Food was excellent! The scallops were the best I’ve ever had. Service is spotty but atmosphere and food more than makes up for it.
Great for lunch stop, but dinner was average and expensive. Not recommended for special occasions, just regular dinner. The mussels were very delicious and we enjoyed live music. Lunch and bloody Mary was very good and the service was good. Beautiful views, so great for lunch to enjoy the views, but not dinner because it was too dark to see the views.
Beautiful venue and great service but the food was just average. When in Maine stick to the down to earth lobster restaurants.
We loved our ladies lunch there! Beautiful view and decor.
Very expensive for the quality of food and the menu should be extended for the type of atmosphere provide more options.
Very good overall. Excellent dinner and superior service. Very good food overall
I was expected more - noise level was extreme - place was crampy - svc. staff rushed - food meh - they were trying to hard to be fancy - food was bland - overpriced and only 6 selections - truffle fries - soggy - ugh
They were a first experience at your restaurant. We have an unforgettable time with my parents and we would like to return in May 2019 with all our family to stay at your hotel and relive this moment. Thank you, the place is exceptional! How can I access specials for hosting?
Breathtaking views of the waves and the cliff for which the hotel is named. Decor is vastly improved over the previous and is elegant and comfortable. Great for a fancy occasion or just nice dinner date. Lobster chowder is excellent and the food is very good overall. Will be back.
Food was tasteless. Limited menu. Expensive. We were rushed through the meal.
Seating for two was not intimate and service was poor. Food was ok, however the views from the restaurant are stunning
We have been there several times and think it is the best dining view in Southern Maine, Dramatic rocky cliffs and a beautifully done recently renovated interior.
Our meal was adequate. Service average. The noise level was quite high, probably due to the large number of convention diners as well as the design and construction of the room.
Great food. Atevat bar. Service was wonderful
The view from this place is outstanding. I ordered their burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was raw in the center even though I requested it be medium. After I showed them, they made me another one that was well done snd tougher than shoe leather. The fries were burnt. The server was pleasant, but never refilled our water glasses. The food runner dropped our plates with a sourpuss face and bolted. The room was cold that I had to leave my jacket on. If you don’t mind three star service for a five star setting snd views, this is a good spot.
Absolutely beautiful scenery on the Maine coastline, the food was a bit disappointing. This is a great place to bring a date!
Now for the food.....My girlfriend's steak was kind of a "grayish" color and did not taste all that fresh. My scallops with lobster fried rice was good but not exceptional for what I expected and/or paid.
Best views, fabulous food & wonderful staff!!
Great view, food was awesome, waitress was great , music was fabulous. No complaints.👍😊
Food and service were good. Corner table by the window a perfect spot for the view but it was dark so couldn’t see that much but could still watch waves crash on the rocks which was pretty spectacular. The cod dish and blueberry cheesecake were delish!
Wow! What a view. The dining experience matched the view......OUTSTANDING!!
Rude host and waitstaff immediately ruined the evening. Scallops while fresh were overcooked. Fried artichoke appetizer was burned. Lobster fried rice dry. Hotel is beautiful and the view breathtaking but food and staff need work
The restaurant was fabulous. We had reservations and arrived a little early and they seated us immediately.
Our waiter was so helpful with ordering. Our meal came very quickly and was hot and delicious. We also had breakfast on Saturday and Sunday there. Again so courteous friendly and willing to please. We were there for our anniversary and they did not disappoint us. We are recommending the Cliff House and most
definitely the Tiller Restaurant to our friends and family.
Amazing view terrific staff. Excellent food!
Had breakfast and dinner at the Tiller restaurant during a stay for our anniversary. We enjoyed the restaurant very much and will definitely return.
The restaurant has so much potential but the food was pretty bad.
Service was poor. Rude servers. Go for the view, grab a drink and go get dinner somewhere else. We ended up deciding to leave after the appetizers.
Dinner and breakfast were both outstanding and servers at both meals informative and friendly.
Just breath taking views. The food done perfectly. Our server was very attentive and sweet. Treat yourself to one of the best places in Maine!
We had a reservation for 7;45 and didn’t get seated to 8:30. Our food didn’t arrive until after 9. That is unacceptable. Our waitress was amazing and the food great, but we were very disappointed in how the wait was managed and communicated.
We have been summer residents of Southern Maine for five years and had never been to the Cliff House for dinner. The view is spectacular, the service was excellent, the menu varied and the food extremely tasty. We can’t wait to go again and maybe just sit in the lounge and enjoy the entertainment in that atmosphere.
The Cliff House is outstanding as a hotel experience. The decor, amenities and staff were all exceptional. The Tiller restaurant falls short of the expectations related to such a wonderful experience.
I have eaten there twice. The food is good not great. Some of the waitstaff act arrogantly, and the menu has a fairly limited selection. Overall I would not eat there again on a return trip I am sorry to say because the hotel is lovely!
This is a beautiful restaurant in an amazing hotel right on the coast of Maine.
We stayed at the hotel and had dinner at the Tiller- service by Diane was nothing short of excellent...She had great suggestions for food choices...We had the scallops, Ribeye special, the corn appetizer and Blueberry Cheesecake...All were to die for...We will definitely return to both the hotel and The Tiller..
Great food, service is below average. Also $30 for fish is quite overpriced
The older bartender was somewhat rude and inattentive.
Food was just okay for the price. We had a better meal last summer.
Food was very expensive. One dish out of three was very good. The others were fair. The balance between main course and side dish on the plate was very strange. I had strip steak and 10,000 potatoes. It would have been nice to have a few potatoes and a vegetable instead.
Oceanside setting was magnificent! We were seated at a window seat that looked out over the cliff with waves crashing the rocks. We had spent our honeymoon at the Cliff House 47 years ago. We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and hoped to have a fabulous lunch.
The service was poor. There were only two servers for the whole restaurant. When our server finally came to take our order, we ordered two draft Alligash White beers. I also asked how the fish was prepared on one menu item. The server did not know, but said she would find out. After a long wait our server brought us two bottled beers. When I said we ordered drafts, she tried to convince us that she brought us what we ordered. I asked her again about how the fish was prepared. She said that she forgot to find out. She was harried and it showed. I have shellfish allergies so my question was important. I never got an answer and was forced to make a different choice. The food was just average, small in portion size, and not as described on the menu. I ordered seared cod, but the server brought me fried cod. My husband's double lobster roll was small in size, over cooked and dry. The food was extremely overpriced, the service was abysmal, and our birthday celebration was quite disappointing!
My recent visit for lunch at the Tiller Restaurant was very nice and the food was delicious except for the service. The view is amazing and the menu was good and reasonable. The young woman who was our server was either very new to waitressing or very, very busy. She never came back to our table to fill our waters or ask us how our food was. She also never asked us if we wanted dessert. My one friend ordered fruit cocktail and found a hair in it. She didn't report it but I don't think we saw our waitress enough if she did want to do so. Another waitress was waiting tables near ours and she seemed to be much more attentive to her customers. I'm sorry that I couldn't give a much better review.
