Gratzi - Ann Arbor
Ask about our Birthday Meal Deal!
We had a great time visiting our son in Ann Arbor. Dinner was delicious and we loved our table upstairs looking out the window. We will definitely come again.
This is our go to birthday place. Great food. Great environment.
Food was good, not great. Mixed drinks are incredibly small and expensive. Wines by the glass very limited. Very friendly wait staff. Nice ambience
We'll be back soon! It was an incredibly wonderful and romantic evening. Thank you for the wonderful food, ambience, and great service!
First time at Gratzi. The food was very good. Try the mushroom pizza with white truffle oil. It is great for 1-2 people as an appetizer. We ate way too much food.
Our meals were excellent and the service was exceptional.
Do not go to Gratzi if you are a vegetarian or a vegan. Every dish includes meat.
Great food and great service. Would definitely recommend
We have been to Gratzi several times [for dinner and for brunch] and have always had a great experience.
This Sunday we made a noon reservation and looked forward to Gratzi's terrific brunch. When we arrived, we were told that Gratzi no longer has a brunch menu. BE ADVISED!
For no apparent reason (the restaurant had not yet gotten busy and there were empty tables all around), we were seated literally next to the kitchen. There are two booths there and I would highly recommend they either do away with those or put up some sort of a partition as it totally takes away from the meal and makes you feel not as important as other customers.
Gratzi was overbooked during a game day weekend where the greeter at the door could not find my reservation for a few minutes. Table we were stuffed into was not comfortable and very loud. The waitress apologized a number of times for the long wait and lack of turnaround on our order. We waited for over 1 hour for our main course. Also, we told the manager about the temperature being way too hot in the restaurant and he came back to thank us for noticing since "they" did not adjust the temperature and he stated it was set at 78 degrees. Not very efficient, after they told us it was because we seated close to the kitchen. My chicken marsala was way over cooked and when I mentioned to the server she apologized again. Apologies and a hefty bill will lead me somewhere else in the future.
Not great food. Additionally, not enough attention is paid to food allergies. I have severe nut allergies, and the waiter fully communicated this to the kitchen, but there was still a nut in my salad. Very disappointing.
Family weekend U of M
My lamb Chops were mostly fat.
food was good, service great although took a long time to get our main entree
Excellent Italian food with a great selection. Meats, cheeses, pastas, and fish were all fresh and delicious. Great for groups.
Enjoyed our night out with my daughter and her two friends. Everything felt very relaxed and we had a lovely evening. I would have liked for pasta to be a little lighter, less thick and chewy, but braised pork sauce was delicious. Everyone else seemed to enjoy there meals as well and creme brûlée was a hit as well. Charlotte was a gracious and professional server.
Luv to visit Gratzi whenever in Ann Arbor. Never disappoints!!!
Nice-ish college town Italian-American food. My food came out lukewarm-room temperature. I asked it to be warmed and the waiter was responsive. It came back lukewarm and actually had a piece of veal that was cold in it. Management responded appropriately and took the charge off the bill, but time ran out to make another since we had other plans (1-1/2 hours total there). It’s a place that’s satisfied being one of the popular places in a college town and isn’t reflecting on being excellent.
Food and service was incredible, cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, both food and wine. Ambiance was also really nice and quiet, although it was a weekday evening. Staff was very friendly and conversational, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great evening. Definitely on the expensive side but totally worth it for a special occasion!
Great fish, risotto, pasta, kids menu, and appetizers
Gratzi’s has been very hit and miss lately. My favorite dish is the Tuna with Rissotto cake. This time, the tuna was cold and Rissotto cake was too well done.
I ate at Gratzi Ann Arbor Restaurant on October 14th . The food was absolutely terrible, cold, and flavor was absent. The service was good. The manager offered to take it off the bill- but as he did take my wife's meal off the bill he said "My Treat" ( Absolutely it was not a treat )
Good service with terrible food is not something you want from a restaurant. I would recommend that folks consider eating somewhere else in Ann Arbor as there are many other restaurants with great food and great service.
My wife and I have a tradition of going to Gratzi for our anniversary every year. After this last visit will we not be returning again.
We'd made our reservation weeks earlier. When we we arrived the restaurant was not busy, however we were given a cramped booth. It ended up being okay, since it was private but, we kept wondering WHY we were shoved into a tiny booth when almost every table was empty.
