The Chop House was nice and our waitress was great but not worth the price. Food was overcooked and not prepared as asked.
Everything was delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly.
Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Steaks cooked perfectly to order, amazing sides and appetizers, and a phenomenal ambiance for dining and talking. If I was rich, this would be the only place I would eat, period.
Made a reservation to celebrate my son's 20th birthday on Saturday night. I made note in the reservation that we were celebrating his birthday and to please put a candle in dessert. Upon arrival, we were seated downstairs in a small room, at a too large table for the 3 of us to comfortably have a conversation without moving all our chairs closer to one side of the round. They also didn't fully clear the other place settings at the table. The waiter was friendly. We informed him we were celebrating a birthday. While we were there, we had waiters coming up 3 different times with someone else's order. The food is just ok and way overpriced for what it is. Nothing special although the meat is good quality. We ordered a dessert which arrived with no candle or acknowledgement of the birthday. I sent the waiter back to make it right. Just overall felt like we were an afterthought from the seating to the celebrating.
Very warm and friendly staff. Nicely recognized our special occasion.
We had a great time celebrating a 40th birthday. The Chop House has a very courteous staff, great food and has gluten free options. We loved this place and definitely will come back.
The Chop House is one of my favorites. The food and service were great. My two concerns: the servers casually talking over the food while it was on the tray waiting to be served or wrapped to be taken home. A server (not mine) was setting up the table next to me and had her backside in my personal space for an extended period, she could have easily worked on the opposite side of the table until we were finished eating (as I noticed other servers doing) and after she polished glasses and silverware she dropped the cloth on the floor picked it up and continued to wipe.
Service was a little slow to come check on us, but quick once we had a request. The popovers came too infrequently.
From our service to the dessert! They made my birthday AMAZING! Thank you again to the entire staff!
We had a really nice birthday celebration. The steaks were perfectly prepared. We all want to come back soon.
We celebrated my wives birthday here on Saturday night. Ambiance was really good, we got seated quickly with our reservation. It was noisy and a tad hard to speak, but no issue in the big picture. Food was excellent - Crab Cakes really stood out as outstanding. Our service was a tad slow, it took 1 hour and about 43 minutes from sit down to finish. There was times our waiter disappeared. This was our second time at the Chop House. For special occasions and when you truly want to treat yourself, this is a pretty good option. We will probably visit Chop House 2-3 times a year, for special occasions or to be a treat. Have to say writing this on a Monday, still thinking about how good the food was this past Saturday!
Great food, great service. There are a lot of tables in a small space so you are basically dining with strangers. I did not like that. Our table was in a terrible location, the pass thru where the servers gather and get food, etc. Other than those 2 things this was a great dining experience. No one at our table liked the brussel sprouts so they took those off our bill without us asking. That was very nice, great customer service.
Our server, Sheldon, was very attentive and timely.
It was my birthday and everything was was very good our waiter Luke was so amazing and gracious it was my first time here and I will definitely be back
Great food and service! Everything was wonderful for our special celebration. Perfectly cooked filet and porterhouse steaks and yummy martini and manhattan, salads, and sides. The baked potato was decadent. Too full for dessert! Our waitress was excellent.
Chop House is by far the best fine dining restaurant in Ann Arbor! Best steaks around. Great food and great service, Sheldon tops the list!
Great for date night, celebrations and anniversaries! The service is always the best of the best.
The reason why I chose this steak House was because I saw a lot of great reviews on it. But I guess I went on a bad day. The server was courteous but had the body language that he didn't want to be there. Maybe because we got there at 9pm and they close at 10 but whatever the case was, there were still plenty of people there. The sweet and spicy fried calamari was to die for. Other than that, I have nothing good to say. I've been to plenty of high end steak House and this was just average. I ordered the NY strip steak. It was cooked nicely but I couldn't cut thru it. There was a huge connective tissue that made it impossible to eat. They were nice enough to refund the steak but it was a huge tissue that could've been seen if they were careful. Plus we ordered fries and Mac and cheese and spinach as our sides and they completely forgot about the spinach. They also got one of our appetizers mixed up. It was just a mess. I still tipped over 20% but honestly, I didn't feel that the service was anywhere close to a 20% expectation.
