Great food! Loved the Foie Gras! Though if your server warns you the drink you want has a very prominent smoke flavor LISTEN! They are NOT joking. We ordered a bunch of small plates and had a great leisurely dinner.
the food as always was stellar, the service really odd. we got starters before drinks arrived, and this was on a not very busy night. also one person in our party was charged triple, so that is concerning. we are all service industry people, we love the food and the space.
Sit at the bar by the open kitchen and you will have an unforgettable experience.
Delicious food! Great for our group. Service was a little slow, but food was great when we got it!
Excellent! The food exceeded our expectations! Every dish was on point. The service was great...all staff was super friendly. I recommend the counter seating.
We went to Toups South for lunch and then visited the Food & Beverage museum.
Both the cocktail and mocktail we tried a bit sweet, but had interesting flavors.
Fried okra was fantastic - clearly made in house and still a bit al dente. Octopus over cheddar grits was very well cooked with tasty Tasso gravy. Jumbo lump crab was really interesting with a sauce of coconut milk and spices that reminded us of Thai food; we liked it but the waiter said it’a love it or hate it type of dish. The fried oyster salad was a bit overdressed, but the oysters were light, crisp and perfectly fried. Portions were generous and service was great.
This was amazing!! The food was superb and the staff incredibly attentive, fun and interactive.
Food service and atmosphere were out of this world. Highly recommend getting a counter seat as you can watch the chefs make the meals and it is wildly entertaining. Chef Jason took great care of us and Our server Twee did an even better job! She was incredibly funny, always right there when we needed her. But st service I've had in a long time anywhere! 10/10 would go again.
Absynthe at the bar, delicious and a fancy pour! The foie gras small plate is amazing. I also loved the lobster lasagna. Gary was wonderful to us.
Lunch at noon mid-week and the restaurant was quite which was good for hearing capabilities. I had seared redfish with greens. The fish was great but the sauce on the greens was definitely too salty.
It’s tough to fairly review this place because we were there during there Saints game and there were two other people there, until they left and we were there completely alone. Sooooo quiet. You would have thought that would mean excellent service— but the bartender was aloof came across as a little arrogant. Just didn’t make for the best visit. On top of that, the food was hit or miss. The crab app was excellent, as was the lobster lasagna. But the biscuits were over fried, crispy, dry and somewhat burned. And the pork belly app with olives was just ok, surprisingly lacked flavor compared to the crab.
The pate on banana bread and bbq octopus were off the charts!
The red fish was excellent but several in our party had the steak and were not impressed. Overall the service was good and the atmosphere casual.
Love toups!! The area not so much.
Our entire experience was fantastic!!! The service was perfect and the cocktails were delicious!! Our brunch was phenomenal!!
The food here was amazing! We were only in town for the weekend but we told everyone about the biscuits with duck fat butter! Was only a quick Uber ride from out hotel in the warehouse district. I would gladly eat and drink here again. I loved it!
We went for a birthday brunch with family, including 2 small children and 2 older children. Everyone enjoyed the food, and the service was awesome. The little kids made a big mess and were a bit loud at times, but the waitstaff and bartender (we sat at a big table right next to the bar) were very patient and accommodating. The cinnamon roll was a big hit. Very sweet but so delicious, and they only serve it on Sunday.
I've been going to Toup's on Carrolton for years, but this was my first time at this location. We came for the bottomless mimosas and the three of us got several items from the menu to try a bunch and everything was great. This may become my pregame hangout before the Dome.
The food was good.... tasty.. the wait staff was terrific. Conversation of bourbons with knowledgeable staff and a the lagniappes just added to the evening. We will def return.
The food was very good, and the drinks were awesome. Service was on the spot and with great attitude.
My second visit to Toups South and am looking forward to the next visit. I've visited for Sunday Brunch on Easter and it was very impressive. This time I brought some business colleagues on our first evening to town. We shared appetizers and mains which included the nightly special of softshell crabs. The menu is composed of thoughtful new Southern cuisine that is locally sourced.
