We’ve been coming here once a year for 30 years and have never been disappointed
I love the cozy atmosphere of this historic inn. The food is always good and the service excellent. Our server Warren was very attentive and pleasant.
Our lunch was delicious and the dining room is so charming. Also, our server was so kind and friendly.
I love the setting of this restaurant. It’s like stepping back in time 100 years. Very lovely.
Always consistent service and lovely food. its our "go-to" place whenever friends visit from out of town and we want to show them the area.
I was a little disappointed in this most recent experience. I have been at the RLI before and really enjoyed it. The service was the best but food and dining experience was mediocre.
The appetizers (butternut squash bisque and butternut squash ravioli) were excellent. The ravioli had an added treat of lobster claws to go along with the lobster Newburg sauce. The Lila's Braised Lamb was flavorful although a little fatty in spots. We had our usual desserts (molten chocolate cake and apple pie a la mode) which are old favorites. My only comment was that our server did not tell us what the specials were, or that there even were specials. We heard another server tell a neighboring table about the specials. One of them was something I might have wanted to order instead of the lamb had I known about it.
Very nice. I had the special, which was tuna, fantastic. My wife had the Salmon, excellent. Professional Waiter. Great atmosphere. Loved it!
Been going to the inn for over 40 years. We like it there it's quiet and mostly very quiet dinners. If you want to get roudy do not go there. Also the dress there is smart casual. We will make another trip up in December before we leave for Florida. Geno
Was a bit loud. Menu pricing was too high for overall value of the experience.
Our recent visit was not as good as our many previous visits. I ordered the beet salad to start and it just didn’t taste as good as the last time I ordered it. The salmon was just ok, but the entree was not as hot as I would have liked. The waiter was very nice but rather awkward in his serving style. All in all, a rather blah meal as far as I was concerned.
My husband ordered the turkey dinner and while it was fine, wished there was more dressing.,
This has been our recurring go to for our anniversary dinner for over 10 years. Always outstanding, and ideal location for special occasions.
The Red Lion Inn is located in the historical town of Stockbridge, MA. Dating back to the 1770s the Red Lion captures the ambiance of days gone by with delicious fine dining meals. On the pricey side, but not outrageous, my daughter and I celebrated my 53rd birthday here and was treated like royalty. I've wanted to dine there for years and it was as delightful as I imagined it would be.
Keep Norman. Ditch the apple pie. Having the cat is a great addition. Very welcoming and homelike.
The apples were undercooked and hard. The crust was bread like and burnt.
Great food carefully prepared with excellent service
We ate at The Red Lion Inn for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and were very pleased with the service, the food and overall experience. Our preference was to order the Prime Rib which was excellent! It was served with home made mashed potatoes with string beans and horse radish on the side, which added to the taste experience.
Our waiter was wonderful, very attentive! The pace of the meal was just right!
We love The Red Lion Inn and will be back.
The Red Lion Inn is a hidden gem and wonderful place for a relaxing wonderful lunch. Great town and history. A must stop for everyone!
The Tavern was a cozy comfortable place to eat. The shrimp cocktail was perfectly chilled with tasty cocktail sauce, & the poached pear arugula salad was delicious. My waiter was friendly & attentive.
We have eaten here several times. The food is reliably good and the atmosphere is wonderful, if you like historical colonial dining rooms. This time, however, the service was both incompetent and rude. First, they forgot to give us bread. When we told the waiter, he simply blamed the busboy. Second, the food arrived before the drinks. The waiter’s reaction: “I’m not the bartender.” Third, when the food was served again after we received our drinks, mine was hot but my wife’s was lukewarm at best. When we told the waiter, he abruptly whisked away my wife’s plate without a word. He returned it the same way, after I had eaten about 2/3 of my food. Appalling.
My sister and I had a lovely lunch heading back from the Rockwell Museum. I was happy that there was a herbal tea selection, coming in from a rainy and cold afternoon. The Chicken Pot Pie was delicious and an extremely generous portion with a puff pastry type popover in the middle. My sister loved the quiche and started with a hot bowl of butter nut bisque, that she raved about. The ambiance is so old New England; love it! Our server was nice, however, seemed distracted- they were preparing for the dinner crowd. All in all, delightful experience!
So glad I made a reservation because at the height of "leaf peeping" season it was very busy! We were seated immediately at a quiet table for 2. Had the Mediterranean plate for appetizer, salmon cake with mesclun salad and French dip sandwich for lunch - all were very good and good size portion although price tended toward high side. Overall had a wonderful time, attentive waitress and will definitely return.
An excellent place for a friendly celebratory lunch with friends. Great service, friendly waiter.
Food ok. Classic old New England restaurant. Not a food destination. A bit tired.
the food was wonderful - it seemed like you might have been short staffed that day. good service just slow.
Wish there were more vegetarian options.
Beautiful entry, fireplace burning people gathered around in comfy chairs. Perfect setting for a fall afternoon. Food was excellent.
Love the place!
Waiter was slow to serve, water served was warm, other tables served bread with soup but we weren’t offered bread
I had dinner with 4 friends - they all ordered prime rib and said it was very good. I ordered salmon and it was not very good - overcooked and dry. I would have expected a better meal for such a pricey place.
We like to go to the Red Lion for lunch during the fall foliage season. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service. We love to walk around Sturbridge first and go to the various shops. Because the restaurant is always busy during the fall foliage season we new we needed to make a reservation in advance. Making this reservation through Open Table was easy and convenient.
Meeting with friends. Nostalgic location. This is a central location to meet friends, shop and take in the fall season.
The quality of the meal was very disappointing. Not like I remembered on my last visit.
Wait staff friendly. Provided excellent service. Chef made accommodation that was greatly appreciated. Warm ambiance and low noise level that allowed conversation was thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant was perfect for our special occasion.
If you like Old New England Inns - this is a good place to go. Food is okay - in all - nothing special
The waitress was excellent. Friendly, but efficient. The atmosphere is classic. We were in the dining room on a Sunday lunch time and it was quite noisy. The Tavern seemed quieter, so we might try that next time. Had a beautiful walk around Stockbridge on a sunny autumn afternoon. Highly recommend it.
An old, charming dining room with a nice menu, always offering "Thanksgiving Dinner." Simple and unpretentious. Not for gourmets, but a nice place for a dinner in the Berkshires.
We heard so much about The Red Lion Inn and the restaurant, so we couldn't wait to go. The atmosphere was wonderful, the wait staff was attentive. The menu is very limited.
However, the salads were way over priced for what you got. My husband had the filet which was tender but extremely salty. I had the prime rib and needed a saw to try and cut it.
I would not go back.
RESERVATION CONFIRMED SEATING 15 MINUTES PLACE NOT FULL MENU JUST NOT UP TO PAR FOR EXPENSIVE DINING SEATED IN A REAR TABLE LIKE A LAST MINUTE THING VERY DISAPOINTED BEEN THERE YEARS AGO AND WAS TOP SHELF NEEDS SERIOUS FRESHENING UP JUST IS NOT UP TO TODAYS STANDARDS
Staying in South Lee, so this restaurant was convenient. The Inn looked lovely. The dining room was comfortable, but clearly old. My appetizer was great, but the fish was cooked too long and a little dry.
Red Lion Inn never disappoints! The food is always delicious and the service is alway excellent!
A lovely space to dine, unfortunately, the kitchen does not equal the dining experience. Our two entrees were overcooked and not impressive. If you are looking for a lovely space this works well. If you are looking for fine dining try another restaurant. Service was excellent.
