Korinne was our server and was outstanding made our date night great!
It was a good experience but not the best. The food was sub par and the service was slightly awkward. I love the iPad menus. It’s great that you can see mouthwatering photos of the food before you order it.
Unfortunately, the Pancetta Boursin Chicken that I ordered looked nothing like the photo. The chicken tasted good but the rest was just not good. The server didn’t service the table very well. She did not remove empty glasses and plates. She also did not ask if we wanted additional drinks. I would have ordered another alcoholic beverage but instead the server brought out the check mid-meal. We were prepared for a nice relaxing meal on a Friday night but fleet like we were rushed out. We will probably pick another rest next time.
Great food, convenient location, good value and nice ambiance. Looks like a major staff turn over recently and it seems they need to hone service a bit. Would go back!
As always, excellent service and great food. I had the prime rib which was done to a perfect medium rare.
Went Saturday night after the PSU game. Very busy. We had reservations and our table was ready on time. The appetizers we ordered were outstanding. Everyone enjoyed them. Wine list was nice. The entrees were hit or miss. I ordered crab cakes. They were fine but not really hot. The mashed potatoes were school lunch level. Cold, stiff, and served with an ice cream scope. Very little flavor. The vegetables were meh. Could have been frozen for all I could tell. My wife did really enjoy her fish tacos.
Excellent service - they take great care of you! Especially with their great birthday deal - giving the birthday boy/girl their dinner FREE! The food is delicious; presentation and service are excellent! Highly recommended!
Good place. Nice staff
We enjoyed great food in an ambient setting on a Friday evening. I would highly recommend Carson's American Bistro.
Reserved a party of 5 for a birthday. We were seated at a table in the bar area, our waiter was so busy all night he really didn't have any time to pay attention to us. Everything took a long time, my wife ordered a glass of wine, which he forgot. We had to ask for more water after there were 5 empty glasses on the table for a long time, then never came back to check after that time. Our potatoes were actually cold, but I had to go up to the bar and wait to get waiter's attention, by the time more were brought, our food was gone, and the new potatoes were at room temp. We tried to still enjoy ourselves, keep things light, and enjoy the company, but by the time we were done, it was a relief to just be able to leave. It was quite a disappointment. I was told "it's busy because we have a party of 25 in the other room". Not very satisfying customer service at all. The food tasted good, but not enough to overcome everything else that just fell flat. Sorry.
Good happy hour specials for appetizers and drinks
Everything was quite good and the service was excellent-truly a successful experience.
Slow service - but good food and attentive waiter
The staff was very nice. The food just wasn’t very good and it was pretty expensive for the quality that it was.
I did not feel like the quality of the food or taste was worth the price that we paid.
We had a great experience as always! Service and food is exceptional.
Really disappointing. Party of 2. Sat down at 6pm-didn’t receive our dinner until 7:15pm. We ate half and then had to take the rest to go to make an 8:00pm theatre curtain. If you go out to eat and don’t actually get to eat, that’s a fail.
The appetizer “tots” were under seasoned-wouldn’t order again. The fish entree? Fish was fine, fries were lukewarm, and their horrible blue cheese coleslaw lives on. Enough already.
Floor manager apologized and brought us a free beer while we were waiting for our food. Server was useless.
No need to go here again until they make major improvements.
The restaurant was half empty at 8:15 on Saturday when we arrived. After being seated, the server took a long time to greet us. We ordered drinks. The server again took a long time to bring our drinks. While we waited we could see a majority of the waitstaff simply standing in the back and chatting it up, our server included. We ordered and proceeded to wait over 45 minutes for our meal; which was ribs (precooked), prime rib (precooked) and a salad. The server was nowhere to be found during the wait to even get an update. The food was hot and decent, but the lack of service and extensive wait already ruined the mood. The Prime Rib with Brussel Sprouts, Blue Cheese cole slaw and Salad were great, ribs were tough and mediocre. The issues with this restaurant seem like managerial problems, the potential is there.
This place is in a great location, the menu has a nice selection, ambiance good although the music was odd and too loud. Service very good although a lot of bumbling with wait staff. Overall very good.
I had the prime rib. It was fantastic. It was the most tender prime rib I've ever had!
Appetizer were really good.
Main Course, Prime Rib large cut of Meat, but looked like it sat under Heat lamp to long, Meat
was very dry, Redskin potato were mashed but over cooked and very runny. Waiter said that looked normal.
