Our reservation was prior to a concert, and the drinks, meal, dessert, and coffee were elegantly and efficiently served so that we never felt rushed but were finished dinner in time for a leisurely walk to the conservatory. The food was delicious, there were three choices: meat, seaford, or vegetarian; and the portions were well-sized. A "compliment from the chef" was a tasty addition we much enjoyed.

This was only the second time we have been to 1906, both times were great, we will certainly make it a must each time we visit Longwood Gardens.

I love eating here! I try to come every time I'm in the Gardens. The chef is a genius, and the food is incomparable. The menu changes often, but one thing that is always there is the Kennett Square Mushroom Soup - it's famous for a reason! The staff is very attentive without getting in the way, and the dessert course is not to be missed. By all means, take an hour out of your visit, sit down, unwind and enjoy some delicious cuisine!

It is always a special treat when we eat at Longwood's restaurant. The setting is beautiful and relaxing and the mushroom soup is not to be missed. The delicious fresh bread presented in a flower pot continues to be a fun tradition at 1906.

The chef at 1906 Longwood has a very creative menu. I like his mix of creativity in food/taste and the presentation that reflects the garden surrounding. Very nice. The host Joni as well is a gem.

The atmosphere is elegant and refined and the warm bread served in little flower pots is delicious, but I've been disappointed in the overpriced entrees enough times now that I really think I'll avoid this restaurant on future trips to Longwood and eat in the more moderately priced cafe instead. Portions are larger than they need to be. The mushroom crepes--too many mushrooms, too little taste--should have been a reliable choice in "mushroom country" but they weren't. Prospective clients should think twice before deciding to spend their money on this mediocre fare.

Delicious and creative brunch menu, unhurried and pleasant atmosphere, lovely and bright little dining room. Imagine it is even nicer during warm weather months when you can be seated outside. A highly recommended part of the Longwood experience.

We made reservations at 1906 to celebrate a birthday of a visiting guest. The service staff couldn't have been more considerate and helpful. Our meals were outstanding. The meal was presented with finesse and polish in spite of one of our guests arriving late. Very good value for the cost. Lots of smiles all around when we left the restaurant.

1906 is one of my favorite area restaurants and a must whenever I visit Longwood Gardens. An excellent ever-changing menu features a nice mix of something for everyone. My sister is a vegetarian and she always finds at least two options on the menu for her. Unlike some restaurants where non-meat options are an afterthought, 1906's veggie dishes are outstanding and delicious and make this carnivore's mouth water. All of their dishes are unique creations with amazing combinations of flavors and textures. If you love food and good dining experiences (in a lovely garden setting I might add) then you must come to 1906 and have a meal that you won't soon forget.

This is a truly wonderful venue that shall always remain hidden, that is, available only to guests of Longwood Gardens. Still, it is one of our favorite restaurants in the region . Spectacular views, a beautiful room, the friendliest service anywhere, delicious libations, and thr food, just magnificent. It has become as an old friend to us. We love Longwood, and, for years 1906 has been the perfect finishing touch to our magnificent day at the Gardens. A visit to Longwood is truly amazing, and, dining at 1906 is a must!

We had a flatbread appetizer, mushroom soup, an omelette, and dessert. From the mushroom soup made with local mushrooms, to the flower pot dessert with chocolate wafer crumbles and a moussy chocolate cake wrapped in an edible flower pot, this meal was delicious! Service was attentive without being bothersome, and the presentation of each dish was careful and creative -- as much fun to look at as it was to eat!

I'm not sure if this was a rough day for our server, but this is the second poor experience with service that needs improvement. After the serverixed up my order, she then put salt on it instead of pepper by mistake without offering to take the plate back. She was very in attentive to us and service was very slow. This may be the last time we go there. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I had concerns about returning after our last visit (& the one before that) which wasn't much better. We love the gardens, but 1906 needs improvement.

Preconcert dinner, beautiful venue made me long to return daytime to enjoy the gardens at Longwood. Staff was very attentive and pleasant and it's a pretty and serene space. The famed mushroom soup was rather sticky, under-seasoned and disappointing. Short ribs were a dry, not succulent like one expects from this cut, the salmon on a bed of leeks was fine. Dessert was a lemony creation somewhere between a cheesecake and pannacotta, not bad. However, the wine pairing (which brought pris fixe to $62/person) was excellent! In summary: it made dinner/concert combination easy logistically, the wine was great, staff lovely, not sure food was working for me.

With their famous mushroom soup made from locally sourced mushrooms to start the meal, you really can't go wrong here. the menu changes seasonally and really should be enjoyed at all times of the year, to fully appreciate the locally sourced ingredients and skills of the chef.

We took my husband's Mom for brunch for her birthday and it was just the perfect experience. We had often eaten in the Cafe which is very good but never had enough time to factor in dining in 1906 during our visit. We'll consider it more often in the future. We are definitely foodies, are great cooks ourselves and insist on quality. 1906 stood up to expectations. The service was impeccable! Loved the parsnip soup and the mushroom crepes!
