Celebrated my mother’s birthday with the family. We were there to taste the brunch. Everything we ordered was delicious, including breakfast and lunch dishes. Our youngest as disappointed about the lack of a kids menu, but they pulled through and made him a special Mac n cheese dish to meet his palate. Definitely a unique and memorable experience at 1921.
Great service, food and drinks! We’ll be back!
Overall an excellent experience. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The tables are not squished one next to each other for extra profit, which means diners get some privacy. Both beverages and food were prepared with expertise and original flavor combinations.
The only negative aspect of our dining experience was my allergy to onions. I had checked the menu online at home, to make sure there were onion-free options. However, once there, we found out that almost all dishes are cooked with onions - even if they are not mentioned on the menu. No substitutions allowed. So, I ended up with extremely limited choices. I honestly think that a restaurant of this caliber should be more precise with menu item descriptions, as to avoid unpleasant surprises at the table.
Entrees don't have to be so exotic. A little more traditional would be nice. They need more variety in their beer selections. Everyone doesn't want a craft beer with fruit in it. I like a nice lager or pilsner beer. They are generally not on the menu.
But, my wife and I do like the restaurant and excellent wait staff. We will continue to support this restaurant.
We have been to this restaurant several times and always had an excellent experience. The food is exceptional and one thing I like about it, the portions are adequate but not overwhelming. (As an aside, I'm not a big fan of going out for a special evening and schlepping home a to-go box because the portions were gargantuan and I wanted to try the appetizer and have a dessert.) The service was excellent. Our waiter, Mason, was thoughtful, knowledgable, and funny but not pushy. Perfect. I had some fabulous oysters and snapper. My husband and our guest had the duck breast and were very pleased. All in all, recommend highly.
Loved it, food was amazing, drinks were delicious, if you’re in Mount Dora it’s a must!
Service level second to none.
Chris was our waiter....fantastic.
All staff awesome.
Absolutely the BEST! The service was outstanding. Our waiter described the food in great detail and when it was presented, it exceeded our highest expectation. It’s an experience you will remember and want to share with your friends.
Beautiful restaurant with an elegant and romantic atmosphere. We went with a small group of five people and got outstanding service and delicious food .We had a memorable night !!
The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was ok, but the menu was limited. I wish there was more things to choose from. I love the hot buns, but would prefer not to have the salt on top.
Great place for friends or a date night. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere was great.
As was our last visit we love this restaurant. Mason our waiter was fabulous and took great care of us. We had family with us from out of town. They are now jealous. Celebrated birthday of my wife and they took great care of us. Food was fantastic.
Made reservations for lunch during a festival in Mount Dora. The menu was limited but the food was excellent. Can’t wait to go back when the full menu is available. Highly recommend
We have been quite a few times. Have never been disappointed. Everything is great. Wait staff is very knowledgeable and courteous. Highly recommend it. Worth the drive from Tampa for sure
It was a slow night due to a craft show setting up on the streets. Parking was blocked & we had to walk quite a ways to get there. But we were there & enjoyed our dinner. A good wine pour helped.
Lovely experience at 1921. Food was well prepared and portions were nicely done so you could have each course and enjoy but NOT feel stuffed. Staff was very nice and 1921 is a restaurant we will visit again!
Once the dining area started to fill the noise level rose significantly but not unbearable. It was a pleasant evening, the presentation was nice and the food was tasty.
Our server, Mason, was outstanding. Our only negative was that the pasta dish ordered by my husband was far too small. In comparison to the generous size of the pork chop and the grouper, the pasta was far too small of a portion for the price charged. When we told Mason about it, he said that pasta is a heavy meal and the portion is that way accordingly - don't agree with that assessment - again, it was overpriced for the portion size. We would never order the pasta again for this reason.
I had not been here before but will definitely be back! The cocktails were perfectly mixed and presented and the food was fantastic! We managed to save enough room to share one dessert 3 ways - milk and honey. Be sure to save space for that!
Overall, excellent food and service. I highly recommend the restaurant!
Server was very indifferent and borderline snobby...we got the impression that you had to be a regular to receive standard attention
Server was basically going through the motions with us all night..
My pork chop was over cooked(ordered it medium) and insipid..I ate about 1/3 ..server never inquired why I left the remaining portion and really did not seem to to care
Dessert was the best selection we had...chocolate mouse cake
Place seems overrated to usd
Our server was awesome! Knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive; never overbearing. He had a special cocktail made for me! The only negative was my husband’s steak - per husband it was just OK. Everything else was delish! We took our daughter (visiting from CT) with us to celebrate her dad’s birthday a little early. She and I have nothing but wonderful things to say.
