Great meal, we had the 10 course meal and it was very inventive and delicious!!
Good solid food. Some mislabeling though. What they said was lamb manti was in fact gnocchi with lamb ragu, and chef seemed clueless why mislabeling matters.
I work across the street and have been here about 10 times now. Each time I've been very pleased with everything. The food is always very delicious and creatively paired and presented. The scallops (whether from the summer or fall menu) are my favorite. The craft cocktails are always excellent. The service here is always stellar. The servers describe the dishes in great detail and have spot on suggestions (and descriptions) for drinks to pair with your meal. It's a great spot for drinks and/or dinner on your own, with a significant other, a few friends, or coworkers. Check it out!
Cute rustic bar, great food and drinks.
My husband and I had an amazing dining experience at Steadfast. First, the restaurant was quiet and pretty, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated, and water was brought immediately and refilled regularly during our meal. Service throughout our dinner was professional, friendly and unobtrusive; not just our charming waiter but all the staff who stopped by our table to share details about the food, refill water and adjust cutlery, or just to chat pleasantly. We opted for the chef’s Tasting menu, accompanied by the Wine Pairing. Every course was special, and although we were hugely full towards the end, there was no way we were going to miss a bite of anything. The whole experience was comfortable, relaxed, and, of course, delicious.
We often stay at the hotel next door (Kimpton Gray), and I have been to Steadfast for lunch and breakfast before, both of which offer delicious menu options and friendly service (the coffee by Dark Matter, is particularly good). So, you really can’t lose for any meal at Steadfast. But, if you’ve got the time and the money, treat yourself to dinner and the Tasting Menu.
I wish I could tell you who our server was, because he was terrific. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his wedge salad with luscious bleu cheese, and I had a beet salad with burrata, and pistachio-laced brown butter topping. So delicious. We split the duck entre and the veal osso bucco and both were excellent. Our server recommended two great glasses of wine for appetizer and entre, and we were VERY happy with the entire meal. This is a good place to try pre-theatre.
We had a great dining experience. 5:45 reservation before our 7:30 show worked perfectly. We had the 5 course tasting menu. Food was delicious. We were able to share, but portions are a bit tight for more than just “tasting”. Service was wonderful. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Food came out at just the right times. Temperature in the restaurant was perfect. I had a short sleeve blouse on and was not cold. Very comfortable, not super busy. We valeted and kept our car there until after the show. When we got back it was parked right in front for us. Short walk to the CIBC theater. They didn’t acknowledge that it was our anniversary, but the whole experience felt special, so it was okay. I’d recommend it!
Instant favorite!! One of best filet’s I’ve had in a very long time! Amazing cocktails!
Enjoyed the food very much. Choices of bread and butter/oil was delicious. Pork chop was tender, juicy and tasty. Potato and mushroom side with duck was fantastic. Drinks were good as well.
Mediocre Cesar salad with bitter ends on the lettuce. Small bowl of soup.
My teenage son and I dined here our first night in Chicago. We chose the tasting menu; our waiter was amazing and provided excellent advice and service. The food was great, but there seemed to be a sprinkling of pickled veggies on almost every dish; the constant astringency note was a tad overdone, IMO. We were seated in the back area near the kitchen, which has a private feel to it. I would definitely eat here again.
Extremely knowledgeable wait staff. I was particularly impressed with our waiter being able to keep up on wine data with my law partner who has his own gourmet wine store.
It was a great dinning experience. The service and food were awesome. I am visiting from DC and I'm happy I found this place.
The gold leaf encrusted pumpkin cheesecake was insane!
A great place for a business lunch. It's different and a great menu.
2 waited 10min for apps after others served
4 of 7 meals were cool.
Waiter said chef likes to ensure food is not too hot. I said, he’s okay with luke warm? Waiter said I’m just conveying what the chef said. Wine service slow.
20% tip still added after the issues. Though compted
Tawny and dessert was appreciated we would have preferred we not be charged for the the items that were late and cold.
Manager apologized but did not address the main issues on the bill.
It’s too bad as our 1st 2 experiences at this restaurant were very good.
Not sure we will be back.