Every trip to the Chop House and La Dolce Vita has been fabulous and this experience was no different. We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had wonderful service, amazing food and a luxurious dining experience all around. The Chop House is a go to for celebrations for us and a meal like this one is why!
Service was fantastic. Food was delicious. Wonderful place for special occassions
It was amazing! The food and service were excellent.
The Chop House has been consistently top notch. The most tender lamb chops I’ve had in many years. Though a solid upscale meal the service was warm and inviting (thanks, Malina!). One of my recommended places for a higher end meal in the Ann Arbor area. Take your time and get dessert.
Excellent service and meal. Expecially great value for birthday celebrations, given the discount.
The menu has a wide variety of choices and the food was delicious. Only complaint is that it is extremely pricey.
Celebrated my birthday tonight at the Chop House. Beef Wellington was very delicious. Service was outstanding as usual.
We took out our daughter and son in law, as they just moved back with him getting out of the Marines. We love it here and brought them for their first time. Great Food, Layed Back, Love It!
Went after a football game. Brought out wrong wine, right winery, wrong year. Ordered different bottle and same mistake. Meat was mediocre.
Our family loves the chop house. The cocktails are wonderful, and they have a happy hour with $5 drinks if you sit on the bar side (where it's first come first served). But it's worth getting a reservation, especially if you plan to eat here on the weekend. The filet mignon with the au poivre sauce is so delicious, and just melts in your mouth. The accompaniments we tried were also wonderful, including the spinach with garlic, garlic smashed potatoes and potatoes au gratin. The lobster bisque was also incredible. So far we've been too full to try the dessert, but I'm sure that will be equally impressive!
We always receive excellent service and fantastic food, regardless of the occasion.
Food, staff and service were all excellent! Surprise Bday party in Carr room!
Both our steaks had to be returned to be cooked more;
They forgot the Oscar and didn’t apologize at all. Took 15+ minutes to bring it (Oscar) out after the fact and then realized the steak and everything else should be warmed up again because of the delays in delivering everything we ordered and then to re-cook the steaks. Total disaster for a $400 meal!
Had the lobster bisque (without the sherrie sidecar) and French onion soup to start, both were outstanding. Husband had the steak au poivre, I had the beef Wellington and we shared the potatoes au gratin. Be warned the beef Wellington is done very rare but that's fine with me and it was amazing! Husband was very happy with his steak. The potatoes were a huge serving and just ok, but got a tip from the waiter that he fried them up for breakfast so we had steak and potatoes for breakfast the next day :). Finished with creme brulee and a French coffee, everything delicious!
Excellent services. Pam was beyond terrific. Love the electronic menu on the tablet. The food was wonderful. It was a great experience.
We had a group of 5 visiting Ann Arbor for the weekend. We took in the Michigan football and hockey games and, in between, wanted to treat ourselves to a special meal. We couldn't have made a better choice than the Chop House. The food, service and atmosphere were phenomenal. This will be an annual destination.
Outstanding meal, service and experience- I’d come back to Anne Arbor just to eat there again!
Great family dinner. The steak is fabulous and we love the wine list. Very extensive and great selection in an array of price points. Highly recommend The Chophouse! Fantastic food and service.
Disappointed that the table I requested and the server i requested were not honored. I specifically asked for a certain server and table and that was overlooked completely.I don’t believe they read my comments for the evening, I had guests from out of town and I wanted a certain table and server. Perhaps they didn’t see the notes I had left in the special requests section.
The food was phenomenal. The steaks were some of the best I have ever had. Their crab gnocche was also amazing. The Moroccan shrimp was great.
My wife and I waited about 10-15 minutes for anyone to come to our table after being seated, so that was disappointing. Our service otherwise was great. Lastly, the drinks were disgusting. That’s not hyperbole. My old fashioned tasted like watered down grain alcohol with a hint of citrus. My wife’s pomegranate martini tasted like cough syrup. Simply inexcusable at such a place.
I gave the restaurant four stars overall because the food quality redeemed the negative aspects. If you desire a drink before/with dinner, I suggest you have wine or beer.
Excellent food and service
This is the premium dining destination in Ann Arbor.
