Persian
Lala Rokh, established in 1995, is located in the heart of the historic Beacon Hill, and is the namesake of Thomas Moore's 1817 romance novel. We feature Persian cuisine lovingly prepared and garnished with fragrant herbs and spices that we import directly. The recipes have been handed down from generation to generation to us from our mother who still tastes everything for quality. The restaurant is decorated with our family's one of a kind museum quality artwork. Our staff will do everything in their power to welcome you as we would to our home and provide impeccable service. Our specialty cocktails and wines have been created and picked specifically matched to our cuisine. Winner of numerous national and local awards by Gourmet, Zagat and Boston Magazine.

We've enjoyed dining at Lala Rokh over the years, but unfortunately because they are closing, the service was a little haphazard this nite. Their signature drink, Lalatini will be sorely missed. Most of the foods on their menu have not disappointed and we can only hope that whatever moves in next, will be just as wonderful for the neighborhood.

Sadly after almost 25 years, Lala Rokh has closed its doors! We were delighted to enjoy a memorable dinner there earlier in the week. Those who have been to Lala Rokh over the years know how the flavors explode in your mouth -- truly a wonderful experience. Best wishes to the brother-and-sister Bina families as they begin a new chapter!

Very disappointing. I had been to Lala Rokh many times in the past, but not for some time. First, we were placed in essentially a basement room. Second, the table next to us was extraordinarily noisy. Third, one of the hostesses was rude to one of our party. Fourth, the main courses were good, maybe very good, but not exceptional. By contrast, the mezze plates were exceptional. If there is a next time, I'd order all mezze plates.

The restaurant is closing, so I suppose reviews don't really matter. For years it served as a modest neighborhood restaurant, best for a drink and a mezze or two. But there are better restaurants in the area.

Saddened that this restaurant, with such wonderful food, will be closing soon. Equally saddened that our last dining experience there will be such a sour memory. After leaving the bar and being seated for dinner, the bar refused to continue serving our drinks, which were clearly in stock....because they did not want to open another bottle ("We're closing soon and they don't want me to open that bottle...."). The owners, who made this decision, were ever-present while visiting other tables, but went out of their way to completely avoid coming near us to explain their decision. It was a petty thing to do, it was poorly handled, and we left shaking our heads in disbelief.

Service could be improved. Often the wait times are because your customers are waiting to the wait staff to bring the check or take the check to be cleared.

This restaurant was highly recommended by a colleague of mine. I had made birthday reservations for 7.30 pm at the restaurant and promptly showed up 10 minutes early. I was greeted by a woman who seemed to be the owner. She told me to wait a few minutes because the table wasn’t ready yet. I waited while many other people were being seated in front of me. She finally sat us 45 minutes later in a different table that she had originally intended to sit us. I was very understandable but a bit annoyed given that it was a birthday dinner for my friend. Then, after she sat us, we waited another 20 mins for her to show up and take our order. She couldn’t find a waiter so she took it upon herself to serve us, however, mid order, people showed up at the front door and she paused half way and went to greet and sit them, and then came back to complete the order. She apologized very casually rather than make an actual effort. Then our first plates were brought by her, and the rest by two other random waiters who didn’t even say hi, or explain the food. The only best part of the experience by the end of our dinner, a gentleman who seemed to be the owner’s husband came and greeted us. He was very polite, attentive and professional. I wish he had served us all along rather than her. It was a truly dissapointing experience for me. I liked the food and the ambiance, but the service I received was so poor that it outweighed everything else.

La Roka is a charming setting for an unusual and truly delicious meal. The shrimp appetizer was scrumptious and the hummus plate terrific. Flavors were subtle as well as intense depending on the dish and everything seemed very fresh. Main courses were good too. Would highly recommend as a very fun place to dine and have pleasant conversation.

Service was attentive like always . Food was a bit greasy this time and adas polow was too sweet . Fasl salad portion was very small !!! I expected a real salad portion like any other restaurant . When you pay 11 dollars for salad you don’t expect such tiny portion . Kisir was more filling and very delicious . Kashk bademjoon also excellent and full of flavor . Didn’t expect to pay 39$ for one scwer of barg and chicken . Could have had a nice steak for that price !!!

I've now had the pleasure of dining at Lala Rokh, six times (in the past 6 months) and can say with certainty that this is truly a neighborhood gem. I can't believe that I'd lived in the city and missed out on this for so long. The staff and service are top notch. They go out of your way to make you feel taken care of. The food is amazing! Order the salmon entree. I've had it each time and it's always been amazing. The kale salad can't be missed. The meatballs are amazing. All of the cocktails are wonderful and the saffron ice cream dessert is unexpectedly divine. Literally this place has become one of my favorite restaurants in Boston.

Wonderfully flavorful, interesting food in an elegant but comfortable restaurant. Our waiter was utterly charming and offered excellent suggestions. Our favorites were the duck fessenjam and the olive tapenade -- best things I've ever eaten. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston -- a great place to take out-of-town guests, as Persian food is different than the usual yet accessible and delicious.

The food was really flavorful and fresh. We had many very good dishes, but one that no one at the table liked. Also, the cocktails had very little flavor or just didn't taste good. We had six people so we got to try a variety of both drinks and food. The service was polite but harried.

Very strange vibe. When questioned about fava beans in the rice mixture the manager pick up my friend’s knife, poked around on her plate and pointed them out to us. I was going to host a business dinner there in a month (had many great experiences there in the past) but will not do so. Seems the whole decor has changed (e.g. from beautiful menus to paper sheets stuffed into dirty plastic sheets) as well. Has it changed owners? I will not be back, sad, since it was once an elegant place.

This is one of our go-to restaurants for dining in Boston. The food is very good, they have valet parking and the prices are very reasonable. My only complaint this time was that they seemed a bit shorthanded. Our waiter was great but it did take awhile longer to get the food but otherwise, it is a great restaurant.

Easily the most underwhelming dining experience in a long, long time. I don't know what others are referring to when they talk about the "flavors." All I could taste was oil and butter. The saffron and lemon chicken wings were greasy. The salted cod "fritters" were patties with pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top. Duck leg and sea bass entrees were equally flavorless. How do you make a dry, tasteless duck leg? This was the worst $300 I have spent on dinner in a long, long time.