Outstanding place with friendly wait staff, delicious food. Very good spot to bring out of town guests.
We went for the coolinary lunch. The octopus was delicious but you got very little of it. The fritters were good. For entrees the lamb sandwich was pretty average and the crab salad was delicious but again very little of it. I think portions are too small for the price.
Chili rubbed octopus great but would like to see with more octopus. Braised lamb sandwich textures and flavors blended together, tasted good but expected more differentiation for this level of restaurant.
Plates were very small. Octopus served on an oversized bowl. Food was tastee.
One of my go to restaurants. Never disappointed with the food!
Excellent food. The Culinary New Orleans menu was especially tasty. Very professional and personable service. Overall superb.
Lunch date with my work buddy, and first time there: we shared four items from the Coolinary menu and all were delicious! Fish and meat cooked tender, everything had an amazing sauce (garlicky, pesto, minty, etc.). And the server we had was a gem! He was very friendly and wonderful.
Great brunch! I would definitely love to go back for dinner.
Dinner at Toups South. So good I only took one photo! Lovely boudin, crawfish and tasso gratin, blue crab pasta, panna cotta, cheese, wine. All excellent with really great flavour & fantastic service.
Incredible service, went for a birthday and the staff went above and beyond! The food is so fresh and has so much soul!
Food was superlative, service also very good. I was surprised to see the restaurant nearly empty on a Friday night at 7 PM, but the kitchen was in excellent form nonetheless.
The food was great as usual. The service was perfect. They have such a wonderful staff. Always extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back!
Another fantastic Toup's experience. The small plates are the way to go. Cocktails don't disappoint and the staff is top notch. Minus 1 star for the location, not the best neighborhood, although the restaurant is safely tucked in the actual SoFaB museum.
Great dining experience! We stopped in for a pre-concert dinner, ate at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails and chat with their newest bartender, John Michael. The food was plentiful and delicious. The aroma as delectable as the taste!
Excellent food and a very creative menu. Craft beers are all local and great prices!
A must try for both locals and tourists.
Delicious. I had seared redfish, my wife had the fried chicken. Both were great. Can definitely recommend
Great. Incredible food
Just moved into the neighborhood & swung by for a last-minute Father's Day brunch. Kiddo had the waffles, I partook in the pastrami hash, & my partner had an off-menu burger finished with foie gras, bleu cheese, & fried onions. Everything was great & Gregory took wonderful care of us. Would definitely go back again & will be considering it for a close-by spot to grab a drink. Super cool space with an open kitchen & bar area, all tucked next to the SoFAB, it would be an excellent choice after browsing the museum.
Thought I overheard the (very handsome, & presumably) chef de cuisine talking to one of the staff members about wings...& I'm truly a sucker for wings, but don't see them on the menu...perhaps a secret menu item or upcoming special? I'll definitely be back to find out!
My husband got to choose the restaurant for Fathers’ Day brunch. Since he avoids vegetables, I’m a vegetarian, and our teenagers are picky, new-to-us restaurants are chancy. Lol But everyone was impressed by Toups South! The husband loved the biscuits with crab butter as well as his entree of pastrami with sweet potato hash (the dish and the portion size were huge!). The kids enjoyed their burger and waffle, but the waffle was very sweet due to the cane syrup — so next time he’ll order syrup on the side. My cold squash soup was divine, and my cinnamon roll was anything but a “small plate” as advertised. Fluffy and well-balanced, I’d go back for the Sunday-brunch-only Cinnamon Roll in a heartbeat! Service was exceptional — constant drink refills, no food delays, and thorough explanation of menu items and specials. Perfect service and culinary delights — no complaints about the cool, industrial feel of the venue, which boasts the Southern Food and Beverage Museum visible through a curtain in the shared space. Very pleased and very much looking forward to our return.
Wonderful dinner with out of town guests. Everything was delicious, good value, creative choices. Definitely order the biscuits with crab butter. Carrot cake with cinnamon ice cream was divine.
