   It was and enjoyable experience in a very pleasant and quiet atmosphere with good food though a somewhat limited breakfast or Sunday brunch menu. Eggs benedict was served on an untoasted English muffin --or at least it seemed untoasted and more bread like than an English muffin that I would have preferred. Salad and its dressing was good.

   The poached eggs for the Eggs Benedict were so under cooked that the whites of the eggs were still transluscent and liquid. The cauliflower soup and the squid salad were very nice.

   The food here is excellent, fresh and well prepared. The service was attentive and gracious. The day before our reservation a fifth person joined our party, and the restaurant was able to graciously, modify our seating. It’s kind of pricey, so be aware.

   The spring menu has brought some new items that continue to demonstrate the creativity of Absinthe. The escargots are uniquely presented outside the shells with green garlic and ferns on a bed of pain de mie. The cauliflower soup is a treat for the eyes as well as the palate with its addition of sweet peas and asparagus tips. The monkfish was a tasty and generous portion.

   Excellent lunch on Saturday before Mother's Day. We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, soup, and salads. Service was okay, the only real negative was the fact that our french fries meant as a bite to accompany cocktails arrived 20" after our drinks were delivered, and at the same time as our main courses. A mix-up? It was a lot of food at one time. The fries were seriously hot, crispy, and delicious.

    We go to Absinthe a few times a year before the Symphony. The wine is exceptional and the food is delicious. It’s not a bargain place we always sink a lot of $ in the experience. But we will just go less frequently, we enjoy it too much to stop.

    Our experience was ruined by the atrociously high noise level in the room. We could hardly hear the person sitting next to us because of raucous voices and bursts of laughter coming from across the room. While this situation is subject to chance (whoever else decides to arrive each day), the problem has been present to a lesser degree on other occasions. You should consider different wall coverings and decor, floor, and ceiling. Unfortunately, I will no longer return or recommend Absinthe.

    FANTASTIC brunch spot if you’re taking in a matinee at the Orpheum or Golden Gate!! The food is excellent, the service is lovely, and if you’re lucky enough to get one of the cute tables in the bay windows on Hayes Street, it’s a little slice of heaven!

    It was terrible. We haven’t dined in Absinthe since Covid and so made a reservation for pre-recital lunch on Sunday. As we entered the restaurant, the waiter took us to our table, asked if we wanted any drinks and also mentioned that they only have what’s on the menu, no specials. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water. The menu offered very basic dishes like creamy soups, salads (just greens with no option to add chicken/fish/meat etc), oysters.. extremely expensively priced (maybe this is a “special” brunch treat). We asked our waiter if there’s a way to add some protein to the salads, the answer was we don’t have anything to add to this menu. So we asked for the bill.. paid $7+tip for the sparkling water bottle and left the place. Have to admit we were both shocked especially that we knew the restaurant from a few years ago and recent reviews gave the place 4 and 5 stars. I guess brunch isn’t their thing :(

    Attentive and charming wait staff. The Asparagus salad was perfectly prepared. Loved the charred octopus and we finished with the Meyer Lemon pudding. The Sancerre was a perfect accompaniment. It's pricey, but worth it given the quality of the food and service.

    The drinks including the wine were good. But all course, appetizers and entree, were markedly subpar. The onion soup was over caramelized. The duck breast and monk fish were dry. The beef Bourgogne was uninteresting. For the price, a bad deal. I’m not coming back.

    Service/waiter was definitely lacking on knowledge of menu and on checking in on us during the course of dishes. The waiter brought us the wrong dish and claimed he repeated our order, which he did initially state correctly, but the wrong dish was delivered. He then tried to blame us for their error. From that point forward, service was completely lacking. The food did not appear fresh (salad greens) and the prices far exceeded the quality. We love French food but will not be returning due to the poor service and pricing.
