Perfect for group gathering! the dine out menu is tasty with decent price of $18. It highlights the muscle of the chef! portion is enough. After finish the dessert, it make you feel just full. However,I still added an appetizer as a La cart. Awesome and I believe it will be perfect to pair up with a special drink . Warm service

The design of the restaurant is very nice. Cool devour and nice furniture. It is located on the second floor so there's a bit of a view and its nice and separated from the bustle of the street. Location is easy to get to. The food was uninspiring. The pork belly which is typically juicy and flavourful was overcooked and bland. Both appetizers weren't very good either. None of the food was inedible, but it wasn't particularly good. The plating was nice. The desserts were great and the best part of the meal. The drinks were good and the selection was admirable. Not a place I would probably go to dinner again, though I might go to hang out at the bar.

Service was spotty at times, soup came with bacon the first time when I requested without then Luke warm the second time I got it. Lamb was good but mostly bone.. Lemon cheesecake was good. Cute little place I like the decor a lot. Mostly banquettes which is my favorite. Good overall experience, I'd go back

Went here for Dine Out 2015. Service from the host and waitress were excellent, and the environment was warm and inviting. Had a sparkling cocktail that was well-muddled and had layers of flavour. Starter - Octopus Carpaccio: A little plain, could have used a sauce or a touch of citrus, and had small, very bitter pieces of some vegetable that everyone at our table decided to pick out of the dish. The Octopus was sliced thin and fresh, but the dish was somewhat bland. The Main was Pork belly, and though it was cooked expertly, it needed more of the cherry syrup/sauce to contrast the savoury of the pork. Portions were small, which makes sense because it's a tapas-style resturant, but still left the restaurant hungry. Biggest win of the night - the lemon goat cheese cake. I would go back for this one dish if they ever have it again. I love tart desserts, and this was a perfect balance of citrus/sour and sweet. Who knew a goat cheese cake would be SO delicious. I probably would not go again unless we're in the area and feel like having a stellar cocktail, but it would very much appeal to people who live off Granville, or like a casual bar for the evening that is beautiful, but doesn't take itself too seriously.

Its dine-out menu so maybe the regular time food are better? Having said that, The service was good. The waiter was fairly attentive to all the tables without being too imposing The food took awhile to come and mine pork belly was tough and burnt. Should have asked for another one but I didn't really want to let other in the group wait. The cocktail was interesting. We had the prince of yang and i really dig the salt on the lip of the cup but otherwise felt the drink was a little too herby and sweet for my liking.

Service and ambience were nice but I was disappointed with the food. Portions were small, likely due to Dine Out. The pork belly and lamb were on the tough side. The lemon cheesecake did not actually have any lemon in there other than the curd on top and the chocolate mousse was more like whipped cream with chocolate flakes in it. I did like the raspberry coulis on the bottom of the mousse though. Perhaps the food quality is better when it is not during Dine Out.

Went here for dine out with some girl friends. Service was good as were the drinks but that's where it ended. The portions were extremely small (like 2, 1inch squares of cheesecake). If the food had been very rich and flavourful I would be fine with small portions, however I was extremly disappointed. Oh well, won't be going back.

Went for Dine Out 2015... Surprised by the tiny portion sizes. They were half the size of a 'tapa'/appetizer portion. My main course was 3 one-inch slices of pork belly. Delicious but way too small. My friend got the cheesecake and it was less than a quarter the size of a typical slice of cake. Disappointing. Should have increased the price of the menu if they couldn't create a decent dinner menu for that price. We shouldn't be hungry after 3 courses!

I reserved a table for two about one month ahead for my Vancouver trip. As soon as we arrived and I they welcomed me by name and continued to use my name for the rest of the evening. The owner came over to great us and gave us a great corner table away from a large party that was going on. The food that we tried of their tapas menu was superb. Large portions as well compared to what we're used to in Toronto. The cocktail menu was large and the drinks we had were great. The music (DJ) played some great old school beats and the usual top charts stuff as well. It may have just been for the party. The only negative I would say is that their wasn't a clear path to the washroom from the dinning room past people dancing. Not really a big deal. I will be going back again my next time in Vancouver.