The location is beautiful. You enter through a courtyard and once inside there is beautiful and varied art everywhere including the dining tables and chairs. We enjoyed great cocktails and appetizers that included milk buns, incredible conch fritters and a maduro flat bread. We then had the chicken sandwich, Cuban sandwich, burger and a cornmeal crusted mahi-mahi. Everything was delicious. The bacon jam on the burger was perfection and one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. We ended with the vanilla pot de creme with sugar cookies. The dessert is the only thing I managed to get a picture of. Worth the drive a really a destination restaurant. Thank you!
Enjoyed our time there, especially the waiter and the service! The food was exceptional !!
Epic meal! Will be back again and again. Maybe every day?
Excellent food. Average service. Terrible hostess.
The squid starter was a rave dish according to my husband. We had yelloweye snapper to follow, delicious.
1921 is a great find located in Mt. Dora. With its eclectic style, you’ll enjoy dining on dishes with local food with a thought-out twist. Very tasty. Recommend the chef’s tasting menu.
It was nice, but not as great as we had been led to believe from locals and others who recommended it. The menu was very authentic, but there were not as many options for entrees as we would have liked - for instance, there was only one 12 ounce steak to choose from and picky eaters would have a tough time sorting through all the unusual and exotic ingredients included in each dish. Perhaps it was a little too "gourmet" for our taste, as we would have liked to see some simpler, well-prepared dishes as well. We also had a special occasion (our wedding) and asked if it would be okay to bring a small cake with us since the hostess told us they do not prepare cakes or desserts for occasions. They said we could bring it, but they would have to charge a $15 "cutting fee," which we thought was totally ridiculous. Needless to say, we did not bring our cake. The cheeseboard we ordered for an appetizer and the milk buns were delicious and the 1921 burgers we ordered were good, but not amazing by any stretch. Overall, foodies will probably drool over this place, but we'll look for other options next time we visit the area.
Amazing! Waitress convinced us to order black tip shark as a special on the menu and it was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant if you visit Mount Dora.
I changed my reservation for dinner on Saturday night several times as my group of dining partners expanded (& expanded). The reservations people with whom I spoke were very accommodating, even suggesting a regrouping that worked better for everyone. The waiter was attentive, the food was inventive & delicious, & the restaurant in an historic space with lovely artwork was fabulous.
Without question, the best restaurant in Mount Dora.
This is a great place for a celebration. The food was presented well and was well prepared. The service was outstanding. We went for a special dinner out.
Our only recommendation would to be have a few options with low carbs. Every item from salad to entrée contained fruit, fruit puree, potato or breading.
For the lunch menu the same is true. It would be nice to have roasted brussel sprouts as a side option instead of the French fires.
Otherwise the food was well prepared
We have visited 1921 several times for a late lunch, but this was our first time going to the Sunday Brunch. It was, as always, excellent. We had the Chicken Wing Starter ... I know ... Chicken Wings sounds more like a sports bar, but these were incredible. For our main course my wife had the Pork Belly Benedict and I had the Hash with Sunnyside up Egg. Both were delicious. Service is impeccable, decor is very nice. Definitely the nicest in Mt. Dora.
Our waiter Mason was spectacular. Great experience. Food fantastic. The milk rolls are to die for. Great setting everything was perfect. Price was excellent value.
Artwork worth the trip. Also have the museum next door, many impressionists. Creative menu, tasy. Creative cocktails, very tasty. Will be going back soon
1921 is a really nice place for a special meal in a beautiful location. The food and service is excellent. Yes, I would recommend 1921 to meet and greet friends, business meal or special occasion.
The GM Adam, our server Brad, and the entire staff, somehow figured out how to make our experience a combination the most amazing high end and the most genuinely personal dining experience ever. Me, Amanda, Chef Bob and Kristen, are all very very grateful.
Husband ordered of magical dining menu...I ordered off the regular menu. Everything we ordered was fantastic. He had the gnocchi with lamb, I am not a huge fan of lamb but this was soooooo good. I had the burger...by far the bear burger I have ever eaten. We enjoyed every item. The service was impeccable. We are already making plans to return. We also liked that it's small and the noise level was low, you could actually talk across the table.
Small portions. Pork chop was flavorful but slightly over cooked. Food is good but overpriced. Loved the artwork on display.
