Ocean Prime - Washington D.C.
Sat 4:00 pm–10:00 pm
Sun 4:00 pm–9:00 pm
A great steakhouse plus some great seafood selections. Unless you get surf and turf, the choice is hard to make.
The food was pretty decent, but not great for the price. The hostess was not very friendly at all. I was underwhelmed by the entire experience.
A group of us went to Ocean Prime to celebrate a good friend’s birthday. We arrived on time and they went to seat us in the quiet room. We asked to be seated elsewhere which they did without any problems. Once we were all seated at a booth in the bar area we waited for about 5-10 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. For the rest of the evening we spent a lot of time waiting. The food comes out and it was average at best. We mentioned the poor service and extended wait time to another waiter who admitted that another waiter had called out which was why service was slow. The manager comped one round of drinks and desserts for us which was very nice but the bill still did not reflex the sub par food and service. We expected much more from Ocean Prime. The drinks were the best thing we had. Next time we’ll have drinks at Ocean Prime but go somewhere else to eat.
Everyone was very friendly from the moment we arrived. We appreciated Diamond’s wine and food suggestions. We ordered soup, salad, entrees, and everything was delicious!!!! Thank you!
The best experiences I've ever had when it comes to find dining at a restaurant. This restaurant is high quality and top notch. From the service to the food, from your entrance to your exit everything was fantastic! It's a must visit when in Washington DC.
Brian was a wonderful waiter. Helped us order oysters. They were great. It was our anniversary. This was the perfect restaurant to celebrate at. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the drinks were generous pours.
Third time and last time. Absolutely abysmal. Places one-third the price are running a better operation. Steak medium. No. How steak extra rare? Jalapeño relish on the side. Let’s slather it on the crab cake bun and bury it under the arugula. Lobster bisque. Similar presentation to the Oval Room. Similar prices. Campbell’s soup does a better job at making a tasty soup. I could go on and on; just never again at Ocean Prime.
My wife and I had our 20 year anniversary dinner here and it was magnificent.
This is a very nice restaurant for all occasions. The service is great and you are greeted as soon as you come in the door. The atmosphere is very nice. Definitely nice for special occasions or events.
I like the restaurant, but there is for improvement. Service can be slow and unatentive and the hostess could be more friendly. The food was great as always.
Great food and service. Liked our waiter, Brian. Created with help from bartender a "mocktail" for my daughter that was spectacular.
The food and our dining experience was excellent. Will, our server went out of his way to accommodate our small group. I took theee friends here and they loved it. We had a blast and would definitely return.
The food was generally good. But my crab cakes were not all lump crab which the server said they would be. Great crab cakes are suppose to be all lump crab not filled with crab meat.
Our crab was just bland and rubbery. Our waiter gave a great presentation to other tables but just asked us what we wanted. The signature cocktails were ok but not for the price. We did enjoy the complimentary champagne for our anniversary
We went here for our anniversary due to all the great reviews. I ordered the surf and turf and my wife ordered the lamb chops. We both ordered lobster bisque to start which was ok but on the bland side. They did present the bowl with lobster prior to pouring in the actual bisque. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail which was 4 jumbo shrimp, not really worth the price they charged. The steak was ordered rare and was close to the correct temperature but not enough char on the outside. The bearnaise sauce was not really to my tasting. The veggies were good especially the garlic mashed potatoes. My wife’s lamb chops were ok but one was on the dry side. The saving grace for this restaurant were the cocktails which were great. They gave us a free dessert was pound cake which was also good. The waiter was nice and polite but definitely seemed like he didn’t want to be there.
Very nice !!
I went to celebrate a Birthday. We ordered the lobster tails and both orders was spoiled. The lobsters smelled just like ammonia. Very disappointing it was no way that the Chef couldn't smell that odor was very strong. At that point I didnt want anything else. I'm not happy about this, I will never return to that restaurant again.