I have always been a fan of steadfast but the last couple visits has fallen short. Despite making a reservation in advance, I’ve always been seated in the back high tops when I’ve requested seating in the main dining room. It’s less than ideal for business lunches. Food was ok!
Went for Sunday brunch and loved the warm, cozy ambience. Had a great server and the food was top notch. My husband had the lox and toast and I had the chilaquiles, which were excellent. I will most likely be craving them until our next Chicago trip.
Food was fantastic. Very talented chef there! Servings were larger than we are used to -- beet and buratta salad was too much for two of us sharing; bread plate was A LOT of bread. My salmon was cooked perfectly, his steak top quality. Ingredients seasonal and harmonic. The catch with this place is the atmosphere. It's lovely, but it's really, really loud. Conversation was difficult to impossible. Service was not what you'd expect with such high quality food. Appetizer showed up before the wine, and the waitress was clearly overburdened and seemed annoyed by us. We gave up on abandoning the effort to order espresso and dessert after waiting 30 minutes. Bathroom is a long hike up marble stairs and down a hallway. Restored hotel looks absolutely beautiful.
To my perspective just ok. Food was good but lots of it, especially deserts, was over thought. Slow bar, that drives me nuts....best for expense account. Little pricey.
Chairs are too heavy to move comfortably for both high table and regular table. Never came back to ask if we need anything else. Would have been nice to get a refill on beverages. Slow to get check for business luncheon.
Allow at least 90 minutes. We have tried breakfast and lunch meetings and it takes 50 minutes for the food to arrive. Fine if you are not on a schedule.
Excellent service and food!
This happened Everytime I come here. This place cannot hold the acoutsics. We we're in a separate room for a business lunch which I noted in the rez and they sit a table of 15 youngins who were super loud and rambunctious. Why would you do that knowing we were having a business lunch. The food here is awful and the menu is poorly limiting. Will never come here again.
Went in to Steadfast after doing some Trip Advisor Research. I was supremely satisfied with the quality of the Salmon I ordered. Had thinly sliced and rolled cucumbers, and pickled onions. On top the cucumbers was a decent portion of caviar to accent the salmon.
We dine out quite often and had a voucher for a free entree when you purchase one. We purchased the Chicago dining out passbook donating to A Safe Haven Foundation. This is the first restaurant we cannot wait to return. Everything was amazing.
Good quality food but the service was slow and inattentive. Pleasant place for a quiet brunch.
Their lobster puree is perfect. Highly recommend eating here.
Had a great business lunch. Our waiter was very observant and kind, watching for when there was a lull in the conversation to provide efficient service. The food was very tasty and decently priced.
I ordered a salad w/bacon in it. It consisted of pure fat cut into pieces! When I asked the waiter to remake the dish, they said it was the only kind of bacon on the kitchen! Would not go back to this restaurant. My husband’s burger tasted like it had mustard on it which he hates!
Food not great, menu selection limited. Service ok. Tables on top of each other.
This is rapidly becoming a convenient favourite in the Loop for me. This restaurant offers great cocktails, delicious food and outstanding service, making it an easy go-to location for business lunches.
A very confused menu. None of our entrees were as described. Also, they are extremely proud of some of their “specialties”. Which didn’t seem that special.
Not a good spot for business meal.
Good food and venue. Tables too crowded together to have good conversation.
I have one major complaint - many spots guilty of this - is the shift to 5 Oz wine glasses for the same price as 6 Oz plus. $18 for a short pour 5 Oz Glass just irritates me in a big way.
Overall - good.
Good server - knew his stuff.
Good innovative Menu in the protein segment - the pork chop was really good. The wedge was good.
A bit dark and not to busy on a Weds night.
Got the 5 Course Tasting with Wine Pairing. The food was really superb. Wine was well matched to the courses. The 4th course, cheese course, was simple food art at its finest. Will definitely go back when we are in Chicago again.
Marvelous, inventive dinner with fabulous service. Had the charcuterie which was tasty and unique, the bread basket with selected butters, oils, and pickles, and the roast duck which was unbelievable. Service could not have been any better. Highly recommend this restaurant!
