There’s a reason St Elmo’s is an institution! They have amazing steak, delicious navy bean soup, shrimp cocktail with sauce that will make your eyes water and desserts. Food is cooked to your preference. Attentive wait staff. Beautiful decor. A trip to Indy isn’t complete without a dinner at St Elmo’s.

Too crowded, too loud at 5pm.Waiter was good, but drinks were promised as sweet, the pineapple non alcoholic drink,it was tart, but he brought simple syrup, made it better. The space between salad and main meal was at least 40 minutes, without asking in between if anything else wanted. We had asked for more bread, that took 25 minutes.I ordered my steak medium well done,he said if ok when slight pink. I said ok,but was very pink. I took it home to cook tonight. When finally bill came,we rushed, because we were there 3 hours and our bodies hurt from long sitting .It was my husbands 80th and we rushed out. For this kind of money,I expected a bit more.

The restaurant is pricey, but it’s worth every penny. We came here to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. Every employee was kind and helpful, they all knew it was our anniversary without us saying a word, and they even gave us a card that all of the staff signed and a free dessert. The food was incredible! Get the shrimp cocktail, even if you don’t like seafood! Actually, get two! Also, it was super clean.

I started off with a French martini made with vodka rather than gin--EXCELLANT! The shrimp cocktail was served ICE COLD--as it should be. It was yummy, and the horseradish cleared up our sinuses! The wedge salad was THE BEST I have had anywhere! The steaks were delicious--seasoned perfectly. Our waiter Richard, was very accommodating, and made our birthday celebration evening relaxed. Can't wait to go back again!

First time eating here in probably 15 years. It was very good but not as good as I remember. The shrimp cocktail is legit but the shrimp seemed smaller. The prime aged ribeye was very good but at$85, probably not worth the extra $30 compared to the standard ribeye. Service was impeccable.

Prices are very high— we knew that going in. Presentation of food, especially signature shrimp cocktail, was poor. Restaurant is VERY NOISY. Restaurant could not fully accommodate gluten free dining. Given the price point of this restaurant it is disappointing to say the least that at a minimum GF bread is not available. I would not recommend St Elmo. One can find luxury steak house dining at other places for better value. In short, the high prices are not worth it.

The staff were very attentive and were excellent over all. Most of the food was excellent, my cut of steak however was not up to par. While the taste was excellent, a large percentage of the aged steak was inedible due bad marbling and large amounts of grissel.

Service was excellent. I had the dry aged ribeye that could have been one of the best steak I’ve ever had, if it was seasoned at all. It was tender but bland. However, the butter cake was amazing. The tables were small and close to together and the noise level was pretty high.

I wanted to provide my honest feedback. My husband and I were so excited to dine here. We had looked up St. Elmo's prior to moving here back when we lived in Austin and knew we wanted to come here for our anniversary. We arrived evening for our 6:45 pm reservation and we were caught off guard by how loud it was inside. For an upscale restaurant, the noise was the first turn off. We were seated and they brought out the rolls, which were the best thing we had the entire evening. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, because we knew we had to, and we didn't like it. No big deal, we just wanted to try it. We each ordered the flat iron steak well done, Oscar style, with mashed potatoes and lobster bisque. The soup was good. Then, the steaks arrived. It was disappointing to receive a small amount of crab and four spears of asparagus for an extra $21 (I believe it was). That aside the amount of mashed potatoes served with the steak was insane. I then tried the steak and we both found them to be dry. Now, I know your argument will be that the steaks were well done, but that shouldn't be a problem. We ate at one of the finest steakhouses in Austin, Texas, ordered our steaks well done, and they were cooked to perfection and so juicy. Besides that the steak, I found to be flavorless. Moving onto the check, we were disappointed by the food, but then annoyed when the check arrived. At no point in the ordering process did our server say the lobster bisque was an extra charge of almost $9 a bowl. That soup was in no way worth that. When we ordered, he said we have the navy bean soup, the tomato juice, or we also have lobster bisque. If it was an extra charge, like it was, that should have been addressed. We went out for an expensive dinner, yes, but that does not mean we wanted to spend almost $20 on soup that we did not even want. We thought it just came with the steak. Our server did comp the shrimp because he knew we didn't like it, so we decided to not say anything more.
