Food was very good. I would appreciate bigger portions for the price. Both the pasta dish and the salad with salmon could have been bigger.

We made reservations a month in advance and the day before looked at the menu, I expected it to be limited but not to have mushrooms in nearly everything, and whey were unable yo prepare anything without them. We enjoyed our pre-COVID visits much more. Prices are moderate to high and portions quite small. I still might consider it again before a performance.

The server was stretched and was covering probably 10 tables. Very friendly and accommodating. The pasta entree was clearly kept warm for some time and was dried out. Flavor was OK. The chocolate bomb dessert was very good. Recommend skipping the entrees, have a couple of appetizers and a dessert.

Food is incredibly bad. I paid $30 for 3 rehydrated mushrooms and noodles. It is handy to eat there. Stick to just wine and a salad. Bread is even bad.

The service was great. This is a great spot for people- watching-- ballet and opera goers and the beautiful Seatte Center campus. The food is good but over-priced, but really you're paying for the convenience of being right inside the performance venue. My salad was good and the rose was delightful!

Opening night of Carmina Burana and coming through the pandemic that is a big deal. Staring with what was good. The duck was excellent. We had two servings. The beef was presented beautifully but wasn’t tasty. The mushroom farfalle was made well. We enjoyed the yellowtail appetizer and the octopus appetizer; the marmalade-like sauce with the veggies spring roll was odd. We ordered every dessert. The Passionfuit Strawberry Chocolate Bombe was the most popular. The bottle of Syrah was excellent. What was a disappointing was that menu had $131 bottle of brut champagne…but it wasn’t in stock; opening night and we were a 5:30 reservation but they didn’t have it in stock? instead we wound up having to pay for the $75/375ML or $160 full bottle of Veuve Cliquot — come on, don’t mind paying for a bottle of champagne but y’all that’s just too much — and the glasses were not chilled. If you’re going to overprice the champagne, let the service match the expense — and it should be served in chilled glasses. Which it wasn’t. So before the bottle was opened, we nicely asked for chilled glasses and we were made to feel the request had put him out.

The food at Prelude used to be outstanding, which is why we made reservations the last two operas. But since last spring, the quality and selection has really gone down and we will not plan to eat there again. Very odd items now when the old menu was very basic but good quality. Instead of so many trendy fermented items, I wish they had stuck with the standards. The beef selections the last two times have been tough, and the last serving had a large, unattractive wad of fat on half of the serving. On the plus side, the staff is kind and accommodating, especially for my wheelchair bound friend.

So impressed with the food and service!!! This meal was for a pre Opera dinner on a warm evening. We arrived to discover that all wait staff had called in sick, except one person. His name is Charles, and he handled the entire, crowded dining room, with cheerful efficiency that was beyond amazing! Everyone received their drinks, dinner and dessert- all in time to meet the 7:30 PM opera start time. My compliments to Charles, the chef and all who helped out to make our evening perfect!!

I had brunch at Prelude yesterday. I usually enjoy the experience but lately the menu choices have made it difficult for me. Food was delicious, but they used to indicate on the menu which items were gluten free and they no longer do so. I had to ask for each item. The dessert almond plum tart was said to be gluten free but the bottom crust seemed like regular pastry so I could not eat it. Also, even though the opera is strongly recommending masks during the performance, only one server was masked, which made me very uncomfortable.

Was surprised as we had previous outstanding dining at Prelude The Japanese emphasis did not work! The chef did not understand Japanese food! It was like an Italian chef tried to cook Chinese! I should know as I live two years in Japan and have returned there three times! Despite promising charred octopus as a small dish, never had it! Maybe it would have enhanced the pickle plate! The main dishes were also a disappointment! Tofu scallops! Almost tasteless!

The Sunday brunch menu from which we were to choose our food reflected a theme of some type. Our group of four, who frequently dine out together, could literally find nothing on the menu that appealed to us. It was a very big disappointment. Our brunch was expensive and unsatisfying. We did, however, have a very engaging and competent server.

Every time we go to Prelude, we are pleasantly surprised that their limited menu (four appetizers, four entrees, and three or so desserts) offers such delicious choices that are always beautifully plated. The servers couldn't be more efficient and friendly. It makes an evening at the opera, ballet, etc., very special and wonderfully convenient.

Prelude is always an excellent meal before a ballet or opera. The food is always creative, delicious, and artfully presented. Portions are reasonable and leave room for three courses. Staff are always attentive and timely (knowing you're heading into the auditorium). COVID care was well done (masked staff, vaccine checks before entering the building).

Good restaurant for getting to the opera without the anxiety of getting there on time for the performance. We had a leisurely dinner and were more relaxed for it. Food was good but a bit expensive for what is served. Wait persons are efficient and one can actually carry on a conversation without having to yell across the table.