(It wasn't normal) , Crab Cakes were ok, but also had Runny Redskin potato. very disappointed.
Excellent food! I tried the meatless hamburger and it was DELICIOUS!! The service was good. The waitress was fine, just I little slow in serving me. But overall, the ambiance is great and the food is excellent. A great place to sit at the bar and watch a game!
Normally, golfing friends and I go to Carson's after a round at Leslie Park. The lunches normally are good so I suggested it for dinner with other friends during the week. The restaurant wasn't busy as most of us arrived around 5:30 p.m. I ordered swordfish with couscous. The swordfish was just OK, and the couscous had crunchy pieces in it. The server didn't bring the avocado/mango sauce that should have accompanied it, and I honestly forgot to ask for it. The wine prices were high for the serving size. Once the restaurant got a little busier, our server's attention diminished. I did tip her 20% but afterwards was sorry I did as the food and service didn't warrant it. I don't think I would go for dinner there again but probably still would go for lunch.
Took my mom out for what would have been my parent's 64th wedding anniversary. Blissfully hers was the only meal that turned out well, even though she had to send back the prime rib because she asked for medium and it was rare.
My brother ordered the chicken and waffles, only to be told nearly 15 minutes later that the waffle machine was broken. He ordered the fish tacos instead. The result was gloopy, and according to him, "not very good."
My husband and I both order the shrimp and grits. His arrived hot, mine had a skin on the gravy and was cold. They obviously microwaved mine and then brought it back as the small sample I took out of the frankly underwhelming grit cake was evident when it returned. The gravy itself was overly salty and for a mushroom sauce, one pathetic slice of mushroom was included.
When the manager stopped over to ask how our meal was and I told him, he seemed pretty disinterested.
Overall not worth the $$ it takes to eat there.
Great food and great service
One of the better restaurants in Ann Arbor. The food and service were excellent.
As usual, great service, wonderful food, reasonable price
Always predictably okay. Location and wait staff seem to be best assets.
I enjoy Carson's very much! I highly recommend it.
Filet and Prime Rib are outstanding, as well as all the desserts!
The ambiance at Carson's is as good as the cuisine. The only wrinkle in this particular visit is that it was my guest's first time there, and her prime rib really wasn't that good. Everything else, however, was great, including the waitstaff, Manager, etc. I would still return to this restaurant for special occasions. I just wouldn't take a chance on the prime rib again.
Great place for our business lunches - and they have some of the best gazpacho I’ve had.
Carson's American Bistro Ann Arbor is all around excellent, our favorite local restaurant. Great menu with something for everyone and very flexible on meal personalization, attentive and exceptionally friendly servers and staff, and great tasting meals. Our personal favorites are the prime rib, ribeye, chopped salad, bison burger, brussel sprouts, spinach and artichoke dip, chicken paillard, macaroni and cheese with bison burger, baked sweet potato, carrot cake and too many more to list here. Carson's is our first choice for both casual dining and special occasions, especially family celebrations for groups large and small. Enjoy!
The kitchen was backed up and we waited nearly 45 min for our entrees. Each of our four entrees was lacking flavor. The meat was dry and the sauces didn’t correspond well with the entrees. We have had better experiences in the past, but don’t recommend it at this time.
First time - very good - we’ll be back!
Great food and accommodated all 8 of us.
It was outstanding are sever jace was outstanding also.
Nothing special. The restaurant seems to believe they are a high end steak house. They are not. It is all OK, but nothing special.
Excellent. Wish we had one in St. Louis. MO
We've been to Carson's many times and it's a regular place for us to enjoy dinner with friends and family. The recent evening that we were there, we must have had a wait person in training. He lost our drink order, or said that the bar lost the ticket, then When delivering our soup and salad, accidentally underbalanced the tray and dumped the two chocolate milks (in lidded styrofoam cups- thanks goodness) into the corn chowder. Fortunately, it only spilled some of the soup into it's saucer. My dining partner was good humored about it but the service suffered the whole evening. At one point, when we asked about our delayed drink order, we were told that a large party arrived and that's why no one was attending to us. The place was not crowded.
This experience will not keep us from going there, but come on, Carson's, you can do better!
I've been here several times and each time I've had some minor issue with their service. My list includes waiting a very long time to get the check settled, being inattentive about beverages, and the meal arriving just after the salad was served. Today the lunch fresh catch salmon was very good but the portion was very small, 3-4 oz. And the couscous side had zero flavor.
We had a great dinner at a great price.plus the service was outstanding are sever was great