Excelent food, good services
The Sunday “surf and turf” seemed like a good value but the filet was over cooked and tough. The crab cake, although meaty was extremely small.
Good food. Excellent service and you can easily carry on a conversation.
The carrot cake was amazing, the service was wonderful.
The service was great and drinks was great as well. Try the one drink with dry ice if you’re going there.
Exceptional service from servers who are both professional and have fun. Excellent steak.
Outstanding sea scallops, good crab cake and lobster tails. Good bread and yummy chocolate cake. Very accommodating service, and music was turned down a bit when I asked.
I went to Ocean Prime for lunch with my husband. It looks very fancy and high end but the food was about on par with an M&S grill. I ordered a glass of Sancerre, which was on the menu but they were out. I chose my meal off the lunch special menu thinking that would be the freshest. The “tuna “ burger that i got was absolutely horrible. The burger was an over spiced, over cooked, pulverized mess that didn’t even taste of tuna and my side soup was cold. I plan to never come back nor should you
I was disappointed with my recent visit. It’s a beautiful restaurant and service was great, but food was average at best, for the price. My crab cakes were ok, not much flavor. The calamari was excellent. The lobster masked potatoes were good. Unfortunately, I likely won’t go back.
I certainly wouldn’t be able to justify the $67 price tag for the surf and turf dish. The steak was okay and the lobster tails were cold.
Personally it’s an overpriced restaurant with a fancy arranged dish. The waitress was pressing us 2 try a certain dish. After several attempts she finally gave up on selling us the chefs recommendation.
I no desire 2 negotiate or argue with the waitress on what I prefer 2 order. That alone is reason enough not 2 return. After declining the offer so did the customer service. It was disappointing!!!
Great food, but mediocre service. For $100/person, you should not have to wait a half hour for a cold dessert or for your dessert order to be taken.
Great food, great service!
The food was great and the wait staff attentive. The initial hostess at check-in was very rude and dismissive. It was my mother’s 75th birthday and that was not the way we would have wanted to start the night.
The service was poor. Our server forgot what we had ordered having to come back and ask us again. He never checked on us to make sure everything was ok. The buser was really good though. Wish I could have tipped the buser instead.
First time there will definitely be back. Service was great. Food was delicious. Warm bread with a selection of pretzel or french was served. We had a great experience.
Great calamari and the service was fantastic!
It was a great experience. Food was good service was good
Excellent food; the Filet Mignon was prepared just right. My wife’s Chilean Bass was prepared to her tastes. Loved the Jalapeño Augratin. Serice and wait staff were top notch.
It's been a while since I've been to Ocean Prime... and boy was it a treat! I absolutely loved everything about my dining experience. The waitstaff was amazing, the food was beyond delicious, the wine tasted great. It was just a great evening. We enjoyed the calamari for an appetizer, and had the scallops and grouper for our main dish. Every item was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Oh, and how could I forget the lobster mac and cheese and asparagus... you have got to try the mac and cheese. Nothing short of perfection! We were able to get a booth which was nice because I was able to hear the person I was speaking to. Our appetizer and main entrees actually came out within 10 mins of each other but the waitstaff was so amazing that they sent to food back until we were done with our appetizer. They were very accommodating and the service all around was immaculate.
Lovely setting close to everything; service was impeccable and the food was very good
Table of 4, ordered the king crab, $65, not worth the money. Legs were luke warm to cold. Would not have minded the price if they had been good, tasteless. The oysters were excellent, from Washington State. My husband and I had celebrated our 60th anniversary and the waitress came with two glasses of champagne, very sweet of her. Our desserts were the best that I have tasted, however one would have served two people easily. We were so looking forward to a delicious dinner, but were very disappointed. I do recommend the restaurant only because we might have ordered the wrong entree and another choice might have been better. Our two daughters, came with us, are from New York and we had hoped to have a nice meal to show them that DC also had a good restaurant, so much for that thought. All in all, it was a pleasant evening, our waitress was lovely and very accommodating.