The food, was terrible and was $181 with tip.
We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It came out ice cold on one side of the plate and burning hot on the other (obviously put under a heat lamp). The waitress never came to ask if it was okay, so I ate the cold side....my wife loves calamari and the hot side was excellent.
Then our main dishes came. I had ordered salmon (a $26 entree), which came completely RAW, they'd just put a piece of raw salmon on top of the pasta! My wife ordered the filet ($35) and had ordered it medium, it was also barely cooked. The waitress had just thrown the plates down and disappeared, we flagged her down and showed her the raw meat. She apologized and took both plates back.
A short time later our plates came back, again the waitress threw the plates down and disappeared without checking if things were okay. Then, a manager stopped by and asked if our meat was cooked now, didn't wait for a response, said something about getting it right the second time, and left. My salmon was cooked perfectly, my wife's filet was now well done and hard.
As we ate it became obvious that the "re-fire" had just been to put the entire plate in an oven. The meat was cooked, everything else on both our plates was hard and dried out. My wife's potatoes were inedible and the sauce on both our dishes was gone.
At this point we were just too upset to care about the food... We ate what we could and just dealt with it.
We ordered dessert, tiramisu and coffee. Both were excellent. A pleasant surprise from the rest of the meal.
excellent dinner right before the UM game....good service, good wine choices....moved right along and had plenty of time to walk to Michigan Stadium...have been coming for many years and it always meets expectations
Excellent service!!! Good food and atmosphere. It made our special occasion that much more special
The wait staff was attentive. The server went out of his way to show us a good time. Food was excellent.
The experience that we had was great,we have not been there in 29 years
Every dish was overcooked
Brussel sprouts were hard and tasteless
Shrimp were overdone
Veal was overcooked and bland
Hazelnut cake was stale and hard
Coffee came 15 min after i finished desert because” all our cups were dirty”
Waitress did her best
Many meals her over past 20 years and this deviation was unacceptable and not appreciated
I have only been to Gratzi a few times and many years in between times. I would say that the menu is enticing and the soup of
the day was very good but my seafood risotto, which was highly recommended by the waitress as one of the favorites, was bland and had only a few small shrimp. I am Italian and have never had risotto like that. My husband like his chicken choice ok.
The waitress was nice and gave us complimentary limoncellos for no reason at all. Maybe she saw that I didn’t eat my dinner, but I never complained. It may be a while before I go back to try Gratzi again as Ann Arbor as many restaurants. A plus is that on football game weekends not many take reservations as Gratzi does.
20 year anniversary
Manhattans looked like Shirley Temples and were 1/2 the size of other fine restaurants. Veal was tough and cold. The rabbit potions were minute. Salad was excellent as was the Risotto.
Been to Gratzi many times over the years and I wouldn’t go back after this experience.
Superb Italian food at a reasonable price, great service and very relaxing.
Loved the food. Lobster pasta not enough lobster for price. Martini was only half the glass. Risotto to die for.
Disappointing. There were 3 of us having dinner at what we thought would be a good option; but unfortunately, not one of us pleased. The food was moderately passable. I would not recommend it, considering so many other options in Ann arbor.
The waitress was new, her third day so she was slow. We asked for Pellegrino...It took 10 min. plus.
Two of us became ill the next day;
their seafood? Pasta.
I was really disappointed.
Not going there anytime soon.
I think that when the restaurant is slow, the host stand is not a good place for staff to gather and talk, especially when they are not paying attention to their tables. I also think the appearance of several servers was unkept, ie uniforms dirty, improper fit, just did not match the fine dining experience. The food and cocktails were wonderful as usual.
The most outstanding service!! Went to celebrate my birthday and my parents 35th wedding anniversary and the staff made our night so special!!
Fantastic food and great service. Half-off bottles of wine deal was misleading and we ended up ordering more wine than we wanted but other than that, no issues!
Gratzi is a favorite restaurant with wonderful food, hands down. That said, whether we arrive 10 minutes early or 5 minutes late, we will almost always wait 15-20 minutes for a table ... and tonight, while waiting for our table, close to 15 minutes for the bartender to fill our drink orders and remember we were there, standing while he waited on others. I love this restaurant but the evening often starts out with aggravation at the bar or with the long wait. Perhaps add bar staff to accommodate the overflow???
