Espetus Churrascaria is a Brazilian steakhouse. This restaurant began in 2003, as an homage to the Brazilian cowboys who would cook each night by roasting meat over an open flame. Today, this form of dining has evolved to a totally unique culinary experience. Guests at Espetus are seated with a red and green painted wood block on the center of the table. If the diners are hungry, they place the green side face up and servers will come by with a wide array of grilled dishes on skewers. Whenever they are hungry, they simply flip the block to red.

Espetus has an extremely large and varied menu for guests to enjoy. Guests can enjoy items like sirloin steak, top sirloin, filet mignon, flap steak, grilled chicken, marinated shrimp, rum-soaked pineapple, pork belly, flame-grilled bison and many more. Espetus also has a cold bar with items like rolls and pasta.

We are so fortunate to live near this restaurant! Considering the cost of living for San Mateo, the price for the AYCE experience is definitely worth it. We just recently celebrated our 2-year anniversary here, and everything was wonderful, from the service to the food and the live musicians. We have also dined here on Valentine's Day, which was very busy, so I would recommend not booking a holiday if you prefer a more relaxed and intimate dining experience. We didn't mind the crowd on Valentine's Day because it's to be expected, and we really appreciated the calm atmosphere for our anniversary as well. Our server was lovely, and the amazing gauchos came by frequently. I got to try all the cuts I was hoping for! I highly recommend the pineapple mint juice for non-alcoholic drinkers; it's super refreshing and helps with digestion. For the same reason, I also recommend the grilled pineapple and the mango salad from the buffet. Our favorites for meat were the top sirloin, picanha, filet mignon, and chicken hearts. I also enjoyed the flank steak as well as the beef rib! Everything was very flavorful and cooked to our preference (medium rare to rare), but I'm sure anyone could request a different temperature with no issue. We received a complimentary ice cream with a candle to celebrate our anniversary (I had mentioned in my reservation), which was a very pleasant surprise to my partner (who did not know I mentioned it in the reservation haha). All in all, a fantastic restaurant to celebrate any occasion or simply to enjoy a great meal. We look forward to dining here again in the near future.

It's my 4th churrascarias in the Bay Area. I like it. Very familial ambiance. Meat is great with huge choice, buffet is nice too. Attentive service. Definitely a great address if you're in San Mateo.

The hostess at the front was a real jerk and I almost walked out. We had a rez and were 10 mins early and she refused to give us the table we wanted by the walk even thought it was empty and wasn’t filled until 30 mins later. Kinda ruined the whole Father’s Day experience!!

Espetus is always an amazing experience! We brought our 4 year old daughter with us and I was worried she'd disturb the other tables around us. However, she tried everything that came to the table and the staff was super friendly, high-fiving her and making sure she was having a good time. We even had a wonderful discussion with the manager last night about the food and how wonderful everything was. You always do an amazing job and we can't wait to visit again!

Went for the first time for an early Father’s Day. It was my dad’s first time too and he said he LOOOVED it. Steak was delicious. Many options for appetizer and the salad bar. We were a group of 12 people so the table was a little tight when they were cutting our steaks.
