Two in our party ordered Belgian waffles. Menu clearly states it come with Vermont syrup. The syrup was not brought with the plate. When we requested the syrup, only one small container was brought to the table. We had to request a second syrup. Also butter was requested and provided with a frown.
The waffle portion was VERY small and the waffle was overcooked. Very unsatisfactory. At $14.00, we expected a standard Belgian waffle serving, not about 1/4 of a waffle.
Potatos with omelette were not cooked.
Tangata food and service definitely not up to previous visits.
My husband and I were very disappointed in Tangata. The first thing we noticed was how noisy it was. I rated the sound as moderate because the restaurant was half empty, but if it was full, it would have been very loud. We each had the duck salad. It was very small, with very little duck. It was good, but somewhat bland and would have benefited from some pepper. I noticed that there was no salt or pepper on any table, except for a salt shaker on one table. No one asked us if we wanted some pepper, which I expect from a restaurant charging these prices. After we got our food, we were asked if we wanted bread. Quite a bit later, we were given one piece each of some cold white bread. Since the salad was so small, we ordered desert, which we don't ordinarily do after lunch. We had the lemon mousse, which wasn't like a mousse at all since it wasn't light. It tasted OK, but nothing special. Next time I come to the museum, I'll plan to eat before or after my visit.
We dined on Friday for lunch before visiting the Bowers. Good food, good service, but too noisy! We did not tarry over our meal because the sound level was unbearable.
I let the host know we were celebrating a birthday and they seated us next to the open kitchen...lots of noise and banging. The restaurant had many open tables available. We should have asked to be moved. Our waiter took our order and presented the bill, but someone else delivered the food and dessert, and had to ask who had what. When I pay $17-18 for a hamburger, I have higher expectations.
The new many proves to be creative , colorful and tinted with exquisite cultural tones, for example: “ forbidden rice”. Absolutely loved it!
Tangata was ok. Food was ok. Service was not so great. The servers were not that attentive as it was brunch and when they were there was a series of strange interactions. I didn't feel cared for by the server or welcomed at the restaurant. The manager did help out with a special request, so that was nice. I wouldn't go back.
This was the most perfect Mother's Day brunch ever! The weather was absolutely PERFECT; the buffet was GOURMET; the service was AWESOME; and the memories will be WONDERFUL!! Thank you to everyone involved in making it so.
Tangata put on a fine Mother's Day Brunch this year. We walked thru the exhibition at the museum, then on to a lovely brunch. Intelligent service at the table. Food excellent. All in our party said it couldn't have been better!
The service was impeccable. We had a wonderful server who was very polite and handled everything well, e.g., when we returned from the buffet, he had replaced our napkins and refilled our coffee. There was a nice selection of food. My wife especially enjoys food she wouldn't normally prepare at home.
We had lunch at Tangata after visiting the Bower Museum. Happy to have reservations as tables filled quickly, even for a weekday. The service could not have been better. We were seated promptly, bread and water service was immediate and glasses refilled regularly. We had Tagata burgers and they were simply the best burger we have had in such a long time...tender and juicy and prepared perfectly. The herbed fries were slender and crisp and tasted like fries as they were not over seasoned. The salads being served all looked delicious. The iced tea and coffee were both freshly made and delicious. Well worth a visit for lunch even if not going to the museum. Parking is validated.
Wonderful ambiance! Convenient to Bowers! Food good, but could use expanded menu (more salads)
Good food, nice personnel. Limited menu ..service good ..got crowded but we were all able to
be seated....earlier than we asked so that was really nice. Very nice setting. Will be back.
Geat food and service. Iiked the varity on the menu. I will be back.
Would recommend only if could eat outside.
Far too noisy!
Much too loud
Would be lovely if they could figure out how to lower the volume.
People of a the age who patronage this wonderful museum do enjoy screaming over a table to visit!!!!
innovative and delicious menu with friendly service
The food was excellent. The service was great. The ambiance is wonderful. I enjoyed it very much.
Enjoyed lunch before touring the exhibit we came to see. Convenient and very good food. Went on a Sunday so had the brunch menu. A lot of choices, great food.
They could not seat us at 1pm (no tables free) and there were a dozen people ahead of us. We had to go somewhere else.
Busy day at the museum with multiple events. I made reservations but we still had to wait a bit. The Maitre D did his best and came to our table to apologize for the wait. Made it worth our wait with dessert. Food is always good and the atmosphere and wait staff a class act. Thank you Tangata.
Delicious end to our day exploring the Bowers museum exhibits! Stunning service...TY Josh! Although busy and a little bit loud, three gals reuniting had a great time! Food, service, ambiance outstanding! An absolute must when at the Bowers or for a local luncheon or dinner!
Excellent. Always wonderful. Saturday was quite noisy.
I have been a member of Bowers for 40 years! I have seen the restaurant change over the years. Tangata is a very good one. My only complaint is that the current menu seemed quite abbreviated. I was there just a short while ago and recall there was a larger menu with a larger selection.
One of my favorite restaurants. Always plan a visit when I'm at the Bowers
Food delish, service attentive, atmospheric pleasant
This is a lovely restaurant in the museum. The food and service was very good.
My friends and I come to Tangata for the Easter and Thanksgiving meal every year (for almost 10 years now). There was less variety of food this time and it wasn't quite up to the high level it has been in the past. Still good . . . but not great.
Food was fine. Nothing special. An ok but not great dining experience.
Easter Brunch was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. This will be our new Easter tradition!
This was my first time dining in Tangata. My friend and I had the best experience. We had a great waiter who was very knowledgeable about the menu and able to make suggestions. We had the Burrata, it was wonderful.
Our waiter seated us (4) and said would be back shortly. 8 minutes passed and came back. Took order and our drinks came in 5 minutes our food came 20 minutes later. The food was very good, however we never saw our waiter again. No one came to check on us after food came. The restaurant was noisy. To get our check to pay, we had to summon someone to get it. Our bill was $110 for 4, this was only one $12 drink. I expected more from a restaurant in this price range. There was more than enough staff to keep track of the diners. I have experienced this type of service here before ... no one seems to care their customers are taken care of ... need to be more attentive.
It is a lovely setting and the service was wonderful but the food was rather blah. My seabass was said to have a coconut curry sauce. There was very little sauce and it had very little flavor.
I always enjoy the restaurant when I go to Bowers. I was there with my three sisters on Sunday for a birthday celebration. We sat outside and it was lovely. We were disappointed that on Sunday, only the brunch menu is offered, regardless, the food was good. Carlos provided absolutely excellent, friendly service. In the past, this has not always been the case. Thanks for asking. Mitzi Wells
Lovely setting, very good food. Typical pricing for this type of restaurant.
First Time, food was good, a little noisy, great service.
We love this restaurant and always go when we go to a new show. Love the show inspired menu.
The food was excellent. French fries are the bomb!...Food was served hot and fresh, wine list is also well selected with a good variety.
Overall good although the grilled cheese sandwich was totally forgettable. Hardly any cheese or flavor.
Flatbread was very good.
Service very good.
Very good service; we ladies appreciated the separate checks. Delicious and interesting food. Dont forget to ask for the bread. My only caveat: more interesting desserts.
We ate out side where it was much quieter than inside. It was a cool day and they have the outside area covered so it's in the shade. The menu is small but there is something for everyone.
