Ryan's Chef creates a tantalizing selection of appetizers such as jumbo lump crabmeat, steamed mussels in garlic butter and white wine, and oysters Rockefeller. Entrees range from thick, juicy steaks and prime rib to the finest grilled fresh fish and live Maine lobster. Choose from the menu or a superb selection of specials offered nightly. Add a cappuccino and a freshly made dessert to seal the dining experience.

The restaurant has been locally owned and under the same management since 1981. Ryan's has been awarded the Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence" and is often featured in national publications. Recently awarded the DiRoNa Award for Distinctive Fine Dining.

We had a wonderful time at Ryan’s restaurant in Winston Salem on March 24th. The ambiance was just lovely! Our sever was quite nice and prompt. She was delightful to speak with. Dinner knocked it out the park. I had your chicken dinner that had a great mushroom sauce. My husband, Victor, was very pleased with his duck as well. I would highly recommend going there and would most likely come back.

We had a wonderful dinner and celebration at Ryan’s . We had a group of 7- the service , atmosphere, food and wine were perfect from start to finish . The steaks were flavorful , tender , and perfectly cooked . The pomme frittes were very tasty and the peanut butter pie was a true hit . Our server , recently moved from Long Island , was fabulous . Very knowledgeable, attentive , and personable . We love this place and can’t wait to come back . If you haven’t been , you must visit !!!!

Excellent as always. I usually get the steak, but opted for the Sea bass. My wife had the shrimp and grits. both were outstanding. Service impecable. Only complaint was the load mouth stuffed shirt behind us, but what can you do?

2 couples celebrating a birthday. They allowed us to bring our cake (I messaged ahead---very fast response--$1/person serving fee--totally fine with that). The steaks were all outstanding---cooked as ordered. The cake presentation was very well done and our server was exceptional. I forget about Ryan's for some reason and should not!

Old and dated describes Ryan’s perfectly. It’s stuck in the 80’s. Feels like very old Winston Salem. The food was just ok. My husband asked for his ribeye medium well, half of it was prepared as asked, and the other half was well done. For a $275, with only one glass of wine and pre-tip mind you, we could have had a much better meal at Fleming’s. We won’t be returning.

Ryan’s is a Winston-Salem restaurant icon beloved by visitors and locals alike. You simply cannot get better food or service anywhere in the area. Compared to some restaurants with excellent chefs, the menu is more static with only one or two specials each night. The regular menu selection is hard to beat with great crab cakes, shrimp and grits, steaks, etc. There is something for everyone on the extensive menu to make up for the fact that there are few specials. Unfortunately, the only thing that detracts from an otherwise great dining experience is the noise but if you ask, the staff will try to find a quieter spot for you so long as you have made reservations in advance. This is one restaurant you won’t get into without a reservation made several days in advance and if it’s dinner for a special occasion, a reservation made several weeks in advance is necessary. It’s not inexpensive so definitely not a once a week dining spot but it is worth the trip when you need a special night out.

I had been anticipating this evening for quite a while. I was given a really nice gift card to Ryan’s for my retirement earlier in the fall. I have lived in the general area for most of my life and was familiar with Ryan’s, but had never eaten there. Finally was able to make time to go with my wife and have a night away from kids…at least for a few hours. I got the NY Strip and she got Crab Cakes and we split a Crab Dip appetizer. The appetizer was better than average as were the crab cakes. The steak was very good, but I honestly have had better for much less $$. Still, a great meal. The service was absolutely first rate and our waitress took excellent care of us. Our view of the creek was nice…it’s winter, although the weather doesn’t betray that, and the creek could use a bit of litter removal, as can most urban creeks in February…but as the sun set, the view became better. All in all a great evening! Don’t know when I will return…but I will.

Let me start by saying the she crab soup was fantastic! We both ordered filet and lobster. My lobster was over cooked, which was disappointing. Steaks were cooked to the correct temperatures. There was a lady from the front desk going to tables to ask how everything was, she went to every table in our room but never came to our table. Service was slow, not sure if they were understaffed but not our typical experience. Chocolate cake is also fantastic!