When your evening is about the people, the mood and the discussion, as much as it is about the food, tapas is a great option. The excellent food gets woven into the experience. Three of us spent a couple of hours on a Friday evening catching up and enjoying a casual meal (and some nice wine). I'll be coming back.

The ambience was good if a bit loud, I like the layout, look & the the service was great, but the food wasn't very good, which kind of kills it for me because you know, that's what restaurants are for. Tapas portions and prices but without the quality or flavour sophistication you expect from tapas. It was $130 to feed 4 of us. Items included lukewarm mixed olives & mushrooms in mediocre marinade to start, a cheese platter with some questionable/bland paste spreads, decent bruschetta (highlight of the meal I suppose--the honey was a nice touch), a veggie flatbread with way too much basil, and ravioli that tasted not much different than out of a can.

Bruschetta came on what looked like sliced toast (two triangles) Prawn wrapped in proscuitto was very very salty Ravioli was very very salty Gnocchi was tasty but mushy

the service with excellent. unfortunately we were two people seated in a room with a large loud group of about 30, so conversation was difficult to hear. food was absolutely acceptable--we had no complaints--but it was not outstanding. the bread served is grilled but not brushed with any olive oil, so its dry and tasteless. this is the platform for the bruschette. service was excellent and appropriately attentive. The Refinery is a good place to go for a quick bite and a cocktail before a show, which is why we were there.

Went to The Refinery for the first time with my girlfriend and we were both extremely happy. We went early on a Saturday evening and the place was half full, with it being almost completely full by the time we left. The food was really nice. Not crazy huge portions, but the quality was there and we were still full by the end of our dinner. The cocktails were delicious and unique. Although we didn't do this, we really liked the option of being able to pick a spirit and letting them know what type of flavors we like, which lets them have creative control. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. He was even willing to get to know our names and ask how we found out about the place. We will definitely be going back.

Too many of the reviews are from people looking for "cheap eats". This restaurant is in the heart of the Granville entertainment district so that is to be expected. The Valentines Day special menu was a fantastic pairing of small yet delicious combinations. The duck confit and oxtail stood out and yes...left us wanting more but only because they were so good. We left very content, and will be back soon to explore the new menu due in March. Of note, let the bar staff be as creative with their craft as the chef is with his and the can pair some amazing drinks to match your dinner.

This place was hard to get into for Dine-Out, but I didn't see why. The portions were so small that my friend and I went to a different establishment immediately after and ordered more food! I'm not sure why they didn't just do the $28 price-point instead and give a reasonable amount to eat. Our server seemed to be tolerating our presence more-so than serving us, and was very quick to bring the bill. If Dine-Out is meant to get new clientele in, it did not work here. With so many other downtown options, I can't see a reason to give this place a second try.

The food here was delicious, and was an amazing value. We'd wanted to take part in the Dine-Out Vancouver festival with a couple of friends, and we were looking for a place we hadn't tried yet, with locally sourced ingredients, and hopefully locally located. We were looking at the Dine -Out choices, and The Refinery was in our 'hood. Specifically for Dine-Out, they were featuring 3 courses for $18 - and the menu looked yummy. There were 4 of us, and everyone agreed that every one of the 3 courses was exceptional, as was the service we received. Remembering my dessert is making me want to return soon! ;D

Went there first time for dine out. The portion are in appetizer sz. Eventhough it's only $18, it's suppose to be DINNER not snack. I'm not expecting to leave with an empty stomach. The Ahi tuna is blanded and the beef carpacrcio is so thin and dry that it stick to the plate. The fish taste good but like the size of half my palm. The pork dish is dry and bland. The dessert is not good either. The menu does have some good snacks like cheese or meat plate (If they have good selection). This would be a great place to hangout with friends just to chit chat and drink. I heard ppl say they cut the portion in half during dine out. There are lots of good restaurant in the neighborhood, this place is not on my list.

Tried their dine out menu and am not overly impressed. The tuna tartare and chocolate cake was bland. The stuff mushroom was quite nice. My boyfriend had the beef carpaccio to start which was fantastic and then a disappointing pork tenderloin that was well cooked but flavour was lacking again. The dish was also served lukewarm. He had the apple crumble to finish off which had too much sauce and too little crumble topping; the moist and crunchy mixture of a crumble was not achieved. A cosy little place tucked away on Granville St. It has a lot of potential if the quality of the food is improved.
