a last minute reservation because previous plans were messed up
Feels like a hotel restaurant
Menu was not interesting and seemed overpriced for what was offered
We left without ordering
Grabbed dinner before seeing at show at the Civic Theatre. Nice little spot. Good food (with lots of gluten free options) and nice service.
Took a date on new year's. Quite place. Lots of choices. Good times
Zachary took great care of us, and our compliments to the chef!!! The chicken parm and Caesar are amazing!
Love the sounds of Rick Ross, it’s the only place in Little Italy with great live music!
Good for any casual lunch or dinner. Very friendly staff
I love Petrinis amazing cuisine, great service, warm hospitality and now their live music!
I’m grateful to have Petrinis in the neighborhood and can’t wait for our next dinner. We also look forward to having Rick Ross performing!!!
Wendy and Moshe take great care of us and look forward to seeing you soon.
Good food, great atmosphere, it's a great place to eat in little Italy.
Great home style Italian food. Enough to share a meal. We were visiting so could not take it home with us but wished we could.
